Abstract

Background: The complexity of services that nurses must provide nowadays encourages nurses to develop their moral courage. A review of the literature reveals that no studies have been conducted to evaluate the association between clinical nurse tenure and their level of moral courage. Objectives: this study is to assess correlation between the tenure of nurses and the level of moral courage. Methods: analytic survey research at 5 hospitals in Makassar, including private and government hospitals with a total sample of 405 nurses. The sampling technique used multistage random sampling. The variables measured were tenure of nurses and the level of moral courage of nurses. The Professional Moral Courage Questionnaire is used for the variable moral courage (Cronbach 'alpha: 0.756). Data analysis using Mann Whitney test. Results: The majority of nurses with long and new tenure had moderate moral courage (new tenure 79 nurses; length tenure 238 nurses), and there was no significant difference in the moral courage level of nurses with long and new tenure (p=0.294). Conclusion: Considering the findings that nurse tenure has no effect on moral courage, nursing managers can consistently boost nurses' moral courage through external stimuli. A nurse who cannot face various ethical dilemmas in providing daily nursing care can result in moral distress.

Abstract

Introduction: Physical activity interventions play a crucial role in managing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) in Indigenous populations. However, there are significant challenges in implementing these interventions in Indigenous areas, including limited access to facilities, cultural barriers, and environmental factors. Objective: This scoping review aimed to identify and summarize the challenges and opportunities for physical activity interventions in Indigenous areas for individuals with T2DM. Method: This scoping review utilized a comprehensive search strategy to identify relevant literature from various electronic databases. The literature search was focused on studies that explored physical activity interventions in Indigenous populations with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Result: The search strategy resulted in the identification of several studies that highlighted the challenges and opportunities for physical activity interventions in Indigenous areas for individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Numerous challenges were identified, including limited access to recreational facilities, cultural barriers, and environmental factors. Limited access to recreational facilities was one of the key challenges identified in the literature. Conclusion: The challenges faced in implementing physical activity interventions in Indigenous areas for individuals with T2DM are significant, particularly limited access to recreational facilities, cultural barriers, and environmental factors. However, there are also opportunities for addressing these challenges and improving physical activity interventions in Indigenous areas for individuals with T2DM. One opportunity is the incorporation of cultural aspects into physical activity interventions, such as traditional Indigenous physical activities. Abstract

Background: Physiologically, DM patients' blood sugar control is affected by stress, but it can also interfere with their ability to regulate themselves in carrying out daily care. Objective: This study aims to identify and analyze available scientific evidence about the effect of Health Coaching (HC) in controlling blood sugar in type 2 DM patients. Method: This systematic review is based on the PRISMA checklist. Literature search via PuBMED, Science direct, google scholar, cochrane, and wiley. Structured research questions used the PICO electronic method (patient, intervention, comparison and outcome). Results: The number of respondents who suffered from type 2 DM was 6,169 with the longest treatment time of 3 years. There are 4 interventions found in controlling blood sugar in type 2 DM patients, namely HC using web-based coaching techniques, HC using a telephone, face-to-face HC using a smartphone, and HC using an application. cell phone called MDMA (diabetes management mobile app). Conclusion: Interventions that were found as HC techniques to control blood sugar in type 2 DM patients were Health coaching with web-based coaching techniques, HC conducted using the telephone, HC conducted face to face using a smartphone, and HC using a cellular mobile application called MDMA (application cellular diabetes management). However, several things that became the main limitations of this review of this study were the absence of a standard in determining the duration of HC interventions, so the duration of HC in each study varied and the longest duration was up to 3 years. Recommendation: Therefore, further research is needed regarding the standard of HC intervention in controlling blood sugar in diabetes mellitus patients.

Abstract

Background: Perineal rupture is a tear in the perineum or injury to the birth canal that occurs during the birth of a baby, whether using tools or not. Perineal rupture occurs in almost all first deliveries and is not uncommon in subsequent deliveries. Factors causing perineal rupture consist of maternal factors such as: parity, partus precipitatus, prolonged labor and maternal age. Fetal factors include: large baby, abnormal head position, breech birth and shoulder dystocia. Objective: The aim of this research was to determine what factors influence the occurrence of perineal rupture in the Makassar City Regional Hospital. Research Method: The type of research carried out is quantitative descriptive research with a retrospective approach. The sampling technique in this research is Non Probability Sampling using the Purposive Sampling method. Results: After carrying out the Chi-square statistical test, each significance value was obtained for maternal parity ρ = 0.000 < α 0.05, significance value for maternal age ρ = 0.002 < α 0.05, and significance value for birth weight ρ = 0.000 < α 0.05 So Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected, which means there is an influence between parity, maternal age and birth weight on the incidence of perineal rupture at Makassar City Regional Hospital. Suggestion: It is hoped that future researchers will be able to conduct more in-depth research on childbirth.

Background: Prolonged labor is a latent phase lasting more than 8 hours. Labor has been ongoing for 12 hours or more but the baby has not been born. Neonatal asphyxia is the failure to breathe spontaneously and regularly at birth or shortly after birth, characterized by hypoxemia, hypercarbia, and acidosis. Asphyxia during delivery can be caused by oxygen deficiency which can result in Prolonged Labor. Objective: to determine the Relationship of Prolonged Labor in Delivering Mothers with the Incidence of Neonatal Asphyxia at RSKDIA Pertiwi Hospital, Makassar City. Methods: The type of research used in this study is quantitative research with a descriptive research method using a cross-sectional study. Sampling was done using accidental sampling technique. The sample in this study were mothers who gave birth at RSKDIA Pertiwi Hospital, Makassar City. The sample in this study were 32 samples. Data processing was carried out using SPSS chi-square. Data collection used observation sheets with research results statistically tested using descriptive statistics frequency and Chi Square Test. Results: Based on statistical tests, it was found that out of 32 samples (100%) mothers who experienced Prolonged Labor were 21 people (65.6%), while mothers who did not experience Prolonged Labor were 11 people (34.4%). The number of babies born with neonatal asphyxia was 25 babies (78.1%), while babies born without Neonatal Asphyxia were 7 babies (21.9%). Based on the Chi-square test, the significance value obtained was ρ = 0.020 < ɑ 0.05 then Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected, meaning there was a Relationship between Prolonged Labor in delivering mothers with the Incidence of Neonatal Asphyxia at RSKDIA Pertiwi Hospital, Makassar City.
