Abstract

Introduction: Haemodialysis is one of the kidney replacements therapies, but, as it cannot wholly replace kidney function, it still causes complications such as increased blood pressure and pulse which can lead to anxiety for the patient. The purpose of this study was to explain the effect of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) on anxiety, blood pressure and pulse in haemodialysis patients. Methods: The study design was a true pre-post-test control group design experiment. The total sample was 105 haemodialysis patients taken by purposive sampling technique and divided into two intervention groups and one control group. The independent variable was PMR, and the dependent variables were anxiety, blood pressure and pulse. Data were obtained using a questionnaire and analysed using the Kruskal Wallis Test and Mann-Whitney U test with a significance level <0.05.Results: The results of the PMR two times per week group analysis for one month showed a significant influence on anxiety (p=0.000), blood pressure (p=0.000), and pulse rate (p=0.000). Mann-Whitney U Test Results showed a significant effect on anxiety (p=0.004), blood pressure (p=0.000), and pulse (p=0.000).Conclusion: Haemodialysis patients who performed PMR interventions showed a promising outcome on a decrease in anxiety, blood pressure and pulse. The regular application of PMR interventions can control vital signs in patients undergoing haemodialysis

Abstract

Anxiety among hemodialysis patients is often overlooked, although the psychological burden experienced can affect health and care. Progressive muscle relaxation is an effective intervention to reduce the anxiety level. This study aimed to examine the effect of continuous muscle relaxation intervention on decreasing anxiety among hemodialysis patients. A quasi-experimental, pre-test, and post-test with a non-equivalent control group was applied in this study. Seventy samples were recruited using Purposive Sampling and divided into two intervention groups and control groups. Data analysis was performed and presented in descriptive statistics, and significant findings were calculated using the paired t-test. The results of the study showed that the intervention group's anxiety level decreased from 28.76 + 4.603 to 16.61 + 2.487 after the intervention. Meanwhile, in the control group, the average anxiety level decreased slightly from 28.18 + 4.066 to 23.82 + 4.362. The paired t-test obtained a p-value of 0,000, indicating that there was a significant difference in the decrease in anxiety levels between the intervention and the control group. An intervention in progressive muscle relaxation can reduce anxiety levels in hemodialysis patients. The nurse need to consider this intervention as an alternative to reduce problem related psychological problems. Keywords: Hemodialysis, anxiety, progressive muscle relaxation

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) has been around for thousands of years and remains a major global health problem. One of the factors that influence non-compliance in TB treatment is a lack of knowledge about TB and treatment. The study aimed at examining the effect of audiovisual health education on the compliance behavior of tuberculosis patients in taking medication. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental, pre and post with a control group that was applied in this study. Seventy samples were recruited using nonprobability sampling by means of purposive sampling and divided into two groups (interventions and control groups). Data analysis was performed and presented in descriptive statistics, and significant findings were computed using the paired t-test. Results: The results showed that the mean increase in the medication compliance intervention group from 6,89+ 1,105 to 7,46+0,701 after the intervention. Meanwhile, in the control group, the mean medication compliance level slightly downhill from 6,89+ 1,105 to 7,23+1,060. The paired t-test obtained a p-value of 0.000, indicating that there were significant differences in the enhancement in medication compliance between the intervention and the control group. Conclusion: based audiovisual health education interventions based on the Health Belief Model can improve the compliance behavior of TB patients in taking medication. The nurse profession is expected to be able to use preoperative based audiovisual health education interventions based on the Health Belief Model to become one of the independent nursing interventions.

Abstract

Flexing behaviour can occur for a variety of reasons, one of which is to visualize self image because one needs a recognition, self-esteem and a need for social life. The study aims to identify the relationship between self image and flexing behaviour among Gen Z Instagram users at the ITSK RS dr. Soepraoen. This research uses a quantitative research design with a cross sectional approach. The population was 177 college students with a sample of 135 college students. The technique used is accidental sampling. The research was conducted from 14 to 28 February 2024. The research instrument uses a questionnaire in the form of a google form. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis. The results were tested using spearman rho. Obtained sig (2-tailed) p value = 0,000 < 0.05 indicates that H₁ received which means there is a relationship between self image with flexing behaviour among Gen Z Instagram users at ITSK RS dr. Soepraoen. The results of the study had a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.300 included in the study with a moderate strength of the relationship and with a positive direction which means the higher self image make it the lower flexing behaviour. The results of this research expect the participation of institutions to be able to provide education related to the need of students to improve their self image by attending academic and non-academic activities on campus.
