Abstract

Plutella xylostella is a major pest on cabbage plants. At times of hight population numbers, the larvae will eat all the leaves and leave only the bones of the leaves, this will cause severe damage, thereby reducing production yields. The result are quickly seen despite the negative impact, as a result the crops that should be of hight quality and nutrition become contaminated with chemical pesticide residues and are dangerous if consumed. The results showed that the highest mortality was in the single test of neem leaf extract, which was 57% and the highest mortality was in the mindi leaf extract which was 33%. Abstract

Merauke is one of the centers of rice cultivation in Papua, which has several tidal swamp areas that contain salt in the soil or saline, but their utilization could be better. From this, it is necessary to test the adaptation of new rice lines on saline soils so that they can provide information about their adaptability from the plant growth process to the level of production. This study found that the new rice lines adapted quite well physiologically and morphologically to the salinity stress area where they were tested. Keywords : Adaptation test, rice lines, saline.

Abstract

Tomatoes are a horticultural commodity that is widely consumed by the public, so they need to be increased using organic fertilizer plus Trichoderma. This research aims to determine the effect of organic fertilizer plus on increasing the growth and production of tomato plants. This study used a randomized block design with treatments namely no organic fertilizer plus (A0), organic fertilizer plus 3 t.ha-1 (A1), 6 t.ha-1 (A2), 9 t.ha-1 (A3), 12 t.ha-1 (A4), and 15 t.ha-1 (A5). The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, number of flowers forming fruit, number of flowers, number of fruit, fruit weight, fruit diameter and productivity. The observational data is analyzed for variance and data that shows a real effect will be further tested using Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results of the study showed that organic fertilizer plus treatment had an effect on the growth of tomato plants. The highest variables of plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter and number of branches were obtained in the organic fertilizer plus 15 t.ha-1 (P5) treatment which was not significantly different from the 12 t.ha-1 (P4), 9 t.ha-1 (P3), 6 t.ha-1 (P2), 3 t.ha-1 (P1), but significantly different from the treatment without organic fertilizer plus (P0).

Abstract

The rice stem borer (Scirpophaga sp.) is a significant pest of rice plants, causing substantial yield losses. This study aimed to assess the growth response of seven rice varieties to stem borer (Scirpophaga sp.) infestation. The research was conducted in Kampung Telaga Sari, Kurik District, Merauke Regency, from October 2022 to January 2023. The experiment followed a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with seven varieties and three replications per trial. The varieties tested were Inpari 32, Inpari 42, Cakrabuana, Siam-siam, CL 220, Sertani, and Mekongga. Each treatment was replicated three times, resulting in 21 experimental plots, each measuring 3 x 3 m² with a planting distance of 20 x 20 cm, comprising 50 plants per plot. The research findings indicated significant differences in stem borer damage intensity at the 0.01 level of significance. The highest average attack intensity was observed in the Inpari 32 variety (5.44%), while the lowest average attack intensity was found in the Cakrabuana variety (2%).
