Abstract

Semua tikus diinduksi deksametason 0,0029mg/20gBB/hari selama 28 hari, kemudian kelompok perlakuan diberi bubuk cangkang telur bebek selama 14 hari.. Kata Kunci: Bubuk Cangkang Telur Bebek, Osteoblas, Osteoporosis ABSTRACTGlucocorticoid induce-osteoporosis is osteoporosis due to long-term glucocorticoid therapy. Osteoporosis occurs due to inhibition of bone growth factors so that osteoblast differentiation decreases. The increase of extracellular calcium with calcium supplementation is able to promote cell proliferation and mineralization of mesenchymal cell matrix, which is the stem cell of osteoblasts. Calcium is high in duck egg shell powder. This study aimed to determine the effect of duck egg shell powder suplementation on the growth of male mice (Mus musculus) femoral bone osteoblasts with dexamethasone-induced osteoporosis model. The method used was true experimental with posttest-only control group design, 24 male mice were divided into 4 groups, there were positive control (K+), duck egg shell powder treatment group at a dose of 1.04 mg/day (P1), 2.08 mg/day (P2), and 3.12 mg/day (P3). All rats were induced with dexamethasone 0.0029mg/20gBW/day for 28 days, then the treatment group was given duck eggshell powder for 14 days. Data analysis used One-Way Anova, Post Hoc Bonferroni, and linear regression. In this study, the number of osteoblasts was significantly different (p0.05) between treatment groups compared to the positive control group. So it can be concluded that duck egg shell powder increased the growth of femoral bone osteoblasts of male mice (Mus musculus) osteoporosis model. Keywords: Duck Eggshell Powder, Osteoblast Cell, Osteoporosis

Abstract

The function of cognition in young adults (around the age of 20 years) mostly does not develop to its peak, even though at that age a person needs better cognitive abilities to deal with the lectures. Brain training game activities by playing games through the NeuronationTM application can improve cognitive function. To determine the effect of Brain training activities on improvement of cognitive function. Experimental study with two group pre and post design. 74 Sample were medical students of Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Malang class of 2017-2018, divided into control and treatment groups of 37 samples each. The treatment group was given by game brain game training 30 minutes a day, 20 times in 4 weeks.. Cognitive function was measured by the MoCA-Ina test in the control group and pre and post test. The hypothesis test used the pairet samples test. Cognitive function of pre and post test of the control group good cognitive function increased 2.69% and cognitive function of pre and post test of treatment group increased 58.8% with the result of pairet sample analysis of significant p = 0,000 which means that in the control group there was a tendency for increased function cognition after treatment (post test) but the improvement was not significant. In the treatment group with brain training activities cognitive function increased sharply and statistically significant, Brain training activities affect the improvement of cognitive function.

Abstract

Background: COVID-19 has significantly increased morbidity and mortality in Indonesia, particularly at Gambiran General Hospital in Kediri, East Java, following the WHO's pandemic declaration. The global incidence of acute stroke with COVID-19 is 1.4%, presenting varying clinical features from mild to severe outcomes, and even death. The identification of specific biomarkers, such as elevated D-dimer serum levels, is crucial for predicting severe complications in acute stroke patients with COVID-19. Objective: This study aimed to explore the correlation between elevated levels of mild, moderate, and severe D-dimer serum and mortality in acute stroke patients with COVID-19. Methods: Conducted as an observational analytical study using a cross-sectional approach, this research utilized secondary data from medical records at Kediri Gambiran General Hospital (March 2020 to June 2023). Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to hospitalized patients, categorized based on D-dimer levels: normal, mild, moderate, and severe. Statistical analyses, including the Spearman correlation test and Chi-square correlation test, were employed to assess the relationship between D-dimer levels and total mortality. Results: Among the 101 enrolled patients, 53 were male (52.48%), with 90 exhibiting elevated D-dimer levels. Out of these, 44 patients died. The Spearman correlation test showed a non-significant value of 0.069 (p>0.005). The Chi-square correlation test for mild, moderate, and severe D-dimer levels on total mortality also yielded a non-significant value of 0.878. Conclusion: This study found no significant relationship between elevated levels of mild, moderate, and severe D-dimer serum and mortality in acute stroke patients with COVID-19 at Gambiran General Hospital.

Abstract

Introduction: Atherosclerosis (AS) is a process of narrowing of the lumen of arteries due to progressive plaque buildup. Foam Cell and plaque appear as a result of lipoprotein metabolism disorders which result in inflammatory reactions. The incidence of AS in the world is increasing, resulting in various complications that can lead to death. Lycopene is contained in the red flesh of watermelon, which is an antioxidant that can control free radicals and can reduce the risk of AS. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of watermelon (Cittrulus lanatus) red flesh extract on reducing coronary artery foam cells and thinning of the aortic intima in Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar) atherosclerosis model. Method: This research was an experimental study (true experimental) using the Post Test Only Control Group Design method, which measures the number of coronary artery foam cells and the thickness of the aortic intima in Wistar rats (five groups) after administration of a hypercholesterolemic diet and watermelon red flesh extract at a dose of 250,500,750 mg /kgBW. Data analysis was carried out using One-Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Bonferroni tests. Results: The One-Way ANOVA statistical test showed results of 0.020 for foam cells and 0.008 for thickness of the intimal tunica, which means that there was a real influence of watermelon red flesh extract on decreasing foam cells and significant thinning of the intimal tunica in the treatment group. Furthermore, the Post Hoc Bonferroni test showed that the dose of 750 mg/kgBW had the most effect on reducing foam cells (p=0.046) and thinning the intima (p=0.015). Conclusion: Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) red flesh extract at a dose of 750 mg/kgBW has a significant effect on reducing the number of foam cells and thinning of the aorta of the Wistar rat model of atherosclerosis.
