Abstract

The purpose of the research for analyzing determination factors that affect household economic of farmers against the production, allocation of work time, incomes, and expenses of field paddy household in the subdistrict of Kuok, district of Kampar. The analysis model used is the simultaneous equivalent model with Two-Stage Least Square (2SLS) method. The result of research concludes that: firstly, determination factors which affect production are harvest area and a total of allocation of working time in farming but there is no responsive variable. Secondly, the determining factors that affect the allocation of working time are the income in farming, allocation of out working in farming, labor force, income non-paddy farming, allocation of working time in farming, however only production variable which is responsive. Thirdly, determination factors that affect income non-paddy farming are allocation of non-working time, labor force, farmer’s age, and the experiences of farmer however, there is no responsive variable. Fourthly, determination factors that affect consumption are total of farmer’s income and the number of a household member, investment of education and savings, but only income total of the farmer is responsive can affect consumption.

Abstract

Riau is one of the provinces that is highly dependent on the supplier area, not the producer area, but the rice consumer net. This causes the price of rice to fluctuate, so the observation of rice price development is very important for the Government of Riau Province. Price fluctuations with large variations are a problem whereas price fluctuations with low variations are relatively controllable, so research on the analysis of price variations, important to do. The results show that overall rice price variation in Riau Province and supplier areas in 2006 - 2015 were is relatively stable with an increasing trend but there was a rice price jump in 2008 as a result of the global economic crisis, where food prices are rising while revenues decrease.

Abstract

Indragiri Hilir District has 515,200 hectares of local coconut land with production of 418,200 tons (Statistic Board, 2015), but the area of land and its production is always decreasing. The decline of the area is caused by land damage, land conversion, the number of coconut plants that are old and dead and so affect to the need of raw materials for the development of the coconut industry in generating the number and type of product diversification. This research is conducted to analyze the internal and external factors that were influences to the development of local coconut industry which aims to know the internal and external factors in the development of coconut industry in Indragiri Hilir district. The result of the analysis showed that the internal factors that become the strength and impact on the development of the coconut industry are the large area of coconut plant that is large enough, the availability of a large workforce and already has a large scale coconut processing industry; while the weakness factor is the age of coconut plants is quite old, coconut farmersgenerally use local seeds, decreased coconut productivity and the limited number and type of diversification of coconut derived products. External factors that become opportunities for the development of the coconut industry is the high demand for coconut products and derivatives in the export market, coconut derivative products can still be developed and supported by local government and related agencies while external factors are a threat to the coconut industry development of coconut plantation damage due to sea water intrusion and high investment concerns in competing countries against the coconut industry.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the dominant factors that respect to household economics of paddy farmers that included production, allocation of work time, income, and expenditure in Sungai Mandau Sub-district, Siak Municipality. The econometric approach using a model of simultaneous equations with Two-Stage Least Square method (2SLS) was used to answer the research goals. The main finding of this research showed that the dominant factors that respect to production are harvest area of paddy and costs of production facilities. Allocation of work time consists of: First, allocation of work time on farming respects the allocation of work time of off-farm and labor force. Second, the hired labor respects to farming income. Third, allocation of work time of off-farm respects to off-farm income, allocation of work time on farming, farmer's work experiences and age of farmers. Income respects to the allocation of work time of off-farm. Expenditure consists of: First, food consumption respects to total income, the number of families, and health spending. Second, non-food consumption respects to total income. Third, education investment respects to total income and the number of school children. Fourth, paddy farming investment respects to total income, harvest area of paddy, and food consumption. Fifth, saving respects to total income, total consumption, education investment, and health spending.
