Abstract

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel produced from vegetable oils such as soybean oil by the method of transesterification with the help of catalysts. This research uses a heterogeneous catalyst, CaO which is derived from an eggshell through a calcination process is impregnated with NaOH so that the CaO cavity can be filled by Na ions in order to increase the alkaline nature of the catalyst. The increase in biodiesel yield can be done by varying the catalyst concentration of CaO/NaOH and mole ratio of soybean oil / methanol. CaO catalyst obtained from calcination of chicken eggshell was impregnated with 5% NaOH (w/v) as much as 50 ml into 50 g of CaO gradually, stirred while accompanied by heating, and continued calcination at 300 ℃ for 3 hours. Biodiesel synthesis was carried out by esterification and transesterification using methanol, biodiesel synthesis was done by varying the mole ratio of soybean oil with methanol 1: 6; 1: 9; 1:12 and catalyst concentration 0.5; 1 and 1.5% at 60-65°C for 3 hours. The best result was obtained with a yield of 86.7860% in the mole ratio of oil with methanol 1:12 with a catalyst concentration of 1% based on oil weight, density of 0.8899 gram / ml, viscosity of 3.5208 Cst, acid number of 0.33 mg KOH/g max and water content of 0.0095% and this is in accordance with SNI 7182: 2015 standards.

Abstract

Chicken eggshells can be used as raw material in the manufacture of CaO catalysts. Increased CaO catalyst activity can be done by the impregnation method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of %K on the wet impregnation of CaO catalyst using KOH and to find out the impregnation catalyst (CaO / K2O) on the biodiesel yield. Prepared chicken egg shells were calcined at 900oC for 3 hours. Then the CaO obtained was impregnated using KOH with a variation of % K (5%, 7%, 9% and 12% (w / w)) while heated at 85oC. The impregnation product was calcined at 600oC for 5 hours. The impregnation catalyst (CaO K2O) was applied to the biodiesel synthesis through a transesterification reaction with a mole ratio of 1:12 waste cooking oil: methanol, the amount of catalyst was 1.5% at a reaction temperature of 70°C for 2.5 hours. Based on the results of SEM-EDS analysis, the highest K2O at 7% K was 21.99%), while the highest CaO content was at 9% K by 81.53%. For the highest surface area analysis at 7% K with a surface area of 71.22 m2 / g, alkalinity was 2.59 mmol / g. The best biodiesel was obtained with a yield of 87.17%, kinematic viscosity of 2.89 cSt, water content of 0.032%, density of 0.819 g/ml, methyl ester level of 99.39%.

Abstract

Abstract

Biobriquettes are one of the alternative energy solid fuels that are the basic materials of a biomass mixture. The addition of the word bio to briquettes is due to the addition of biomass as a raw material. Peanut skin and hazelnut shell that is only wasted resulted in the accumulation of agricultural waste in the form of peanut skin and hazelnut shell. To overcome this, further research is needed to have added value. In this study, it aims to influence the effect of the comparison of the composition of raw materials of peanut skin charcoal and hazelnut shells against proximate values and heat values. This study used carbonization methods. From the results of the analysis obtained the highest heat value in the treatment E was 6006 Cal/gr. Briquette water content ranges from 4 - 5% and the lowest water content was obtained in treatment B which was 4.08%. The results of the analysis of ash levels ranged from 11 - 17% and obtained the lowest ash levels in treatment B, which was 11.92%.  Volatile matter results ranged from 26 - 28% and the lowest Volatile Matter level at D treatment was 26.57% and fixed carbon results ranged from 50 - 55% and the highest fixed carbon result was at 55.96%.Keywords: bean skin, hazelnut shell, biobriquette, proximate

Abstract

Reading is a basic skill that students must master and enjoy. Through reading, students can increase and improve their knowledge. However, reading is a challenging activity.  Based on the observation, the author found that Elementary students in SDN 012 had low abilities in reading activities. This low reading ability has an impact on limited student participation in reading activities.  Therefore, the author creates a story telling frame and stages of reading activities that can increase student participation in reading activities and improve students' reading skills. There were some stages done by the author. The first was designing a story telling frame, implementing reading activities with students, the second was using a story telling frame with students and teachers and the last was evaluating the story telling frame. The design of storytelling frame used square and round shape stainless in gold color. They were decorated with artificial flowers, dolls and cloth.  The story telling frame was designed based on the theme of the story, which is “where is bear?”. There were 20 students who joined the story telling activity using the story telling frame. The pre-test and post-test on students’ reading comprehension revealed that students have better understanding on reading the text by using story telling frame.

Abstract

Understanding and interpreting text is a crucial component of reading comprehension. This process might be hampered by several problems, which affect students' capacity to understand meaning. However, there are several strategies that can be applied regarding this issue. The first is using appropriate reading techniques, especially computational thinking. And the second is using visual aid. Students' understanding can be improved by using visual aids like graphic organizers or pictures to help them visualize ideas and relationships in the text. The purpose of this study was to produce a story mapping card as a visual aid that can help students understand English texts better. The development was carried out through the method of formulating problems, collecting data, designing products, validating designs, revising designs, conducting trials, drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the story mapping card was valid and ready to use. The results of the assessment of the story mapping card were an average of 4.5 with a very good category, the indicator of the benefits of the story mapping card for students got a total average value of 4.5 with a very good category and the indicator of ease of use of the story mapping card in the reading stage for teachers with a total average value of 4.4 with a very good category.
