Abstract

Background: Smoking behavior among adolescents in Magelang Regency has increased significantly. Many people say that Junior High School (JHS) youth are more often seen in groups and smoke with their friends after school. This has also been confirmed by the school. At JHS Secang Subdistrict, many of them were students from outside the area who moved for one reason or another, such as their parents' jobs. Schools have followed up on smoking cases at school, but many parents pay little attention to their children's behavior and some even allow their children to smoke. Purpose: To determine whether there is a relationship between parenting style and smoking behavior of adolescent boys in JHS Secang District. Methods: The research method uses a correlational quantitative descriptive method to test whether there is a relationship between parenting styles and smoking behavior. Results: The majority of respondents were light smokers with a total of 66 of 98 students (67.3%) and the parenting style used was authoritarian parenting with a total of 45 students (45.9%). Based on the Spearman statistical test, the results obtained were p value = 0.001. This shows that there is a relationship between parenting style and smoking behavior in young boys at Secang District JHS with the strength of the relationship or the correlation coefficient of 2 variables, namely parenting style and smoking behavior has a moderate relationship (0.320). Conclusion: There is a relationship between parenting style and smoking behavior of male teenagers at JHS Secang District.

Abstract

Abstract Introduction: Children under five are included in the vulnerable group, because when children are under five years old, the immunity of children are not yet fully mature, therefore children are susceptible to disease and infection, one of them is Upper Respiratory Tract Infection, therefore support group is needed in this case is parents especially mothers as the closest to the child to protect and avoid or Prevent the Upper Respiratory Tract Infection. Objective: This study describe mothers self-efficacy and prevention efforts for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection in Danurejo, Mertoyudan and knew the relationship between mothers self-efficacy and prevention of Upper Respiratory Tract Infection. Method: This research was a descriptive correlative study with a total sample of 216 respondents with sampling using Accidental Sampling technique. The Characteristics of respondents in this study were the average age of respondents 30-35 years with a mean of 31.25 years with the majority of high school education level. Some respondents were multiparous mothers (children over 1) with an income level of less than 1 million, with respondents coming from middle to lower economic circles. The profession of most respondents were housewives. Results: The results of this study, form the most respondents showed that mothers self efficacy in Danurejo, Mertoyudan was in the high category with a percentage of 71.8% and a low of 28.2%. In an effort of Prevent the Upper Respiratory Tract Infection in Danurejo, Mertoyudan show that none of the respondents had a low prevention effort for Upper Respiratory Infection, because as many as 165 or 74.4% belonged to the moderate category and 51 or 23.6% belonged to the high category. The results of the correlation test using the Spearman Rank obtained p value 0.000 <0.05 with a positive correlation value of 0.588 which indicated that the correlation between Self Efficacy and efforts to prevent Upper Respiratory Infection is significant with a positive correlation direction with moderate correlation strength.

Abstract

Introduction: Preschool children are early childhood aged between 3-6 years, where fine motor development is needed to support their readiness to optimize body movements that involve high accuracy, eye persistence and small muscles such as playing puzzles, mixing colors, drawing with fingers (finger painting). Finger painting is a game with techniques to develop expression, express imagination and creation by painting directly with the fingers without using tools. Finger painting can train the coordination of the muscles of the fingers and eyes, train the combination and combination of colors to make the beauty of the hand movements it does. Objective: This study aims to see the effectiveness of finger painting playing stimulation to improve fine motor skills in preschool age children as a preparation for children to enter the next level of education. Methods: This research is a case study using a purposive sampling method. The sample in this case study is An. M aged 5 years with the results of the developmental pre-screening questionnaire (KPSP) was dubious with the risk factors still having difficulty learning to draw well. The research data was taken using participatory observation methods, unstructured interviews, and documentation. After tabulating the existing data were analyzed using the analysis domain. Results: The results showed that the application of playing finger painting on the risk of developmental disorders experienced by An. M indicates an increase in fine motor development. This is indicated by the observation scores that were carried out pre-test and post-test which were carried out for 3 times in 3 days. Conclusion: The application of playing finger painting can be applied as a stimulation for children to improve fine motor development so as to overcome the problem of risk of developmental disorders.
