Abstract

The Program Integrasi Prodi dan Nagari (PIPN) implemented in Kampung Adat Balai Kaliki, Payakumbuh City, aims to enhance the application of science and technology as well as improve community skills particularly among PKK women and young women in stage makeup, mahendi art, digital marketing, and video content creation. This initiative was motivated by the village’s potential as a cultural tourism destination that regularly hosts artistic and traditional events, yet faces limitations in local human resource skills. The program employed lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and mentoring methods to deliver its training activities. Results indicate significant improvement in participants’ technical competencies in stage makeup and Minangkabau-inspired mahendi, as well as in digital marketing and creative video production. Beyond individual capacity building, the program fostered women’s empowerment, increased family income, and promoted local cultural tourism. Overall, this PIPN initiative exemplifies an effective collaboration between higher education institutions and local communities to strengthen culture-based creative economies.

Abstract

Xerosis, or dry skin, is a dermatological disorder characterized by a hydration deficit in the stratum corneum, resulting in a rough skin texture, a dull appearance, and reduced skin comfort. This condition is influenced by environmental exposure, high levels of daily activity, and suboptimal skin care practices. In the context of utilizing natural ingredients as safer and more accessible cosmetic alternatives, lime peel and moringa leaves are known to contain bioactive compounds, such as vitamin C, flavonoids, and antioxidants, which may help maintain skin hydration. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a body scrub made from lime peel and moringa leaves in improving the moisture of dry body skin. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group design. Six participants with dry skin characteristics were divided into a control group and a treatment group. The treatment group received an intervention in the form of body scrub application once a week for eight consecutive sessions, whereas the control group did not receive a similar intervention. Skin moisture was measured at the pre-intervention and post-intervention stages using a skin moisture measuring device, and the data were analyzed descriptively and statistically. The results showed that the treatment group experienced a significant increase in skin moisture, with the mean value rising from 13% at the initial measurement to 57% after the eighth session, while the control group did not show a significant change. These findings indicate that a body scrub made from lime peel and moringa leaves contributed positively to improving the hydration of dry body skin. Thus, this study confirms that natural ingredients have the potential to serve as an effective alternative for dry skin care.

Abstract

Although studies on consumer behavior in the beauty service industry have been widely conducted, research that specifically discusses the influence of consumer behavior on the decision to choose reflexology services at beauty salons in Padang City remains limited. This study aims to describe consumer behavior, describe consumers’ decisions in choosing reflexology services, and analyze the influence of consumer behavior on consumers’ decisions to choose reflexology services at Puan Beauty Salon & SPA in Padang City. This study employed an associative quantitative approach. The study population consisted of all women who used reflexology services at Puan Beauty Salon & SPA in Padang City, with a sample of 73 respondents selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, and were then analyzed using descriptive analysis and simple linear regression with the aid of SPSS. The results showed that consumer behavior was in the moderate category at 80.8%, while consumer decision-making was also in the moderate category at 78.1%. The hypothesis test showed a positive and significant influence of consumer behavior on the decision to choose reflexology services, with a calculated t-value of 3.857 greater than the t-table value of 1.994 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.162 indicates that consumer behavior contributed 16.2% to consumer decisions, while the remaining 83.8% was influenced by other factors outside this study. These findings confirm that consumer behavior plays a role in the decision to choose reflexology services and provides practical contributions for salon managers in strengthening marketing strategies and improving service quality.
