Abstract

Bats are very important for the ecosystem including for pollination as well as the spread of plants. Forest clearing for plantation becomes a threat to bats to fine food in fruits trees, specially frugivorous bats (Pteropodidae). The aim of this study is to determine the species diversity of frugivorous bats (Pteropodidae) in the area of Thang Raya Cave in Subdistrict of Beduai Sanggau Regency West Kalimantan, and the results of this study are expected to provide information about the types of frugivorous bats (Pteropodidae) that can be used in ecosystem management in the region of Thang Raya Cave. This research used the catch and release method with mist nets as many as 6 pieces. This mist nets were placed purposively at three research sites namely at the around of watershed, fruit trees and Thang raya Cave. The bats caught were measured, identified and tagged and then released. From the analysis, it is known the bats caught were as many as 31 individuals belonging to one family and two species of bat, were Rosettus amplexicaudatus and cynopterus horsfieldi with the number of individual 24 males and 7 femakes. The highest dominance indeks of bats found in the around of the Thnag Raya Café was (1,00), the indeks  of highest species diversity was found at of fruit trees (0,23), the evenness index was the highest at of fruit trees (0,76), the index of species richness was the highest at of fruit trees (1,05), and the similarty index was the highest at between the fruit trees and Thang Raya Cave (0,82). Abstract

This research aims to count the number of individuals and the number of groups of proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus, Wurmb). Before determining the location of the research, first, field orientation was conducted. The transects were placed purposively as many as 6 transects at locations determined to be a place or habitat of proboscis monkey according to the results of orientation, and the implementation used the river survey method (JCM Sha, et al., 2008). The data collected were entered into the table and then the number of individuals and the number of population groups were counted. Prediction was made on density of individual/ha and density of group/ha. The results of data analysis showed that at a 95% confidence interval of individual density of proboscis monkey population lies between 0.50 to 2.82 individuals/ha, with a density of population groups lying between 0.09 to 0.26 group/Ha. For the 99% confidence interval of individual density of proboscis monkey population, it lies between -0.27 / ha to 3.59 individuals/ha, with a density of population of group lying between 0.03 to 0.32 group/Ha. Abstract

ABSTRACT Reptiles are one species of fauna mostly found in West Kalimantan. This research aims to investigate kinds of squamates living in the area of Semahung mountain protected forest in Sebatih village in Sengah Temila sub-district in Landak district. Thhe research took place from February 14th to March 1st 2014 using visual encounter survey (VES). The status squamates found based on the red list of IUCN (International Unio for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources) comprises ten least concern squamates, two near threatened squamates and two not evaluated squamates. There are forteen species of squamates from five families. Based on Percent Similary value evaluation, the highest abundance is from Scincidae family that is  Eutropis rudis of 37%. The highest diversity value is on aquatic habitat of e’=0,8019. Of two habitats (aquatict and terrestrial) of squamates, the similary index of two habitats is 0,4, meaning that there are 40% of those species living in those habitats are similar species and 60% of those are different. It is because the two habitats have the similar altitude. Eutropis rudis have the highest meeting probability of 0,486 individual/hour. They are mostly seen in terrestrial habitat. Abstract

Shorebirds area group ofaquatic birds that are ecologically dependent on coastal areas, either as a haven, foraging and breeding (Howes, Bakwell and Noor. 2003). There are some shorebirds that breed away from the beach but still use the beach as a middleman to reach these places. Shorebirds like wetland habitats such as mangrove forests, seagrass beds, mud Hirst (mudflat), estuaries, ponds and rice fields. In general, there are two kinds of key threats to shorebirds in Indonesia, namely use change and habitat destruction and poaching in scale unsustainable. The use of toxins and pesticidesin agriculture is also considered a potential threat to shorebirds. The purpose of research is to determine the types of shorebirds that migrate in Tanjung Bunga Sub-District Teluk Pakedai, District Kubu Raya. Identification Data Type The Migratory Shorebirds can provide information and data to researchers and government agencies in the field of conservation of migratory shorebirds in Tanjung Bunga Sub-District Teluk Pakedai, District Kubu Raya, so it can be made in an effort programming management, protection and preservation in the region.
