Abstract

There were several studies about expatriate leadership that conducted in Indonesia, but those are only focuses on the experience of living and working abroad. Consequently, this study aims to investigate the role of cultural intelligence (CQ) in cross-cultural leadership effectiveness, within the context of Indian-Indonesian cultural differences. Besides, what kind of leadership style that practiced by an expatriate leader as the result of CQ's role. This study used a qualitative method and conducted in one of the international schools in Semarang. The participants of this study contain 5 peoples (an Indian Principal, 2 school coordinators, and 2 teachers). Each participant delivered briefly about all the points that used in this study. The data were gathered by using in-depth interviews to revealed that all aspects in CQ (metacognitive, cognitive, motivational, behavioral) thoroughly have the main role in the Principal’s cross-cultural leadership effectiveness. The result of the data analysis indicate that the Principal has some characteristics of an effective leader, such as communicative, pay attention to the well-being of the staffs, listen carefully to the suggestion from the staffs, and directly see the conditions that faced by the staffs. Besides, the role of CQ also resulted in the Principal's leadership style, which shows bureaucratic but with a touch of nurturant side inside. The Principal is task-oriented, but still,  keep a good relation with the staffs through motivation and praise.

Abstract

This research has purpose to analyze the influence of individualism - collectivism on conflict management style at the individual level (exploratory study of managers in semarang city).The respondent for this research totaled 80 managers of various companies in Semarang city. Technique of sample collection used Purposive Sampling and used a technique double regression analysis , the analysis includes: test the validity of , a test of reliability , test the assumption of the classics , linear regression test doublet test.Research result showed that collectivism has a negative and significant influence on the conflict management style competing, collectivism has a negative and significant influence on the conflict management style avoiding, collectivism has a negative and significant influence on the conflict management style collaborating, collectivism has a negative and significant influence on the conflict management style accomodating, collectivism has a negative and significant influence on the conflict management style compromising.

Abstract

Human resources quality of the company can be measured through employee performance.  Employee’s performance is one of  factors to achieve the company objectives. The factors that affect employee performance are paternalistic leadership style and organizational culture. This research aimed to analyze the effect of paternalistic leadership style and organizational culture on Employee’s performance with employee engagement as the intervening.This  research  were  done  at  PT  Pos  Indonesia  Regional  VI Semarang.  The  data collected from 71  respondent  by using  census. The data  were analysed  by using  double regression by 23th version of SPSS.The Result of this research showed that the effect of paternalistic leadership style and organizational  culture on  employee engagement (as variable intervening)  is positive and significant and the impact of employee engagement on employee’s performance is positive and significant.

Abstract

In a business activity the role of leaders and employees is very influential in achievingthe company's vision and mission, almost all activities in the company involve the role of employees in it. The factor of human resources is an important factor in the development of the company. This research will discuss implementation of Islamic values in the understanding of employees which has an impact on improving employee performance, especially in Sharia Cooperatives.The purpose of this study is to describe the response of employees and leaders to the performance of KSPPS Hudatama employees and analyzing the extent to which employees and leaders understand the values of Islam KSPPS Hudatama.The method used is qualitative method with   case study approach. The reason for selecting these method is so that research can be focused and can be done in depth to find out employees' understanding of working in accordance with Islamic values KSPPS Hudatama and impact on employee performance. From the research results showed that improving  employee  performance  is  not  only  proven  through  numerical  productivity growth reports only but also can shape the behavior of its employees in accordance with Islamic values KSPPS Hudatama. The increase in employee performance was also assisted by the employee training held by KSPPS Hudatama.

Abstract

            Employee performance is an important element in the organization. Like most other organizations, Human Resources Development Agency employess of Central Java Province also faces problems regarding the performance of its employees. Organizational culture issues that have not been fully implemented well and also monotonous working environment conditions that can affect the work motivation that will affect the performance.            This study aims to investigate the influence of organizational culture and work motivation to employee performance of Human Resources Development Agency employees of Central Java Province.            This study uses two independent variables, namely organizational culture and work motivation, as well as the dependent variable of employee performance. The sample in this research is 94 employees of Human Resources Develompent Agency employees of Central Java Province determined by using census method.            Based in multiple linier regression analysis, the result of this study indicate the variables of organizational culture and work motivation have a positive effect on employee performance. Adjusted r square value indicating that the independent variable can explain the dependent variabel of 37,9 % ,while the remaining is influenced by other variables not used in this study.

Abstract

Islam-based  management  is  a  management  practice  which implements Islamic values in management and is currently started to be applied in many companies or businesses. However, due to limited of knowledge of the managers and employees to the values of Islam will lead to the ineffective application of the management practice. This study analyzed the extent to which the relationship and the role of Islamic values influence the aspects of a business. The purpose of the study is to analyze the extent to which the understanding of the owner, manager, and employees regarding Islamic values applied in management. This study also analyze the practice of the management based on Islam at the company and analyze the motivation of employees. The method used is a qualitative method with case study approach. The reasons for selecting this method is that research can focus and can be done in depth to determine the management practices of Islam based on Ayam Bakar Wong Solo Branch Simongan. The results showed that the owners and business practitioners have a good understanding associated with Islamic values which are implemented at the workplace. The Islamic values are implemented within human resources management practices such as human resource planning,  recruitment,  selection,  employment  contracts,  training  and development, performance appraisal and compensation.

Abstract

Employee performance is one of the most important factor in assessing the progress of a company. Performance is influence by several factors, one of them is employee engagement. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of employee engagement  and power distance as the moderator variable to employee performance.             This research was done in Patra Jasa Convention Hotel Semarang. The samples number determined in this research are 89 respondents and used purposive sampling method. As independent variable is employee engagement, moderating variable is power distance and dependent variable is employee performance. This research using simple regression and moderated regression analysis to verify and to prove the research hypotesis.            The results of analysis showed that employee engagement has a positive significant influence to employee performance and power distance may moderate relationship between employee engagement to employee performance.

Abstract

This research was conducted at PT Perkebunan Nusantara IX Divisi Tanaman Tahunan by existence of decrease in employee performance, and supported research gaps that showed different results. So, the purpose of this research is to determine the influence of organizational culture on employee performane through employee development. Data was collected through questionnares to 53 employees with sensus method. The techniques of data analysis in this research includes the test of validity, reliability, classical assumptions, multiple regression, and sobel test to examine the mediation effect. The results analysis and discussion indicates that organizational culture culture have positive and significant effect on employee performance, employee development have positive and significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, employee development is provenn as mediator relathionship between organizational culture on employee performance.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the impact organizational justice to organizational commitment and examine the role of power distance as moderating variable to the relationship between organizational justice to the organizational justice. This research is conducted to the employers of PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Semarang. Using survey method through Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The number of sample used are 77 employees which has represented of six division in PT. PLN (Persero) APJ Semarang.The result shows that organizational justice has positive significant impact  to organizational commitment. Beside, the result of MRA test shows that power distance moderate the relationship between organizational justice and organizational commitment.

Abstract

In Islam, mankind are the leader of themself, and hold the responsibility of their leadership. Leadership known as a ghairu mahdah worship, thus should be guided by Al Quran and Hadist on its practice. Roemani Muhammadiyah hospital is the one and only Muhammadiyah hospital in Semarang. Muhammadiyah is an organization that practices the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. It is certain that the application of Islamic value is present in the hospital. The aim of this study is to analyze the extent to which the following participants appliying Islamic values in leadership functions in the Islamic company. The method used is a qualitative method with case study approach, which data collection conducted by interview, observation, and documentation for certain period. Method selected by reason so that the study can be done with focus and  depth to determine Islamic leadership practiced by the non-medic heads of divisions in Roemani Muhammadiyah hospital, Semarang.The result shows the outlines of Islamic values, applicated and always maintained by the heads of the divisions on their leadership. The Islamic values such as fatanah, amanah, siddiq, and tabligh are showed in the ledership functions as a model, path finder, aligner, and empowerer.
