Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the relevance of reading materials in the “Bahasa Inggris” textbook for Vocational High School students in the XI grade, as well as the good textbook criteria proposed by Pusat Perbukuan, the Ministry of National Education, in terms of content, presentation, language use, and readability. The research used a descriptive qualitative study with a content analysis design. The instruments used to collect the data were a document study and observation in the form of checklists. The results demonstrated that the textbook "Bahasa Inggris" fulfilled the Pusat Perbukuan's recommendations for good learning materials. Because the average fulfillment score is 82.1 percent, the textbook is rated a "good" textbook. The textbook appeared adequate for use in the teaching-learning process, but it could be improved. Keywords:  Reading Materials, Textbook, Pusat Perbukuan Criteria

Abstract

The aim of the study was to discuss the quality of reading materials in a textbook “Bahasa Inggris” for secondary school which was used in SMK 2 Palangka Raya based on Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan (BSNP) criteria in term of aspect of content, language, and presentation. The research utilized a descriptive qualitative approach. The design of study conducted content analysis. The instruments were observation checklist based on BSNP criteria. Secondary instrument was documentation to support primary instrument. The researcher found that dominantly of the aspects fulfilled. However, a point of six in aspect of content was not found in the English text book. Abstract

This research was motivated by the problems faced by some students in learning English. The problem that generally occurs was difficulty in English vocabulary. This objective in study was measured the effectiveness of Task-Based Learning on students’ vocabulary skill. on class XII students at MA Darul Ulum class 2020/2021 in Palangka Raya. This study used quantitative research methods with a quasi-experiment design. Researchers did the treatment and calculated the results of their pre-test and post-test scores. The researchers used two classes as samples where these two classes were from the control class and the experimental class which consisted of 56 people. the results of the analysis obtained a significance value of 0.02, it shows that the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. In addition, the average value of the initial test of the experimental class was 49.92 and their scores increased on the post-test results to 72.92. Keywords:  Task-Based Learning, Vocabulary Skill, Experiment Study

Abstract

Mastery of English vocabulary is very important in preparing the younger generation to face future challenges. This research investigates the efficacy of using video media, especially animation, as an innovative learning tool for teaching English vocabulary to children. Previous research has shown that video media, including animation, significantly helps children understand and retain English vocabulary. Considering the optimal learning conditions for elementary school students, which are characterized by fun games and experiences, the use of video media is expected to create an interesting learning environment and increase student interest. This research uses a qualitative approach that combines participant observation and documentation. These findings underline the positive impact of video media, especially animation, on English vocabulary acquisition. Challenges such as limited time and teachers' unfamiliarity with using video media are also known. This research determines the influence of teacher motivation factors, parental support, and student activity in the learning process. Furthermore, this research not only highlights the role of video media in teaching English vocabulary but also explores strategies to improve children's learning outcomes and overcome learning barriers.

Abstract

Boneka jari dengan berbagai karakter adalah salah satu media pembelajaran yang sangat penting untuk menumbuhkan minat anak dan menarik perhatian mereka selama proses pembelajaran. Boneka jari memberi anak-anak kesempatan untuk belajar secara alami dan tanpa dipaksakan. Studi ini melihat bagaimana boneka jari karakter hewan digunakan sebagai alat pembelajaran di panti asuhan Griya Yatim & Dhuafa Palangka Raya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendorong dan meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa anak-anak, terutama dalam berbicara, dan meningkatkan motivasi mereka dalam belajar. Dengan menggunakan teknik demonstrasi, boneka jari diperkenalkan kepada anak-anak usia dini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa boneka jari karakter hewan dapat menjadi media pembelajaran yang efektif dan menarik bagi anak-anak usia dini. Anak-anak menunjukkan minat yang besar dalam belajar menggunakan boneka jari dan sangat terlibat dalam sesi demonstrasi. Selain itu, mereka memiliki kemampuan untuk memahami dan membedakan karakteristik karakter hewan yang ditunjukkan.

Abstract

A Teacher and students are the main aspects of English learning. Collaboration in learning must also fill one another. Students not know much about English, even though there were learning targets that had to be achieved. Meanwhile, English is a lesson that should get a lot of practice. The research gap in this study is the focus on the pronunciation aspect because previous studies only focused on speaking in general. The purpose of this study is to find out Total Physical Response (TPR) leaning model can improve students learning achievement in English speaking. Additionally, this study employs the primary technique of total physical reaction (tpr), which is adjusted by fusing it with a communicative learning strategy to increase the study's accuracy, particularly in terms of improving the students who serve as the research subjects. The findings in this study showed that students were very enthusiastic when practicing, only a littles less confident. However, it will be overcome with a sense of habit from each student. The result is that students have felt a lot of difference in mentioning a vocabulary and no longer hesitate in trying to speak English. Based on the hypothesis results, the students' pretest and posttest scores using the T-test, the hypothesis results indicated that there was no significant difference between the posttest results and the standardized English scores after treatment with the modified Total Physical Response (TPR) learning model. The hypothesis result using the T-Test test is 0.073 which is greater than 0.05 in accordance with the decision-making reference.
