Abstract

Introduction: Patients undergoing hemodialysis experience an influence in terms of the biological, psychological, social and spiritual problems that they encounter. In particular, there are biological aspects that affect weight gain between dialysis sessions. In terms of the psychological aspect, there is an influence on emotional vulnerability, such as anxiety, fear and despair. They need family support, especially as part of a couple. This study aimed to determine the relationship between partner support and IDWG in hemodialysis patients. Methods: This study used a descriptive cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 60 hemodialyzed people. The sample was recruited using purposive sampling, resulting in 42 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The study was conducted in a Private Hospital in Surabaya. The independent variable was partner support and the dependent variable was the IDWG in the hemodialysis patient. The data was collected through a questionnaire and it was analyzed using the Spearman test. Results: The results show that there was a relationship between partner support and IDWG hemodialysis patients with p = 0.025 (α ≤0.05).Conclusion: Good partner support reduces the low IDWG in hemodialysis patients. Therefore, determining the level of family support especially that given by a partner of a IDWG hemodialysis patients will positively support better IDWG hemodialysis patients, thus preventing them from the potential side effects of IDWG such as hypotension, muscle cramps, shortness of breath and cardiovascular problems.

Abstract

Aims: The diets of foster children in orphanages in groups tend to differ from those of children cared for by their parents. Indeed, applying Self Care Theory to children will help train them in independence in meeting their needs. However, there is a lack of studies to explore the factors affecting children's diets utilizing Dorothea Orem's theory approach. Objective: Analyzing the dominant factors affecting school-age children's eating patterns utilizing Dorothea Orem's theory approach at the Muhammadiyah Orphanage in Surabaya. Methods: A cross sectional design included 43 children with orphanages in Surabaya with Cluster Random Sampling technique. The dependent variable is dietary habits. At the same time, the independent variables in this research include nutritional knowledge, body image, the role of caregivers, and food availability. The Spearman-Rho with a significant value <0.05 was performed. Results: Results of the study revealed that age (p = 0.007), caregiver role (p = 0.012) and food availability (p = 0.000) was significantly correlated with dietary habits. However, gender (p = 0.930), nutritional knowledge (p = 0.667), body image (p = 0.975) no significantly correlated with dietary habits. Conclusion: Food availability is the most vital factor and directly influences the diet of school-age children. Moreover, in this case, the foster mother and adequate food availability support the child’s independence process in fulfilling the appropriate self-care process.

Abstract

Sleep is one of the basic human needs. The need for sleep for all ages differs. Sleep disorders can occur in children with manifestations of difficulty in starting to sleep and maintaining sleep. One way to overcome baby sleep disorders is with Massage (touch). Touching the baby's skin will stimulate blood circulation and add more oxygen wave energy to the brain, improving the circulation and respiration systems. The feeling of comfort and relaxation from massage will enhance sleep quality in infants aged 0-6 months. This baby massage stimulates the nervous and respiratory systems and smooths blood circulation. Massage can stimulate hormones, affecting the body's work systems, such as sleep patterns, and can help babies with difficulty sleeping soundly. This Community Service aims to show that baby massage can improve sleep quality in infants aged 0-6 months. The method used in community service was to massage babies aged 0-6 months for two weeks. The massage was carried out continuously and continued independently by mothers at home to improve sleep quality in infants aged 0-6 months. Results obtained after massage on babies aged 0-3 months for two weeks showed that the average sleep time of babies increased by 96 minutes, while the average sleep time of babies aged 4-6 months was 115 minutes. It shows that baby massage dramatically influences the quality of baby sleep. Conclusion: This baby massage is an effort made to improve the quality of baby sleep because it is essential for their growth and development.
