Abstract

Abstract: This article is about the development of community radio in Indonesia, it is problems and solutions. Community radio in Indonesia developed as an alternative to both public radio and commercial radio after the fall of Soeharto in 1998. Two important features of community radio are that it provides all community members with equal access to information, enhancing their rights and obligations, access to justice, public accountability and also enables them to participate actively in radio management and production. Both features enhance people’s selfawareness and sense of belonging to a community. The expansion of the progressive, participatory, community ownership, and non-profit model of community radio, has become a third sector of communication beside the commercial or state media. The dynamic development of community radio in Indonesia faced several problems starting from it is definition, implementation of regulation until standards of programmes operation based on the concept of community approach and participation

Abstract

The idea of independent political journalism failed to perform during the 2004 general election in Indonesia. Instead of keeping equal distance from the bourgeois dan capitalist interest, a number of the journalists even proud to be able to serve them.

Abstract

Politisi memerlukan sebuah identitas yang disematkan pada dirinya untuk menaikan elektabilitas dalam pemilu. Dan salah satu instrumen untuk mengkomunikasikan identitas tersebut adalah iklan politik. Dalam penelitian ini akan diulas mengenai politik identitas yang dilakukan oleh pasangan Mega-Prabowo dan SBY-Budiono dalam iklan kampanye pemilu tahun 2009. Hasilnya terdapat empat politik identitas yang ditonjolkan, yaitu kenegarawanan, kerakyatan, kemakmuran dan multikultural. Identitas politik kemiskinan dan kerakyatan dilakukan oleh kedua kandidat, adapun identitas kenegarawanan dilakukan oleh pasangan Mega-Prabowo dan identitas multikulturalis dilakukan oleh pasangan SBY-Budiono. Kata Kunci: Politik identitas, iklan politik, komunikasi politik.

Abstract

Public journalism or civic journalism is a movement that has taken over the last ten years in the USA. Public journalism has emerged along side a revival of interest in civil society and civic participation by improving the quality of news coverage,for example by replacing coverage of political strategy with analysis of substantive issues. In public journalism, public can participate in defining their events. According to Broadcasting Law No. 32/2002, Radio of Republic Indonesia (RRI) and Television of Republic Indonesia (TVRI) has become public broadcasting. As a public broadcasting, the use of public journalism is necessary to move government oriented news to public oriented news in both stations's newsroom. Although, there are some conceptual and technical problems in RRI and TVRI, the successful coverage of Saturday's earthquake, May 27,2006 in Yogyakarta could be a lesson that have to be leraned develop amodelofpublicjoumalisminbothinstitutions.

Abstract

The growing up of Indonesian cinema in the period 0/1999-2008 was indicated by the development of creative works and community based alternative cinemas or indie movie. Used a qualitative-descriptive method, writer done a small-research in Yogyakarta around April-September 2009 and found some interesting trends. Yogyakarta has become a very dynamic city in Indonesia in term of independent cinema communities. This research also found three connecting areas that support above situation. First, the actively independent communities in the field of university students and non-university students. Second, the openness of alternative bioscope or cinema room such us Kinoki and Yogyakarta based French Cultural Center. Third, some local and regional film festivals held in Yogyakarta that regularly exhibit independent cinema works. The majority of independent cinema production and communities driven by higher attention to cinema as a popular medium for free expression and critical concern to the current social and political situation. The limitation of infrastructure, regulation protected and public support are some obstacles need to be solved in the future.

Abstract

News program in local television has its own charm for the local civilization more than the news program in the national television. Local Banjarmasin news program, also challenged by another private television station whom broadcasting its program nationally. In order to strengthening its power in competition, TVRI Stasiun Penyiaran Kalimantan Selatan and Banjar TV as a station who have an interesting program have to use what they have in local area. This research has found some discoveries. First, the production process of local news with the material to cover an event start from the idea planning, job distribution and equipment check were done as the standard procedure in broadcasting. Second, production stage, live or recorded, can be executed due to the station decision and the will of corporate management. Any kind of program, live and recorded, should be processed carefully and involving all crew in charge. Third, both of the television station adopted local value within the program, religious theme, cultural outfit, cultural song and also adopted cultural symbol which is shown in the news production process.

Abstract

According to Broadcasting Law Number 32 Year 2002, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) and Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) have become independent public services broadcasting institutions. Until 2012, the transformation of both still faces some obstacles, internally and externally. Both are still encountering identity crisis whether representing public or authority due to strong influence of power—not fully free from government intervention, problem of civil servants professionalism, and budget nomenclature. There is the need for a new and special law of public broadcasting in order to ensure protection and transformation of RRI and TVRI as public service broadcasting in the future.

Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model is still subject to much debate and criticism. Ideally, CSR policy would function as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby business would monitor and ensure their adherence to law, ethical standards, and international norms. In case of mining industry, corporate would embrace responsibility for the impact of their activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere. In South Sumatera and Jambi Province, CSR which was implemented through various community development programs is still face many problems such us limitation of fund, skilled staff and conflict resolution based approach. Still there is a need to transform the concept of CSR from corporate charity or corporate philanthropy to corporate citizenship.

Abstract

Conflict and controversy on broadcast regulation in Indonesia, come from the collaboration of various thoughts and interests in the process of law decision. Result of qualitative analysis on Broadcasting Law no. 32/2002 and some lower government policies indicates that, there were economic and political thoughts influencing the Law. The three thoughts were authoritarianism, neo-liberalism and democracy. Authoritarianism existed in rule that, government remain hold broadcast frequency licensing such as in The New Order era. Neo liberalism was included in regulation to allowing foreign capital and human resources entering broadcast industry and proposal to private RRI (Indonesian Republic Radio) and TVRI (Indonesian Republic Television). Democratization existed in rule to place an Independent regulatory body, to replace government position. Both ideas, to revise Law no. 32/2002 and government neutral position in this process are the alternative solutions to minimize conflict among stakeholders.
