Abstract

The Malay World is known as an area inhabited by gentle and peace-loving people. This happens because this area has a history of interacting with foreign nations and major world religions. However, this image of peace changed when extremist movements appeared in the name of salafi jihad. The main objective of this study is to analyze the Islam-based sociology of extremism based on literature sources. It consists of primary and secondary sources produced by extremists and religious authorities. The data from these two sources are analyzed critically and use a historical perspective to identify the details of this religious extremism's teachings. This study found that the religious extremism detected in the Malay world stems from the understanding of the concepts of takfir and jihad that deviate from the teachings of Islam. These two concepts have been brought to life by the neo-Khawarij (Salafi Jihad) movement that uses ICT, especially modern social media. This causes this religious extremism movement to be welcomed by some community members.

Abstract

Abstract

In 2017 the Indonesian government has officially banned two Islamic da'wah movements, HTI (Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia) and FPI (Islamic Defenders Front). These two da'wah movements are considered to be contrary to Pancasila ideology because they want to establish an Islamic state (Khilafah) in Indonesia. The focus of this research was carried out in the branch areas of HTI and FPI, namely in West Java and Banten. The data in this paper come from direct observation, in-depth interviews and documentation review. This paper finds differences in the pattern of the dakwah movements of HTI and FPI after they were disbanded, both in the dissemination of ideas and in the pattern of recruitment. HTI implemented a massive migration in preaching the idea of a khilafah from direct (offline) efforts to indirect (online) efforts. In its recruitment, HTI continues to maintain its conventional efforts through face-to-face preaching (Daurah), with the addition of using wing organizations as its spearhead. Meanwhile, the decline in the da'wah movement occurred in FPI, mainly due to the absence of the Grand Imam Rizieq Shihab and the loss of elite support for them. Even so, FPI continues to maintain its da'wah activities by disseminating its ideas through recitations at its activist headquarters, mosques and Islamic boarding schools. This research can contribute to the enrichment of the analysis of the hidden da'wah movement that occurs in the field, especially with the front stage and back stage approaches of Erving Goffman.

Always influenced by internal interactions associated with the state of society. This study uses a descriptive method with qualitative data types. This research is located in Cibeureum Village, Kertasari District, Bandung Regency. The researcher chose this location because it is close to where the author lives, so it can facilitate research in obtaining research data. The subject of this research is family. The results of this study indicate that the family environment is seen as the main determining factor in child development. Therefore, the family's contribution to parenting children with Down syndrome must be well established. Good socialization will make it easier for children to adjust to society later.

Abstract

This article discusses Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia's new member recruitment strategy after the government disbanded them through Perppu on Community Organization Number 2 of 2017. The research method used is qualitative through data collection, observation, interview, and document review. This research found that Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia changed its strategy from open recruitment to using strategies through informal groups and individuals in recruiting members behind closed doors, especially after they were banned by the government in 2017, namely through the student movement, through the activities of figures in mosques, and women. According to HTI, these three strategies have a safe tendency because they can be done secretly and escape the control of the government and mass organizations that oppose them. According to HTI, the student movement is considered necessary because they are educated citizens who have the potential to become agents of change in society. Meanwhile, the mosque is the center of Muslim activity, where the recruitment of DKM administrators, preachers, and congregants can accelerate the preaching of the Khilafah. Meanwhile, the use of women as another HTI recruitment agent is done because the HTI doctrine believes in the importance of women as pillars of civilization. This article argues that although the government has banned HTI, they are still fighting back, mainly through invisible and covert means.
