Abstract

Land use change will lead to the urban development dynamics beginning with physical changes, functional changes, spatial changes, socioeconomic changes, as well as demographic changes. Different land uses can offer different land rent or land values. Therefore, urban dynamic lead to the expansion of city’s boundaries caused by land use change. The purpose of this study is to identify the level of change in the biased land value which is used to indicate the urban dynamics in corridor of Semarang-Ungaran and Semarang - Mranggen. This research method using GIS analysis to show the changes of land value. The result shows that the land value can be used to perceive the urban dynamics in both corridors.

Abstract

The complex mobility in Semarang city requires the efficient and effective provision and services of public transportation. Due to the condition of public transportation services is not proper, so it requires the presence of online transportation. Online transportation services have a flexibility (in routes and time) and it seems the society has their own private vehicles. Online transportation prices is more expensive than private vehicles or public transportation. But it provides flexibility and convenience as one of the alternative transportation mode.

Abstract

The increasing number of human activities from sub urban areas causes high movements in urban areas. The high rate of human movement drives the need for human circulation pathways and adequate transportation systems. To solve this problem, the Semarang City government has actually built transportation facilities in the form of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) along with pedestrian ways. However, in reality the pedestrian ways that acts as a link to the door to door service is not well connected so it is less secure and comfortable and unable to accommodate the needs of the urban community. The purpose of this study was to examine the connectivity between pedestrian networks and BRT shelter in Semarang. The method of analysis in this study used GIS applications to evaluate access pedestrian connectivity to BRT shelther in Banyumanik and Pedurungan, Semarang. The results of the study are the connectivity between pedestrian ways and BRT shelter  in Banyumanik is good on the other side the connectivity in Pedurungan is not good and optimally configured

Abstract

Leuwipanjang Terminal acts as a transportation node connecting Bandung City and centers of activity around it through bus service in the city, inter city and inter province routes. This study examines the performance of Leuwipanjang Terminal in its role in supporting movements between centers of activities in Bandung City using positivistic-quantitative approach through descriptive analysis. Primary data is collected through field observation surveys, questionnaires and interviews with the head of the UPTD (the terminal operator), angkot drivers, and Damri bus conductors. Samples of angkot and Damri passengers are determined through accidental sampling to 100 people while samples of drivers and conductors are determined through purposive sampling. Secondary data is acquired from the Transportation Office and Terminal UPTD. Analysis showed that Leuwipanjang Terminal’s performance is fairly good. The interaction between Leuwipanjang Terminal and centers of activities in Bandung City constructs a dynamic power in the form of centripetal and centrifugal force. The city core center and Ir. H. Juanda Area gave a dynamic centripetal force from the fringes to the city centers, while Surya Sumantri industrial and educational area created a centrifugal force from the city centers to the fringes.

Abstract

Uncontrolled and sprawling urban growth may cause inefficiencies in the city’s provision of public facilities and infrastructures including for transportation, which may then contribute to the failure in the provision of public transport for the community. People are then subjected to provide their own mode of transport in the form of private vehicles. Those who can not, whether due to economic or social factors, are captive to use public transport which is inefficient in terms of cost, time and other service characteristics. As a result, transportation sustainability is difficult to achieve, whether economically (with growing investment and lo cost transportation for the masses), socially (with the guarantee for security and safety for the masses), or ecologically (with low pollution from fuel burning). There is a dire need for a public transport system which can reach the population, one of which in terms of service routes.

Abstract

Limited availability of space in the city center while population number is rapidly increasing causes activity spaces develop in the suburbs. Banyumanik Area is sub-center development of Semarang City which has rapid population growth and developed into new activity centers with the connecting road network that forms the spatial structure. Although new activity and service centers has been established, Banyumanik Area’s residents dependence and number of movements toward city center are still high so indicates that activity centers in this area can’t serve Banyumanik’s residents needs yet. On the other hand, to create sustainable cities that can serve residents needs, Compact City concept has been developed through mixed land use, high density, and efficient public transport. This research aims to analyze compactness characteristics of Banyumanik’s spatial structure, its affecting elements, and its development trend based on experts opinion. This research used positivistic approach with descriptive analysis techniques. The results shows that Banyumanik Area’s spatial structure has not formed compact spaces yet characterized by low density area, mixed land use is growing in a linear form, public transportation has not reach some settlements yet, and dominant used of private vehicles compared to public transport and on foot.

Abstract

The growing number of private transportation ownership from year to year creates congestion problems, especially in urban areas. Public transportation conditions such as the Rapid Transit Bus (BRT) are an alternative way to use transportation. BRT Trans Semarang Corridor 1 is the busiest public transportation route in Semarang City that stretches from Mangkang Terminal to Penggaron Terminal. About 50% of the passengers of BRT Trans Semarang Corridor 1 chose to walk to and from the bus stops. However, in reality, currently, the conditions of the pedestrian paths are less than optimal in creating pedestrian comfort, and the integration system is still minimal with various modes. The purpose of this study is to identify a travel demand model suitable for pedestrian BRT Trans Semarang Corridor 1 passenger using the new urbanism 3D approach (Density, Diversity, Design). Where the data collection for analysis needs using naturalistic observation techniques by looking at the condition of the object of research in a more real way directly to the field. Density analysis used descriptive statistical analysis methods and simulated interpolation of population and building density data using the ArcGIS 10.3 application to generate pedestrian demand for their environmental density. In analyzing diversity using the land-use distribution simulation method with ArcGIS 10.3 and FAR (Floor Area Ratio) analysis using the 2016 Sketchup simulation. Compile a pedestrian path model recommendation under pedestrian demand.
