Abstract

Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of cognitive muscle therapy on improving lumbar function in low back pain. The sample consisted of 40 people and was selected based on random sampling techniques using the available questionnaire. The sample was grouped into two treatment groups, treatment group I consisted of 20 people with Cognitive Muscle Therapy and treatment group II consisted of 20 people with Cognitive Muscle Therapy. Method: This study is a type of quasi-experimental pre-post test design. Statistical analysis of this study used the Related T-Test test and the Independent T-Test test. The results of the homogeneity test of the treatment group before exercise with a p value = 0.008. The results of the Related T-Test test in treatment group I with a p value = 0.001 and in treatment group II with a p value = 0.001 means that the exercise given to each group has an effect on improving Lumbar Function. And the results of the Independent T-Test showed a p value = 0.001 which means there is a very significant effect between treatment group I and treatment group II. It can be concluded that there is a very significant effect of Cognitive Muscle Therapy for Improving Lumbar Function in Low Back Pain. In this study, it is recommended that the exercise method can be applied with the correct procedure, carried out for more than 1 month because the improvement of Lumbar Function will be better if done for 2-3 months, and it is hoped that things that can affect the results of the study can be minimized in order to achieve optimal results.

The community service activity entitled "Building a Smart Society: Reading for the Future" The community service activity entitled "Building a Smart Society: Reading for the Future in Early Childhood" aims to increase children's interest in reading and strengthen the role of parents and teachers in fostering a culture of literacy from an early age. The background of this activity is the low interest in reading among Indonesian children caused by a lack of access to reading materials, minimal guidance from parents, and increasing dependence on gadgets. Through this program, it is hoped that parents and teachers will be able to understand the importance of guiding children in fun, interactive, and continuous reading activities. The implementation method of the activity includes lectures, discussions, questions and answers, and observations, involving teachers and parents of early childhood children in the Mangga Dua Selatan RPTRA environment. Evaluation was carried out using pre-tests and post-tests to measure the increase in participants' knowledge. The results of the activity showed an increase in the average score of participants from 59.5 to 84.5 with an N-Gain Score of 0.6 which is included in the moderate category. This proves that the activity is quite effective in improving parents' ability to guide children in reading. This community service activity contributes positively to building awareness of the importance of family literacy as the main foundation for the formation of the next generation. intelligent and competitive. This program is expected to continue to be implemented sustainably to strengthen the reading culture in the community.

Abstract

Balance disorders are among the most common functional problems experienced by older adults and significantly increase the risk of falls, disability, and reduced quality of life. Early screening and health promotion efforts are essential in preventing these complications. This community service program aimed to introduce and implement the Fukuda Stepping Test as a simple, low-cost, and effective method for promotive and preventive assessment of balance impairment among elderly individuals in the community. The activity involved health education on balance maintenance, demonstration of the test procedure, and direct assessment of participants, followed by individualized feedback and recommendations for balance exercises. The results showed that the Fukuda Stepping Test was well-received, easy to perform, and successfully identified elderly individuals with potential vestibular asymmetry or dynamic balance deficits. Furthermore, the program increased participants’ awareness regarding fall prevention and encouraged adoption of regular balance training. This initiative highlights the importance of accessible physiotherapy-based screening tools in community settings and underscores the role of physiotherapists in promoting healthy aging and reducing fall risk among older adults.
