Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic was still a major concern of the world, because there has not been a cure for this disease, but there was already given a vaccine to the community. Vaccines provided in Indonesia are still not enough to create immunity or herd immunity, so the community was supposed to maintain immune system by consuming nutritious food and consuming bioactive compounds that have antiviral and immunomodulatory/immune booster activities. Bioactive compounds such as gingerol, zingeron, shogaol, and gingerin found in red ginger (Zingiber officinale var rubrum) have great properties to increase immune system. The immune system not only prevents disease from being easily affected, but also accelerates healing and recovery from illness. In the activities of training and workshop on the red ginger processing, participants get the benefits directly to be able to process red ginger and consumed independently or can also be used to increase family income. The method used in this activity is training and workshop. The result of this activity is that the community enthusiastically participates in this activity and the community acquires new knowledge about red ginger. Pandemi Covid-19 masih menjadi perhatian utama dunia, karena belum ditemukannya obat untuk menyembuhkan penyakit ini, namun sudah terdapat vaksin yang diberikan kepada masyarakat. Vaksin yang diberikan di Indonesia masih belum cukup untuk menciptakan kekebalan masyarakat atau herd immunity, sehingga masyarakat diharapkan dapat menjaga daya tahan tubuh dengan konsumsi makanan yang bergizi dan mengkonsumsi senyawa bioaktif yang memiliki aktivitas antiviral dan imunomodulator/immune booster. Senyawa bioaktif seperti gingerol, zingeron, shogaol, dan gingerin yang terdapat pada jahe merah (Zingiber officinale var rubrum) memiliki khasiat yang besar untuk meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh. Daya tahan tubuh tidak hanya mencegah agar tidak mudah terserang penyakit, namun juga mempercepat penyembuhan dan pemulihan dari sakit. Dalam kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan pengolahan jahe merah, peserta dapat merasakan manfaat secara langsung untuk bisa mengolah jahe merah dan dikonsumsi mandiri atau dapat juga digunakan untuk menambah penghasilan keluarga. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode penyuluhan dan pelatihan pembuatan serbuk jahe. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat antusias mengikuti kegiatan ini dan masyarakat mendapatkan pengetahuan baru mengenai jahe merah.

Abstract

Flavonoids are one of the secondary metabolites that have good pharmacological activity. One of the plants that contain flavonoid compounds is beetroot leaves. Beetroot leaves are waste or crop residues from beetroots that are rarely used. The use of extracts from plant leaves in the pharmaceutical world needs to consider the presence of ballast substances that can affect the activity of the extract. However, the purification process using organic solvents has the potential to lose the content of compounds contained in the extract, one of which is flavonoids. Therefore, this study aims to examine the profile of flavonoid compounds contained in purified extracts of beetroot leaves compared to the extract content. The study began with the manufacture of beetroot leaf extract, followed by the purification process of the extract using n-hexane and ethyl acetate as solvents. Extracts and purified extracts of beetroot leaves were then analyzed using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), UV-Vis Spectrophotometer and Infra Red (IR) Spectrophotometer. The results showed that the profile of flavonoid compounds contained in purified extract of beetroot leaves had similarities with the profile of flavonoid compounds found in beetroot leaf extract.

Abstract

Menuran Village, Baki District, Sukoharjo is one of the partner villages in the implementation of community service because the village has undeveloped agricultural potential, one of which is telang flowers. The telang flower (Clitoria ternatea L.) produces chemical compounds, one of which is a secondary metabolite that serves to survive. Some of these secondary metabolite compounds have benefits in pharmacological effects, one of which is as an antioxidant. The purple color in telang flowers comes from anthocyanin compounds that function as antioxidants. External antioxidants necessary to improve immunity and health can be obtained from beverages or cosmetics. Community empowerment through the cultivation and processing of telang flowers aims to provide an explanation of the benefits of telang flowers and develop household businesses. Community service methods are carried out through explanations and workshops applying telang flower cultivation techniques and making beverages, and soap. The development of method in this community service is the provision of material, practice, and conducting pre and post-tests. The pre-test results showed that 24% stated that they already knew the benefits of telang flowers, 36% stated that they already knew how to cultivate telang flowers, 48% stated that they already knew how to process telang flowers into the beverage, and 4% stated that they already knew how to process telang flowers into soap. The results of the post-test showed that there was an increase in understanding and success indicators had been achieved, namely, 96% stating that they already knew the benefits of telang flowers, 92% stated that they already knew how to cultivate telang flowers, 92% knew about the processing of telang flowers into the beverage, 84% knew about the processing of telang flowers into soap, 96% stated that they planned to apply for cultivation and processing telang flowers, and 100% of participants stated that this activity was useful and interesting. --- Desa Menuran Kecamatan Baki, Sukoharjo merupakan salah satu desa mitra dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat karena desa tersebut memiliki potensi pertanian yang belum dikembangkan, salah satunya bunga telang. Tanaman bunga telang (Clitoria ternatea L.) memproduksi senyawa kimia salah satunya metabolit sekunder yang berfungsi untuk bertahan hidup. Beberapa senyawa metabolit sekunder tersebut memiliki manfaat dalam efek farmakologis salah satunya sebagai antioksidan. Warna ungu pada bunga telang berasal dari senyawa antosianin yang berfungsi sebagai antioksidan. Antioksidan eksternal yang diperlukan untuk meningkatkan imunitas tubuh yang dapat diperoleh dari minuman atau kosmetik. Pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui budidaya dan pengolahan bunga telang bertujuan untuk memberikan penjelasan tentang manfaat bunga telang dan mengembangkan usaha rumah tangga. Metode pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan melalui penjelasan dan workshop mengaplikasikan teknik budidaya bunga telang, pembuatan minuman, dan sabun bunga telang. Metode yang dikembangkan dalam pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah penyampaian materi, praktek, dan melakukan pre dan post test. Hasil pre test menunjukkan bahwa sebesar 24% menyatakan bahwa sudah mengetahui manfaat bunga telang, 36% menyatakan bahwa sudah mengetahui cara budidaya bunga telang, 48% menyatakan sudah mengetahui cara pengolahan bunga telang menjadi minuman, dan 4% menyatakan sudah mengetahui cara pengolahan bunga telang menjadi sabun. Hasil post test menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pemahaman dan indikator keberhasilan telah tercapai yaitu sebesar 96% menyatakan bahwa sudah mengetahui manfaat bunga telang, 92% menyatakan sudah mengetahui cara budidaya bunga telang, 92% mengetahui tentang pengolahan bunga telang menjadi minuman, 84% mengetahui tentang pengolahan bunga telang menjadi sabun, 96% menyatakan berencana mengaplikasikan untuk budidaya dan mengolah bunga telang, dan 100% peserta menyatakan kegiatan ini bermanfaat dan menarik.

Abstract

Infeksi merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh mikroorganisme salah satunya bakteri. Daunpandan wangi (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb) mengandung senyawa kimia antibakteri yang telahdibuktikan dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli.Pembuatan nano-partikel digunakan untuk menanggulangi permasalahan dari bahan alam yaitusenyawa zat aktif hanya sedikit yang dapat mencapai target tempat aksi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalahuntuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri nano-partikel ekstrak daun pandan wangi terhadapStaphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Ekstrak daun pandan wangi diperoleh melalui prosesmaserasi dengan menggunakan etanol 70%. Pembuatan nano-partikel berdasarkan pada interaksielektostatik antara gugus amino kitosan dengan muatan negatif dari gugus polianiontripolyphosphate (TPP). Hasil uji Particle Size Analizer (PSA) didapat formula yang terbaikkemudian di uji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia colimenggunakan metode sumuran dibuat larutan uji dengan konsentrasi 40%, 50%, dan 60% sertadibandingkan dengan kontrol positif Amoksisillin dan kontrol negatif nano-partikel tanpa ekstrakdaun pandan wangi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa dalam 1ml nano-partikel ekstrak daun pandan wangidengan konsentrasi 60% memiliki daya hambat paling besar yaitu 11 mm dan 7 mm terhadapStaphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli.
