Abstract

As writing belongs to one of the four English skills to be mastered by students and it is a very important component of communication, it is important to investigate the relationship of some affective aspects with students’ achievement in writing. Therefore, it is hopefully that English teachers or lecturers will be able to find the best solution for their students’ difficulties in learning writing. It was a correlational study consisting of three variables namely self-esteem (X1), writing motivation (X2), and writing achievement (Y). This study was going to investigate and answer four questions related to the correlation of the variables by administering questionnaires and a writing test to 50 out of 81 students of the fifth semester of STKIP Muhammadiyah Kotabumi-Lampung Utara. The questionnaires were used to collect the data of students’ self-esteem and writing motivation, while the writing test was conducted to measure the students’ writing achievement by asking the students to write a simple expository paragraph in accordance with the topics provided. The data analysis  resulted the H0 hypotheses were all rejected and Ha hypotheses were all accepted. To sum up, there is significant correlation among self-esteem, writing motivation and writing achievement of the fifth semester students of STKIP Muhammadiyah Kotabumi-Lampung Utara. Key Words: Self-Esteem, Writing Motivation, Writing Achievement

Abstract

Self-Esteem (nilai diri) merupakan salah satu aspek dalam diri siswa yang berada pada ranah afektif (psikologi). Self-esteem merupakan aspek yang penting untuk diukur atau diketahui karena merupakan suatu persepsi tentang bagaimana seseorang memberikan penilaian terhadap dirinya sendiri. Dengan mengetahui bagaimana nilai yang diberikan siswa kepada diri mereka sendiri, guru akan mampu lebih selektif dalam menerapkan strategi pembelajaran agar mampu mencapai hasil yang maksimal dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif yang bertujuan mendeskripsikan bagaimana self-esteem (nilai diri) mahasiswa tahun pertama Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di STKIP Muhamamadiyah Kotabumi terhadap 50 orang mahasiswa sebagai sampel yang diambil secara acak menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan menggunakan angket yang disusun dengan skala Likert untuk selanjutnya dianalisis dan dikategorisasikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 28% mahasiswa memiliki self-esteem yang tinggi, 66% mahasiswa dengan kategori sedang, dan 6% siswa memiliki self-esteem yang rendah. Oleh karenanya, disarankan agar dosen yang mengajar pada kelas itu membantu agar mahasiswa tersebut tetap dapat mempertahankan self-esteem (nilai diri) yang positif yang sudah dimiliki serta mampu membantu mahasiswa dengan self-esteem (nilai diri) yang rendah untuk membangunnya menjadi positif atau tinggi melalui penerapan strategi yang relevan.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the differences in phonological elements between two dialects of the Lampung language: Dialect A Peminggir and Dialect O Abung. The research focuses on Lempasing Village, Padang Cermin District, Pesawaran Regency for Dialect A Peminggir, and Bumi Agung Marga Village, East Abung District, North Lampung Regency for Dialect O Abung. The objectives of this study are to describe: (1) the differences in vowel phonemes between Dialect A Peminggir and Dialect O Abung, (2) the differences in consonant phonemes between Dialect A Peminggir and Dialect O Abung, (3) the characteristics of diphthongs and vowel lines in Dialect A Peminggir and Dialect O Abung, (4) the differences in clusters and consonants between Dialect A Peminggir and Dialect O Abung, and (5) the variations in syllables between Dialect A Peminggir and Dialect O Abung. The study adopts a descriptive analytical method, and data collection involves the use of recording devices, tapes, and other stationery. The research utilizes various techniques, including listening or tapping techniques as basic methods, and advanced techniques such as free listening techniques, fishing techniques, recording techniques, questionnaires, and recording techniques. The results of the study demonstrate both differences and similarities in the phonological elements of Dialect A Peminggir and Dialect O Abung in the Lampung language.

Abstract

The aim of the research is find out seven reader response strategies can encourage students’ literacy ability through lesson study. The method of research is Lesson Study-based Action Research. While the subjects in the action research in this lesson study are the fifth semester students of English education study program which consist of 28 students. The instruments used are observation and test. The data used in this study are qualitative and quantitative data. Related to the result of students score in cycle one shows that there are 3 students who categorized in very good, 10 students who categorized in good, 15 students who categorized in enough, and there were not categorized in poor and very less. Based on the result of observation and students score have not good enough categorized so it needed improvement on the next stage or next cycle that is second cycle. Related to the result of students score in cycle one shows that there are 10 students who categorized in very good, 13 students who categorized in good, 5 students who categorized in enough, and there were not categorized in poor and very less. Based on the result of observation and students score have mostly very good and good categorized so it means that there are improvement from cycle one to cycle two.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas tentang pentingnya peran manajemen dalam meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia (SDM) dalam konteks organisasi modern. Fokus utamanya adalah mengeksplorasi bagaimana gaya kepemimpinan, keterlibatan kepemimpinan, dan praktik manajemen dapat membentuk dan memperkuat kapabilitas dan produktivitas SDM. Metode penelitian yang digunakan meliputi tinjauan literatur, analisis data survei, dan studi kasus terhadap organisasi yang telah berhasil mengintegrasikan kepemimpinan efektif dengan pengembangan SDM. Temuan penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang hubungan kompleks antara manajemen dan pengembangan SDM, membuka jalan bagi rekomendasi praktis bagi para pemimpin organisasi dan profesional SDM. Implikasi praktis dan teoritis dari penelitian ini akan membantu memperkaya pemahaman kita tentang bagaimana kepemimpinan dapat berperan sebagai katalis untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan kontribusi sumber daya manusia serta menciptakan landasan yang kuat bagi pertumbuhan berkelanjutan di era bisnis yang terus berkembang.

Abstract

Students who learn English are said to be successful if they can use the language to communicate. Therefore, students are expected to be able to communicate using English fluently. However, in reality students rarely use English even in speaking class. The aim of this study was to describe students’ motivation in English speaking learning using E-Module. This research was quantitative descriptive method. The samples were 44 students who were determined by using total sampling technique. The research instrument used in the research for collecting the data was a questionnaire. There were 50 statements in the questionnaire, then the score categorized into three categories such as low, medium, and high. The results of the analysis showed that there were 9 students or 20% categorized as low, 30 students or 68% students were categorized as medium, and 5 students or 12% students were categorized as high. It can be concluded that students’ motivation in English speaking learning using E-Module was medium

Abstract

Analisis Determinan Matriks untuk Solusi Kongruensi Linear. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran determinan matriks dalam menentukan solusi sistem kongruensi linear serta mengimplementasikannya menggunakan perhitungan manual. Penelitian ini menggunakan prosedur penelitian berupa pengisisan pada google form, dan penghitungan manual. Sistem kongruensi linier merupakan salah satu tema dalam bidang aljabar khususnya teori bilangan. Sistem kongruensi linier seringkali disamakan dengan sistem persamaan linier. Namun terdapat perbedaan diantara keduanya yaitu jika sistem persamaan linier bekerja pada himpunan bilangan riil, maka sistem kongruensi linier bekerja pada himpunan bilangan bulat modulo. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu menyelesaikan sistem kongruensi linier menggunakan metode Determinan. Dimana metode Determinan Matriks sendiri merupakan metode analitik dalam penyelesaian sistem persamaan linier. Metode determinan matriks yaitu dikhususkan untuk sistem kongruensi linier pada himpunan bilangan bulat modulo. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu penelitian kepustakaan dengan mengumpulkan beberapa literatur seperti artikel ataupun referensi-referensi yang berkaitan dengan penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian berupa rumus umum yang diselesaikannya secara manual menggunakan penyelesaian sistem kongruensi linier.
