Abstract

H5P adalah kerangka kerja kolaborasi konten bebas dan sumber terbuka berbasis JavaScript. H5P memberi kemudahan pada guru/dosen dalam membuat, berbagi, dan menggunakan kembali konten HTML5 interaktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran Bahasa dengan menggunakan H5P yang diterapkan melalui Learning Management System (LMS) di Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya (PPNS). Pengembangan yang dilakukan adalah denganmendesain pembelajaran yang interaktif menggunakan materi, kuis, game melalui H5P. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Research and Development (R and D) untuk menghasilkan produk berupa media pembelajaran Bahasa berbasis H5P. Materi pembelajaran yang dibuat menggunakan H5P kemudian diaplikasikan pada Mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris I, II, dan III. Berdasarkan penilaian dan respon dari mahasiswa, didapatkan hasil bahwa media pembelajaran menggunakan H5P dianggap interaktif (82%), evaluatif (90%) dan mudah untuk diakses (95%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis H5P ini efektif dan juga efisien untuk diterapkan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya.

Abstract

E-brochure as one kind of promotion media reaches vast audience in short time to promote Malaysian tourism spots. Analyzing the occurrence of theme on e-brochure is expected to help Malaysian tourism providers create interesting and efficient promotion media. Theme works as the glue that structures meanings in a clause. This research aims to analyze themes on Malaysia tourism e-brochure in forms of topical, textual, and interpersonal themes. The analysis is done using thematic development proposed by Gerot and Wignell (1994). This research is descriptive qualitative research. The objects are e-brochures of seven tourism spots in Malaysia. They are Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, Port Dickson, Islands of Johor, Tioman, and Malaysia in general. They are chosen randomly to make the analysis objective. There are 183 clauses that work as the data. The analysis shows that most of the themes on Malaysia e-brochure are in forms of topical theme. The emergence of topical theme in the analysis are mostly in forms of noun and noun phrase. Analyzing types of themes is helpful to make the focus of the meaning on Malaysia e-brochure delivered well as it plays a crucial role in contributing the coherence on it.

Abstract

The ability to communicate globally, both in Indonesian and English, is extremely important in the this digital technology era. Everybody who wants to succeed in the global economy must speak English to communicate globally. In order to increase the quality of human resources, the education institutions must prepare education system or curriculum that are able to produce ready-to-use human resources. This study is aimed to analyse the need of English Competence in Professional Business Communication Industries. The data were obtained from Questionnaire and Interview with PPNS users’ companies. The result showed that the ability of using English for Professional Business Communication is one of requirements to be accomplished in order to establish modern companies that are ready to compete in the worldwide scale. It was recommended that the English for Professional Business Communication could be developed in form of study program that are prepared to accommodate the international business communication.

Abstract

This research aims to distinguish students' perceptions of the TOEIC training given by lecturers for final semester students to help them to achieve the passing grade determined by the campus as a graduation requirement. This research is a qualitative descriptive that revealed the reality of TOEIC training by analyzing relevant data. The selection of research subjects was carried out using a purposive sampling technique on students who had received TOEIC training. Data collection uses a closed questionnaire method which is applied to 186 students from 11 study programs who join TOEIC training. In depth interview was also conducted toward 30 students. The research questionnaire consists of 2 parts, namely: Perception of Learning Quality and Perception of benefits to TOEIC training. The result of this research shows that students have positive perception toward TOEIC training and they agree TOEIC training can improve their listening and reading score. Meanwhile, the interview reveals that students get benefit more from integrated skills approach using authentic material than just simulation and structured practices of TOEIC. This results give insights on future TOEIC Training about its effectiveness to improve students’ English proficiency as well as proposing the best method used in the future training of TOEIC.
