Abstract

Meningkatnya polarisasi identitas keagamaan dan kecenderungan sikap keberagamaan eksklusif menjadi tantangan serius bagi masyarakat multikultural. Kondisi tersebut menempatkan pendidikan, khususnya Pendidikan Islam, sebagai arena strategis dalam membentuk identitas keagamaan moderat. Identitas keagamaan moderat dipahami sebagai orientasi keberagamaan yang seimbang, toleran, dan adaptif terhadap kemajemukan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kontribusi kurikulum Pendidikan Islam dalam pembentukan identitas keagamaan moderat berdasarkan kajian literatur ilmiah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode tinjauan literatur terhadap buku akademik, artikel jurnal nasional dan internasional, serta dokumen kebijakan pendidikan Islam. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis isi untuk mengidentifikasi konsep, pola, dan kecenderungan pemikiran akademik terkait relasi antara kurikulum Pendidikan Islam dan identitas keagamaan moderat. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum Pendidikan Islam berkontribusi secara signifikan dalam pembentukan identitas keagamaan moderat melalui perumusan tujuan pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada moderasi beragama, pengorganisasian materi ajar yang inklusif dan kontekstual, penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran dialogis dan reflektif, serta sistem evaluasi yang mencakup aspek kognitif, afektif, dan sosial. Integrasi nilai-nilai moderasi beragama dalam keseluruhan komponen kurikulum terbukti berperan dalam membentuk orientasi keberagamaan peserta didik yang seimbang dan kontributif terhadap kehidupan sosial. Kajian ini menegaskan pentingnya pengembangan kurikulum Pendidikan Islam yang secara sistematis mengarusutamakan nilai moderasi beragama sebagai upaya membangun identitas keagamaan moderat dalam konteks masyarakat plural. Abstract

This study examines the concept of multicultural Islamic education in the thought of KH Muhammad Tholhah Hasan as a theoretical framework for inclusive social development. The background of this research is the increasing social, cultural, and religious plurality that demands an educational approach capable of strengthening social cohesion and inclusivity. This study employs a qualitative approach with a library research design. Data were collected through documentation of primary sources in the form of KH Muhammad Tholhah Hasan’s works, as well as secondary sources consisting of scholarly books and journal articles relevant to Islamic education, multiculturalism, and social development. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis and thematic analysis to identify core concepts, values, and theoretical propositions. The findings indicate that KH Muhammad Tholhah Hasan conceptualizes Islamic education not merely as a means of transmitting religious doctrine, but as an instrument for internalizing ethical values, social responsibility, and public morality grounded in Islamic teachings. Multiculturalism is understood as an ethical praxis rooted in Islamic values rather than moral relativism. This study concludes that multicultural Islamic education in KH Muhammad Tholhah Hasan’s thought functions as a cultural mechanism that strengthens social cohesion and supports inclusive social development. Abstract

Proficiency in the Arabic language is imperative in the context of Islamic education. However, the effective study of Arabic remains a challenge, hindering students' abilities to engage with Islamic texts and communicate in Arabic-speaking environments. Focusing on Pesantren Raudhatul Ulum-Pati, this study investigates the strategies and challenges associated with enhancing Arabic speaking skills in traditional Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren). Specific teaching techniques employed by instructors at this pesantren, aimed at improving students' Arabic speaking abilities, as well as the challenges impeding fluency, were examined through a qualitative research design, including classroom observations and interviews with teachers, administrators, and students. The outcomes highlight the importance of innovative methods and shed light on issues such as a lack of exposure to Arabic-speaking environments. The program implemented in this pesantren serves as an exemplary model for other traditional Islamic boarding schools seeking to elevate their students' proficiency in the Arabic language. The findings of this study hold significant implications for all traditional Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia.
