Abstract

The 21st -century learning demands students’ that have critical thinking skills. The learning model of Brain-Based Learning (BBL), combined with the approach of Problem-Based Learning (PBL), is an alternative model that adjusts the critical thinking skils. The objective of this research was to generate a valid, practical, and effective BBL-PBL learning model. This research was research and development using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. The study was implemented on the tenth-grade students of Rambipuji Senior High School, Jember, Indonesia, in the academic year of 2019/2020. The data collection techniques used were validation of products and test methods, interviews with the teachers, the questionnaire responses of teachers and students, and class observations. The results of the validity of the product were 91.4% as very valid category. The results of the cognitive model’s effectivenest were of 0.81 as high category, the psychomotor aspects were 82 as fair category, and the critical thinking skills were of 85 as excellent category. The practicality results were obtained from the questionnaire responses of the teachers and the students, respectively by 91.2% and 86% which are both excellent categories.

Abstract

Biology is a science whose concept is abstract and has a wide scope. One of them is the subject of Plantae that requires appropriate media to help to visualize the material being taught. Some things to consider in the selection of media such as material and learner characteristics. Characteristics of learners today is known as the Z generation so that the appropriate media is one that involves the use of technology. One of them is Edmodo-based e-learning media. The use of Edmodo-based e-learning media enables the delivery of more varied and much-involved students. This study aimed to find out the development process of Edmodo-based e-learning media and to produce a valid product as well as to know the effectiveness and practicality of the product. This research was a development research using a method by Borg and Gall (1983) model that has been modified by Sugiyono (2006). Stage of limited scale trial was conducted in SMAN 2 Jember and SMAN 4 Jember. The result of the product validation test of e-learning media development on average produced a valid product. Effectiveness test at SMAN 2 Jember and at SMAN 4 Jember resulted in a high N-Gain score. The result of the practicality test through the students and teachers responses of SMAN 2 Jember and SMAN 4 Jember created a response with strongly agree category. Keywords: Edmodo, e-learning, development, Plantae subject.

Abstract

Catharanthus roseus known as tapak dara generates specific bisindole alkaloids namely vinblastine and vincristine, which are potent as anticancer agents. This study is aimed to find out the effect of Catharanthus roseus leaves extract on cytokinesis failure. The treatment of concentration of Catharanthusroseus leaves extract in Carlson’s solution consisted of five concentration levels: 0.1%, 0.3%, 0.5%, 0.7% dan 0.9%. Carlson’s solution was utilized as the control. The result of this study revealed that Catharanthus roseus leaves extract has significantly effect on cytokinesis failure. Moreover, there was afailure of division. Key words: Catharanthus roseus leaves, extract, cytokinesis failure

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the increasing of learning through the mind mapping method and performance assessment with peer assessment technique in cell biology subject. This research is a class room action research that consist of four phase includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. The result showed that there are some increasing of learning outcome, 38.38% from prasiklus to cycle 1, and 19.49% from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Key words: mind mapping, performance, peer assesment, cell biology

Abstract

This study aimed to increase the interest and learning outcomes of English through Demonstration Method in class II students of As-Shakireen Primary School, Thailand. This research was a classroom action research. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interest scale, and tests. Data analysis techniques were carried out by means of qualitative and quantitative descriptive. Increased interest and English learning outcomes with Demonstration methods carried out from pre-cycle activities, cycle 1 consisting of stages of planning, acting, observation, and reflection. Based on the results of data analysis, it showed the scale of student interest from pre-cycle to cycle with the use of demonstration method has increased. While student learning outcomes also experience an increase as indicated by the average value of students and the average students who exceed the minimum criteria. So that the demonstration method implemented can increase the interest and learning outcomes of class II students in English subjects at As-Shakireen primary school. Keywords: demonstration method, learning interest, learning outcomes
