Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems have functions and benefits that are quite important both physically and biologically. Mangroves can act as natural coastal protectors from damage due to abrasion and large waves and also provide shelter for associated biota. Development of a mangrove ecosystem that can be developed into a tourism area and an environmental-based education center. Pengudang Village has the potential to be developed into a mangrove ecotourism area with its resources and biodiversity. Development into a mangrove ecotourism area is constrained by public understanding of the types of mangroves, benefits and associated biota in the mangrove ecosystem of Pengudang Village. Community service activities carried out aim to provide understanding to the Pengudang Village community about the potential and types of mangrove resources and associated biota. The activity process begins with a survey of the potential of the mangrove ecosystem including recording, identification, and classification of mangrove species. The introduction and socialization of the condition of the man-grove ecosystem was carried out to the coastal community of Pengudang Village. From the results of field identification, it was found that the mangrove condition of Pengudang Village is in good condition with a dense density. Associated biota in mangrove ecosystems vary from gastropods to mammals. The identification results are disseminated to the Pengudang Village community.

Abstract

Kepulauan Riau adalah salah satu provinsi yang terdiri dari berbagai pulau, diantaranya seperti Pulau Dompak dan Pulau Bintan. Sumber daya hayati laut di Pulau Bintan memiliki fungsi yang sangat penting (Irawan et. al. 2020). Banyaknya aktivitas masyarakat di sekitar pesisir akan mengakibatkan terjadinya penurunan kualitas lingkungan dan menyebabkan rendahnya populasi organisme yang berada didalamnya, salah satu diantaranya organisme tersebut adalah Strombus spp. Salah satu jenis dari organisme Strombus spp. adalah siput gonggong. Keberadaan dari siput gonggong ini bisa menggambarkan kondisi kualitas lingkungan karena siput gonggong ini hidup menetap dikawasan pasang surut. Pengamatan ini bertujuan untuk menentukan indeks ekologi dan membandingkan status kualitas lingkungan dengan standar baku mutu bagi biota. Pengukuran parameter insitu di lapangan dilakukan sebanyak 3 kali pengulangan di setiap titik, setelah itu dilakukan pengambilan sampel air untuk analisis total suspended solid (TSS) yang digunakan dalam pengambilan data Strombus spp. pada perairan tidak tercemar dan perairan tercemar adalah metode line transek. Pada perairan pengudang untuk nilai keseragaman Strombus spp didapatkan nilai sebesar 0.7 dengan kategori tinggi karena mendekati angka 1 berdasarkan nilai kriteria E, karena setiap jenis atau komunitas tersebut stabil. Pada perairan pengudang untuk nilai dominansi Strombus spp. didapatkan nilai sebesar 0.3 dengan kategori rendah, karena setiap jenis seragam dan rata. Parameter fisika dan kimia perairan berdasarkan PP RI No. 22 Tahun 2021, pH pada 2 stasiun tersebut termasuk optimum karena masih dalam ambang batas baku mutu. Jika pH terlalu tinggi atau terlalu rendah akan mempengaruhi ketahanan hidup Strombus spp.

Abstract

The EduMangrove community service activity at SMAN 6 Tanjungpinang aims to raise awareness and increase students' concern for the Sebauk Laut coastal environment through education by integrating creative and innovative learning multimedia in the form of documentary videos and video demonstrations about the importance of mangroves for preserving the Sebauk Laut beach from abrasion, as well as involving students in real action in a sustainable collaborative project to plant mangroves. This activity succeeded in increasing students' awareness and concern for the Sebauk Laut coastal environment. Apart from that, this activity also provides a significant increase in students' knowledge regarding the importance of the mangrove ecosystem as protecting the Sebauk Laut coastline from abrasion, as well as practical skills in planting mangroves properly and correctly in areas that are prone to abrasion. Evaluation was carried out through the distribution of pre- and post-education questionnaires, observations and interviews, which showed a significant increase in students' environmental awareness, knowledge and skills. The EduMangrove program shows the great potential of using multimedia learning in increasing environmental awareness and student involvement in coastal conservation efforts.
