Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh jenis industri, kepemilikan manajerial, kepemilikan institusional, kepemilikan asing, risiko perusahaan, dan efisiensi dalam investasi modal intelektual terhadap kinerja modal intelektual (VAIC). Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif, dengan populasi Finalis Indonesian MAKE Study tahun 2013, 2014, dan 2015 sebanyak 81 organisasi. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan purposive sampling technique dengan sampel sebanyak 32 perusahaan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dokumentasi. Data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder berupa laporan keuangan tahunan dari perusahaan sampel tahun 2013, 2014, dan 2015 yang diunduh di BEI. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah statistik deskriptif dan analisis regresi berganda, dengan menggunakan bantuan aplikasi SPSS windows 21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kinerja modal intelektual pada perusahaan sampel termasuk ke dalam kategori top performance. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa kinerja modal intelektual perusahaan dengan jenis industri research intensive lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan jenis not research intensive. Simpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu variabel jenis industri, kepemilikan manajerial, risiko perusahaan, efisiensi dalam investasi modal intelektual memiliki pengaruh terhadap kinerja modal intelektual, sedangkan kepemilikan institusional dan kepemilikan asing tidak memiliki pengaruh terhadap kinerja modal intelektual. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the type of industry, managerial ownership, institutional ownership, firm risk, and efficiency in the intellectual capital performance (VAIC) investment of the intellectual capital. This type of research is quantitative research, with a population of Indonesian MAKE Study finalist in 2013, 2014, and 2015 as many as 81 organizations. Samplin technique by using purposive sampling technique with a sample of 32 companies. Data collection technique used were documentation. The data used are secondary dara from the annual financial statements of the company until 2013, 2014, and 2015 are downloaded on the Stock Exchange. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis, using the SPSS application support Windows 21. The results showed that the performance of intellectual capital in the sample firms fall into the category of top performance. The study also shows that the performance of the companys intellectual capital to the type of intensive research industry is higher than other types of intensive research notes. Conclutions of this analysis, the variabel types of industry, managerial ownership, firm risk, and intellectual capital investment efficiency has an influence on the intellectual capital performance, whereas the institutional ownership, and foreign ownership has no effect on the intellectual capital performance.

Abstract

This paper aims at describing the stages of developing vocabulary worksheet by using affixes by adopting the process of the same development research of Wutsqo. The stages of vocabulary worksheet development involved the needs analysis, the making of the vocabulary worksheet, the validation process by the reviewer, the make up of the first design based on the feedback by the reviewer, and the try out. the object of this study  was the students of Grammar for English Teacher class of the academic year 2014/2015. The instruments of this study were pre-test as the initial needs analysis of the students capability of vocabulary stock that they had. The second instrument was the previous research data that was conducted by the researchers to identify how necessary to develop an effective vocabulary learning. The third instrument were three two of questionaires. The first one was for the reviewer to validate the first design of the worksheet and to ask for the feedback, and the second one was for the students in order to identify their personal impression towards the worksheet. The results of this study are; 1) Based on the assessment validator can be concluded that the aspect of validity has met the criteria development vocabualry student worksheet to learn the material additive that has been prepared to have a very good quality, 2) Based on the recommendation of experts and providers of materials, practicality aspect has fulfilled the minimum criteria with certain notes on 21st century learning, 3) The results of the pre-test and post-test student learning augmentation material by using SVW has met the minimum criteria of improvement.

Abstract

The use of language learning strategies might be influenced by many factors such as gender, background cultures, career orientation and learning settings. In vocational setting, career orientation become an issue that needs a concern. The choice of department as career orientation is suspected to affect different strategies in learning English. This study aimed to identify the language learning strategies employed by the vocational high school students and to find out the differences in strategy use between two majors. This study involved 95 students from automotive engineering and electrical engineering of vocational high school students. Strategies Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) questionnaire which was constructed by Oxford (1990) was used in this study. Six domains were included in this questionnaire: Memory, Cognitive, Compensatory, Metacognitive, Affective, and Social. There are 50 items with 5 likert points in data completion. To analyze the data, SPSS and Microsoft Excel were used by the researcher. Results showed that there was a difference (M=9.168) in language learning strategies use of electrical engineering and automotive engineering students. Furthermore the metacognitive strategy was the most used while the memory strategy was the least used by the students.

Abstract

Translanguaging is a tool for bilingual or multilingual to learn more than one language.  In the field of linguistic, translanguaging is not something new. However, its implementation is still found rare in higher education. To fill this void, this study aims to investigate the implementation of translanguaging in classroom, especially in higher education. This research was intended to answer how helpful translanguaging practices in EFL Classroom is. By using qualitative method, the data were collected by recording two credits full face-to-face classroom interaction. One lecturer and her forty-five students voluntarily became the research participants.  The data were then analyzed by using thematic analysis. The findings showed that the practices were helpful in a way that the tutors could build an engaging dialogue for the students, enabling them to understand the complex learning materials. These findings then implied that in the teaching and learning process, EFL lecturers tend to be more attentive as they prefer to have their students understanding on complex subject to build English proficiency of their students’.

Abstract

This paper is aimed at describing the students’ perception of the implementation of problem-based learning during the Materials Development course in the eve semester 2018. The participants were 58 students of English pre-service teachers. The data were collected through the 58 reflective writings at the end of the course, and the observation recording during the group discussion. Through qualitative analysis, there are five positive themes, and two negative themes found in the reflective writings. This study found that among three characteristics of Problem based learning, most of the students perceived positively in stimulating critical thinking and devoting authentic experiences. Whereas, there are also some students who perceived problem-based learning as challenging, especially in technical obstacles such as; the appearing of the lecturer’s stress during discussion session; not engaging friends in a group.

Abstract

Culture shock aspect is such a common issue that is experienced among students who studyabroad. The causes of culture shock aspect usually are anxiety and the lack of interculturalcommunication competence. Most of studies in the previous study tend to discuss the importanceof intercultural communication competence and only describe the kinds of culture shock. Thus,to fill this empirical void, this study aims to investigate Thai student teachers’ experiences ofintercultural communication competence and how they handle their culture shock during study inIndonesia. In order to understand more about culture shock aspects, we used culture shock andaxiety theory by Oberg (1960) and Dörnyei (2005). The study is employed qualitative method.Participants in this research were two Thai student teachers who have lived for more or less 4years in one of Islamic universities in Yogyakarta., They are from different batch and major. Thedata were obtained by in-depth interview. We analyzed the data by using thematic analysismethod by Braun & Clarke (2006). The finding showed that all participants experienced theculture shock symptoms stages, such as tension of adaptation, sense of loss and rejection fromenvironment, rejected by new culture, unpredictable anxiety, and feeling of helplessness at thefirst time they studied in Indonesia. There was also an interesting finding that both of them hadthe lack of intercultural communication competence, and also the anxiety leads them to survivein Indonesia. Abstract

This study was implemented in private Islamic secondary school in Yogyakarta. This study aims to support student motivation in studying English with multimedia as the assistance. The use of multimedia such as pictures, videos, and games are expected to create an active atmosphere of learning and teaching. This practice was conducted for four times and the result show that students were very engage while studying English and the class atmosphere become more fun and less monotone. How is the use of multimedia mediates activity to teach formal invitation in a private Islamic Secondary School? I learned that students demonstrated better learning engagement during the lesson. In addition, it also encourage the students to be more creative and active. Keywords: Multimedia: Learning Media: Teaching English

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the argument structure of undergraduate students’ research articles that focus on the introduction section. The data collection was conducted by analyzing the proceedings in the "Background" section written by undergraduate students at university in Indonesia. The data were then analyzed by using a corpus. This research found type of argument of this study were proclaim, disclaim, entertain, and attribute. The lexical choice that was used proclaim with a total of 46. The lexemes entertain a total of 37. The next lexical choice that was used is disclaim with a total of 33. Finally, attribute a total of 26 as the lowest engagement in appraisal.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the infusion of moral value in English textbooks for middle school in Indonesia. The data were collected through transferring and normalizing the written data from a commercial English textbook entitled: English on Sky 2 for SMP/MTs kelas VII to the Antconc software. The data were analyzed by using corpus based analysis. In order to employ this type of analysis, we used the AntConc corpus analysis software and using vocabularies adopted by previous researchers. The findings of this research showed that the moral values that are represented in this textbook there are two moral values, which are values toward others and values toward self. For values toward others, there are sub values such as conveying kindness, as example is being helpful, and keeping promise; showing respect, such as asking permission and apologizing; showing affection, such as giving compliments, showing close relation with God. Moreover, for moral values towards self such as conveying how to appreciate, accept, yourself.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the data related to teacher’s perception on the use of online assessment for assessing reading comprehension in higher education. In this study, the researcher used Qualitative Approach, which is thematic analysis is the foundation method of qualitative research. To identify the teacher perception on the use online assessment to assess reading comprehension, researcher will used interview to collect the data. The participants in this study were intensive reading lecturers of English language education program in Yogyakarta. The results of this study indicate that reading comprehension assessment using the online platform as a tool can assist teachers in assessing student work. In addition, by not giving restrictions to students in working on the task of making answers to their assignments beyond the teacher's expectations.
