Developing Islamic English instructional materials based on school-based curriculum Zaitun Qamariah

This study was a research and development (R&D) which is basically aimed at developing English instructional materials based on School-based Curriculum for the first-year students of MAN Model Palangka Raya. This study involved: need analysis, reference study, material development, expert validation, try out (empirical validation), and revision. The data were gathered through observation, questionnaires, interview, and validation technique. The result of the need analysis shows that the students are in need of English instructional materials relevant to their major content needs and school characteristics. However, the existing English instructional materials used by the teachers and the first-grade students of MAN Model Palangka Raya as a senior high school with Islamic feature still served from available published course books which are too general and still do not reflect the need of the students and particular characteristics of the school. English instructional materials developed in this study is intended to develop English instructional materials which could provide a set of instructional materials to accomodate the Islamic characteristics and the needs of the first-year students of MAN Model Palangka Raya. For the purpose, the materials were adopted and adapted from some Islamic textbooks and Islamic reading websites.

The aim of the study was to discuss the quality of reading materials in a textbook “Bahasa Inggris” for secondary school which was used in SMK 2 Palangka Raya based on Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan (BSNP) criteria in term of aspect of content, language, and presentation. The research utilized a descriptive qualitative approach. The design of study conducted content analysis. The instruments were observation checklist based on BSNP criteria. Secondary instrument was documentation to support primary instrument. The researcher found that dominantly of the aspects fulfilled. However, a point of six in aspect of content was not found in the English text book. Moreover, two of seven points in presentation aspects did not exist within it. The current study focused on activities and tasks that concluded in an English textbook used in a senior high school in Indonesia based on the TBLT's criteria. This study analyzed the content of an English textbook for senior high school grade X. The subject of this study was an English textbook titled "Pathway to English." The researchers used the qualitative descriptive method, especially in the analysis content, to analyze the tasks in the textbook. The researchers conducted this study in August 2022 at the library of IAIN Palangka Raya. The researchers utilized an observation instrument and an observation assessment form suggested by Akmal. Findings indicated that the textbook matched the standards for a good task based on Akmals' instruments. It showed that eight activities were classified as "strong" tasks, and seven obtained "weak" tasks. Moreover, this book also contains the four language skills with 12 activities of the book has more than one of the language skills in each activity and fulfills the criteria. In conclusion, this study indicates that the book is compatible with the Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) criteria. However, the textbook mostly lacks the aspect of real-life activity and students' negotiation.

This study aimed to find out the relation between mimetic and expressive analysis on â€œBE: LIFE GOES ONâ€ by Bangtan Sonyeondan and the educational implication of these analyses on â€œBE: LIFE GOES ONâ€ by Bangtan Sonyeondan. The researcher used qualitative research.Â The researcher used the mimetic and expressive approach in the study.Â The data collection method was library research in which researchers collected data sources from books, journals, and other supporting sources related to the topic of this research. Therefore, the data of this study appears in the form of words, phrases, and sentences contained in the song lyrics on the album BE: Life Goes on. The researcher found there were meaning and educational values in several poems included in the six songs that had been analyzed. These values are the educational character values promoted by the government to develop virtuous character in the students. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara analisis ekspresif mimetik a nd pada "BE: LIFE GOES ON" oleh Bangtan Sonyeondan Â danÂ implikasi pendidikan dari analisis th ese pada "BE: LIFE GOES ON" oleh Bangtan Sonyeondan. Penelitimenggunakan penelitian kualitatif. Â Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan mimetik dan ekspresif dalam penelitian ini. Metode pengumpulan data adalah penelitian kepustakaan dimana peneliti mengumpulkan sumber data dari buku, jurnal, dan sumber pendukung lainnya yang berkaitan dengan topik penelitian ini. Oleh karena itu, data penelitian ini muncul dalam bentuk kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu pada album BE: Life Goes on. Peneliti menemukan ada makna dan nilai-nilai pendidikan dalam beberapa puisi yang termasuk dalam enam lagu yang telah dianalisis. Nilai-nilai tersebut merupakan nilai-nilai karakter pendidikan yang diusung oleh pemerintah untuk menumbuhkan karakter berbudi luhur pada peserta didik.

English language learning in elementary schools based on the 2013 curriculum is included in local content, where English language learning becomes learning that is not mandatory in elementary schools. However, some elementary schools require their students to learn English, but the schools educator shortages. At the elementary school SDN Bereng Kajang - 1, researcher found that the school has a local content teacher, but the teacher have no basic in english learning. The researcher's goal is to improve English learning through vocabulary material with flashcard media. This research uses the CAR (Classroom Action Research) method in which this research collaborates with the teacher in observing the student learning process while in the classroom. This research was conducted in 2 cycles; the sample of this study was grade 4 students and total of the students are 12. In this study, researcher are more concerned with the process of each cycle stage in order to get satisfactory results.

The purpose of this study is to look at the effect of phubbing in group learning. Phubbing, the behavior of ignoring those around them while using electronic devices, has become increasingly popular in today's digital world. The goal of group learning can be achieved by group members working together in the learning process. The quality of social interaction between group members and the success of learning can be negatively affected by the presence of phubbing in group learning environments. The library research technique used in this research literature review to collect and examine data related to the influence of phubbing in group learning. The findings of this study are expected to provide an overview of how phubbing affects the efficiency of group learning and provide a basis for reducing the adverse impact of phubbing on group learning.

This study discusses the negative impact of YouTube on learning English. This is due to advances in technology and information that have caused many users to use applications, one of which is YouTube which is used as a learning medium, but they are not aware of the effects that will occur if they cannot regulate what they use. they see or hear. Literature research was used in writing this article, which includes collection and analysis from various sources, such as documents, books (e-books), research journals, and other related online articles. After collecting the necessary data, the author reads and documents sources that relate to the topics discussed. The results of the study show that there are many negative impacts of YouTube that arise because of a lack of understanding in selecting quality English learning materials.

This research paper titled "Semiotic Analysis of Modern Drink Advertisements on The Palangkaraya Cafe Instagram Account" delves into the realm of modern drink advertisements in the digital age. It explores the significance of semiotics in understanding the hidden messages conveyed by advertisements in the context of cafes. The study aims to answer two main research questions: What kinds of signs exist in modern drink advertisements, and what meanings are conveyed by these signs? The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing interviews and documentation as data collection methods. The study's primary focus is on three cafes in the Palangkaraya area: Taguk Ha Cafe, Nakaya Cafe, and Yomi Cafe, with a specific emphasis on modern drink advertisements from their Instagram accounts. Data analysis follows a systematic process, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verifying. The researcher uses Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory to analyze the signs in the advertisements, distinguishing between icons, indices, and symbols. The result of this research shows In essence, language and symbolic signifiers in advertising transcend the boundaries of brand communication. They become the conduits through which desires are kindled, emotions are stirred, and aspirations are awakened in the audience. Whether through carefully crafted language or the strategic use of symbols, advertisers have at their disposal a rich palette of tools to engage consumers on a profound and deeply meaningful level, thereby forging connections that extend beyond the realm of commerce.

Mastery of English vocabulary is very important in preparing the younger generation to face future challenges. This research investigates the efficacy of using video media, especially animation, as an innovative learning tool for teaching English vocabulary to children. Previous research has shown that video media, including animation, significantly helps children understand and retain English vocabulary. Considering the optimal learning conditions for elementary school students, which are characterized by fun games and experiences, the use of video media is expected to create an interesting learning environment and increase student interest. This research uses a qualitative approach that combines participant observation and documentation. These findings underline the positive impact of video media, especially animation, on English vocabulary acquisition. Challenges such as limited time and teachers' unfamiliarity with using video media are also known. This research determines the influence of teacher motivation factors, parental support, and student activity in the learning process. Furthermore, this research not only highlights the role of video media in teaching English vocabulary but also explores strategies to improve children's learning outcomes and overcome learning barriers.
