Abstract

The research was conducted in the greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from February to July 2016. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD), factorial and 3 replications. The first factor:soil water tension, consists of three levels (pF 1.00 to 1.97, pF 2.29 to 2.54 and pF 2.70 to 3.00) and the second factor: upland rice varieties which consists of three varieties (Situ Patenggang, Situ Bagendit, and Inpago 8). The data were statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan test continued level of 5%. Parameters measured were plant height, plant growth rate, the maximum number of tillers, the number of productive tillers, harvesting, root volume, the ratio of the canopy and roots, crop straw weight, weight of 100 grains, pithy grain percentage, and the weight of dry milled grain. The results showed the interaction soil water tension and varieties of upland rice significantly affected the rate of plant growth, the number of maximum tillering, the number of productive tillers, harvesting, root volume, heavy crop straw, weighting 100 grains, the percentage of pithy grain, and the weight of grind dry grain. The combination of soil water tension pF 1.00 to 1.97 and varieties Situ Bagendit is the best combination, because the weight of dry milled grain yield tends more.        Keywords:superior upland rice varieties, soil water tension, Ultisol.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the soybean varieties which provide the best response to the germination phase with Polyethylen Glycol. This research was conducted from February to May 2019 atPlant Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University. The study was conducted experimentally using factorial randomized complete design with two factors, where the first factor was soybean variety: V1 (Najsmoro variety), V2 (Dena 1 variety) and V3 (Argomulyo variety). The second factor was PEG concentration: D1 (0% PEG concentration), D2 (5% PEG concentration), D3 (10% PEG concentration), D4 (15% PEG concentration), D5 (20% PEG concentration). The parameters observed were germination, Indeks value test (IVT), length of roots and plomules. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with variance and continued with a DNMRT further test at the level of 5%. The results showed that the three varieties had germination> 90% after being treated with PEG concentration. Anjasmoro and Dena 1 varieties are varieties with good germination phase after giving of PEG concentration. Keywords: Germination, Soybean varieties, Polyethylen Glycol.

Abstract

This research aims to study the effect of conservation technique and fertilised which was done by the farmer to coffee production. This research was conducted at Silima Pungga-pungga, Dairi, North Sumatera. This research was done In February-March 2017. This research was conducted with Survey Method by taking some farmers as research sample. Sample was taken by used Purposive Sampling Method on level 5%. Sample criteration is the farmer in slope farmland (0-8)%, (9-16)% and (17-25)% with total sample 90. This research also used primary and secondary data which are taken by interview technique with the questionnaire and observation technique were direct field. Based on the result of the research was conducted at Silima Pungga-pungga, the researcher can conclude that the conservation technique and fertilised which were done by farmer show the significant effect to the coffee production itself on farmland slope (0-8)% and (9-16)% farmland slope while on farmland slope (17-25)% conservation technique and fertilised didn’t show the significant effect to the coffee production itself. Based on regression analysis can be gotten regression similarityfor the farmland slope (0-8)% is Y=0,286+0,097X1+0,578X2, (9-16)% is Y=1,961+0,177X1+0,439X2, (17-25)% is Y=1,403+0,020X1+0,213X2, it means that conservation technique and fertilised have positif value in every farmland slope.Keywords: Robusta Coffee, Conservation technique, Fertilised.

Abstract

Cow Urine Liquid Compost is a waste nitrogen-containing compounds, water, minerals, hormone auxin and other metabolic products that are useful for plant growth. Giving liquid compost into the soil of cow urine is beneficial to improve soil structure and add the availability of nutrients in the soil. This research aims to determine the interaction of liquid composting of cow urine and NPK fertilizer on peanut crop production as well as to get the best dosage. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from November 2016 until January 2017 using a randomized block design which consist of two factors and three replications, where: Factor I (dosing cow urine liquid compost) that is: without giving cow urine liquid compost, concentration of 20% with a dose of 1:38 l per plot, concentration of 30% with a dose of 1:38 l per plot and a concentration of 40% with a dose of 1:38 l per plot. Factor II (NPK), that is: without dosing NPK, 27 g per plot, 54 g per plot and 81 g per plot. Interaction of cow urine liquid compost and NPK showed a significant effect on number of primary branches and production per plot of peanut. The highest production of peanut crop obtained by giving cow urine liquid compost at concentration of 40% and NPK 81 and 54 g per plot with a yield that is 1291,8 - 1272.0 g per plot. Keywords: liquid compost, cow urine, NPK and peanuts

Abstract

This study aims to determine the interaction of dolomite and chicken manure to get the best dosage combination on the growth and yield of onion at peatlands. This research was conducted on peat land located in Pematang Reba, Rengat Barat, Indragiri Hulu Regency. This study used Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with two factors. The first factor was doses of dolomite fertilizer (D) (2, 4 and 6 tons.ha-1) and the second factor was the doses of chicken manure (K) (5, 10 and 15 kg.ha-1). The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, number of tubers, tuber bulbs, fresh weight tuber.plot-1, and reasonable save tuber weight.plot-1. Based on the result of the research, of dolomite and chicken manure give an effect on the parameters of plant height, fresh weight tuber.plot-1, and reasonable save tuber weight.plot-1. However, it was not give an effect on the number of leaf parameters, the number of tubers and the tubers. Based on the result of the research, the combination of dolomite treatment of 400 g.m-2 and chicken manure 1000 g.m-2 resulted in the fresh weight tuber.plot-1, and reasonable save tuber weight.plot-1 higher than other treatment.Keywords: onion, dolomite and chicken manure

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cacao rind compost and to obtain the best dose on the growth of seedlings of mini stum rubber plant clones PB 260. This study has been conducted in the experimental garden of Agriculture faculty, University of Riau from May 2016 until August 2016. The research has conducted experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design with single factor which is the giving of rind compost with the dose of A0: 0 g/polybag,      A1: 50 g/polybag, A2; 100 g/polybag, A3: 150 g/polybag, A4: 200 g/polybag. The observation parameters were; the increase of plant height, the increase of leaf number, the increase of stem diameter, the leaf wide. The obtained result were then analyzed using the variance and tested further by using Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5% level test. The results showed that the compost of cocoa peel on seeds of mini stum rubber plant clone PB 260 were effected to the increase of seedling height, the increase of leaf number, the increase of  stem diameter, and the wide leaf area. The results of this study showed that the composting of cocoa peel on the rubber seedlings stum mini clone PB 260 with dose 200  g/polybag  which gives the best result that can be seen from the increase of seedling height, the increase of leaf number, the stem diameter and the leaf wide.Keyword : cocoa rind compost, seedling  rubber.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the effects of herbicides types used in weed control against sweet corn growth and production on a triangular planting system. The experiment has been conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Soil Laboratory agricultural faculty, and Botani Laboratory FMIPA Riau University from December 2016 to March 2017. The experimental unit was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design, consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments consisted of the without herbicides, herbicides isopropil amina glifosat, paraquat diclorida and mesotrion + atrazine. The Observed parameter are planth height, girth diameter, chlorofil content, male and female flower appearance time, cob weight without cornhusk per plant, cob yield cornhusk per plot, number of seed rows, cob diameter, cob length, weed plant biomass and vegetation analysis before and after treatment. The data acquaired from analysis of variance were tested with Duncan’s multiple range test at 5% level. Research result shows that Mesotrion + Atrazine treatments is better in raising sweet corn yield component. Key words : Herbicide, triangular planting system, sweet corn

Abstract

This study aims to determine the composition of the best growing media  for the growth and yield of tomato plants withverticultural systems. This research was carried out in the greenhouse of the University of Riau Faculty of Agriculture Experiment station for 4 months starting from October 2017 to January 2018.This study was an experiment using a randomized block design (RBD)consisting of 5 treatments, namelyP1 = Soil  Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS (1 : 1 : 1), P2 = Soil Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS (1 : 1 : 2), P3 = Soil Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS(1 : 2 : 1), P4 = Soil Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS (2 : 1 : 1) and P5 = Soil Inceptisol + Sand + Compost TKKS (2 : 2 : 1).The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, age of first flowers appearance, age of first harvest, number of flowers, number of fruits and weight of fruit.                       The 2 : 1 : 1 Planting media composition cultivated with verticulture system produces fruit weight an average of 286,4 g in tomato plants which tend to be better. Keywords: Tomato plants, composition of planting media, cultivation of verticulture systems.

Abstract

The use of strawberry cultivation land is limited in the highlands, it is necessary to develop the adaptation of strawberry plants to lowland cultivation areas, especially in Riau. The research was purpose to study the effect of shade and liquid organic fertilizer concentration on growth and yield of strawberries in lowland. The research was conducted using a Split Plot Design, with the shading as main plots (shade 0%, 50% and 75%) and  giving liquid organic fertilizer concentration as  subplots (0 ml/l, 2,5 ml/l, 5 ml/l dan 7,5 ml/l).  Observed variable is the number of plant height and leaf, flowering age, number of flowers, number of fruits, total fruits weight. The data were analyzed by anova and descriptive analyse, than followed by Duncan’s multiple range test at 5% level. The result of this study represent that was significant different of shade on the number of plant heigh and leaf, but its no complete data on the flowering age, number of flowers, number of fruits, total fruits weight. The best treatment for growth of strawberries is shade as 50% and liquid organic fertilizer concentration as 7,5 ml/l of water.Keywords: strawberry, adaptation, shade, liquid organic fertilizer

Abstract

The research aims to determine the response of soybean crops to soil water level and dosing of compound fertilizer in peat media. Performed from January to April 2017. This study used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) which consists of 2 factors. The first factor is the groundwater level (T) 15 cm below the soil surface, 20 cm below the soil surface and 25 cm below the soil surface. The second factor is dosing of compound fertilizer (A) 200 kg/ha, 250 kg/ha and 300 kg/ha. The parameters observed were plant height, percentage of pods, root dry weight per plant, dry weight of crop per plant, plant age start flowering, number of primary branch, percentage of pods, dry seed weight per plant and 100 seed weight. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with vocabulary and continued with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. The results showed that the high water level of 25 cm and the dosage of 300kg/ha compound gave the best result on the parameters of plant height, the age of the flowering plants, the dry weight of the roots per plant, the dry weight of crop per plant and the weight of dry seed per plant. Keywords: Soybean, Water table height, Compound Fertilizer, Peatland
