Abstract

Keterampilan menulis adalah kemampuan menyampaikan gagasan penulis dalam bentuk tulisan. Hal tersebut merupakan keterampilan mengatur kata-kata menjadi sebuah produk tulisan yang baik. Namun, menulis merupakan hal yang sulit untuk dipelajari dan diajarkan. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk mengajar memulis adalah Project-Based Learning (PJBL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan PJBL terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dengan desain pre-experimental. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah 16 siswa kelas 7 SMP Katolik Santa Maria Tulungagung tahun pelajaran 2022/2023. Data yang diperoleh dari hasil pretest dan posttest dianalisis menggunakan program SPSS 26 untuk menguji hipotesis. Hasilnya, ditemukan nilai signifikan yaitu 0.000 lebih rendah dari 0.05 sehingga null hipotesis (H0) ditolak. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan pada keterampilan menulis deskriptif pada siswa setelah diajar menggunakan metode PJBL. Dengan kata lain, PJBL efektif untuk mengajar keterampilan menulis pada siswa, khususnya teks deskriptif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang peran dari internet pada kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menerjemahkan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa yang mengambil mata kuliah Translation. Data untuk penelitian untuk diambil dengan tiga cara, yaitu observasi, wawancara dan angket. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diketahui bahwa di kelas Translation mahasiswa memiliki kebebasan untuk menggunakan internet. Internet juga diyakini memberi kontribusi terhadap kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menerjemahkan terutama untuk menerjemahkan dengan lebih natural. Selain itu, mahasiswa memanfaatkan mesin pencari seperti google dan yahoo, membaca artikel-artikel di internet dalam bahasa Inggris dan menggunakan kamus online. Akan tetapi, mahasiswa cenderung tidak puas terhadap hasil terjemahan yang dihasilkan ketika mereka menggunakan google translate. Kesimpulan pertama yang dapat diambil, kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menerjemahkan cukup baik. Hal itu terbukti dengan nilai rata-rata kelas yang mencapai 78.67. Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan laporan akhir dari penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui bagaimana teknik outlining bisa digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis. Peneliti memutuskan untuk melaksanakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam empat tahap, perencanaan, pengimplementasian, observasi dan refleksi. Kriteria sukses yang ditetapkan adalah 75% dari seluruh siswa melampaui KKM 75. Pada siklus pertama, hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa hanya 50% dari siswa yang melampaui KKM 75. Sedangkan hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa siswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam menggunakan teknik outlining. Oleh karena itu, siklus kedua perlu untuk dilaksanakan. Pada siklus kedua, hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang melampaui KKM 75 ada 75% dari keseluruhan siswa. Selain itu, hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa siswa aktif dalam mengikuti kegiatan pembelajaran. Mereka cenderung lebih antusias dalam mengikuti pelajaran. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kriteria sukses sudah tercapai. Dengan kata lain, teknik outlining terbukti bisa meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis paragraf deskriptif.

Abstract

This article is a report of a finish piece of research which is intended to find out whether the students who were given the indirect corrective wrote a better writing than those who were given direct corrective feedback as the treatment. This study adopted the quasi-experimental research design. It was conducted at Universitas Bhinneka PGRI with the second semester students as the population. There were 31 students taken as the samples of this study. They were divided into two groups. 17 students who were taken as the experimental group given indirect corrective feedback on their writing while 14 students who were taken as the control group given direct corrective feedback. The findings of this study is that based on the ANCOVA statistical analysis using SPSS 16.0, it was found that the students who were given indirect corrective feedback do not produce a better writing than those who were given direct corrective feedback. Moreover, in this study, the students who were given direct corrective write a writing piece with more accuracy. Some suggestions are offered in relation to the findings English lecturer especially the lecturer of writing skill and further researchers. English lecturers are expected to be able to choose the best method of giving feedback on the students’ writing. The two kinds of corrective feedback may serve as alternatives since it is proven that they have significant effects on the students’ writing. For the further researcher, it is suggested that they do research in different contexts with different text types. It is also possible to do the research on the students’ preferences of what kind of feedback to be given to their writings.

Abstract

Kemampuan berbahasa Inggris, khususnya dalam aspek grammar, merupakan kompetensi penting bagi mahasiswa tingkat akhir dalam menghadapi dunia kerja dan studi lanjut. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman grammar mahasiswa semester 8 dari berbagai program studi di Universitas Bhinneka PGRI melalui pelatihan berbasis aplikasi EnglishScore. Pelatihan dilakukan secara daring melalui tiga sesi Zoom yang mencakup pengenalan materi grammar, latihan soal berbasis hasil tes awal, serta evaluasi hasil belajar melalui tes ulang. Sebanyak 400 mahasiswa mengikuti kegiatan ini. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada distribusi skor: pada tes pertama, 57% peserta berada pada rentang skor 0–199, dan hanya 15% berada di atas 300; sementara pada tes kedua, hanya 27% yang berada di rentang 0–199, dan 54% telah mencapai skor di atas 300. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan grammar menggunakan aplikasi EnglishScore efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi grammar mahasiswa. Kegiatan ini juga berhasil meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dan kesiapan mahasiswa dalam menghadapi tes kemampuan bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Covid-19 has been declared a worldwide pandemic. The government implemented learning from home to preserve the health of students and school stakeholders. The writing class is frequently conducted through a face-to-face learning scheme. It encouraged learners to interact with their lecturers and receive the materials as well as the feedback directly. Along with the university's online learning policy, Moodle evolved as one of several tools for managing online learning, particularly in writing classes. It constitutes certain limitations on the teaching-learning process.  Students had new experiences as a result of the quick changes in the learning scheme. The researchers aimed to investigate how the students experienced using Moodle in writing class during pandemic COVID 19 and to investigate students’ perception of the effectiveness of using Moodle in writing class. This research is qualitative research. The writer used the phenomenology approach. The participants were 23 students from the fourth semester of the English education department Universitas Bhinneka PGRI.  Interview and questionnaire were used by the researchers in collecting the data. Data analysis can be described in three stages as Organizing and familiarizing and Coding and reducing, and Interpreting and representing. The data was presented in a descriptive form to capture the explanations, thoughts, and experiences of the participants. Based on the students' experiences, the results show that using Moodle in writing class benefited students in a variety of ways, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, there are certain problems that students encountered. Despite their difficulties, they were able to overcome problems. According to the students' perceptions, the use of Moodle in the writing class was generally well-received. According to the majority of students, Moodle is effective in writing class, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

This research was aimed at investigating students‟ learning style, investigating students‟ achievement on English for Profession Course and seeing whether there is significant difference on students‟ achievement across different learning style. This research used a convergent mixed method design. The data were taken using questionnaire of learning style and achievement test. The findings of this study showed that from 37 students, 17 students were auditory learners, 15 students were visual learners and 5 students were kinaesthetic learners. Further, the mean score of achievement test for auditory and visual learners showed that they can be categorized into good achievement while the mean score of kinaesthetic learners showed that they can be categorized into very good achievement. Here, the visual learners have the lowest mean score of 80.67 and the kinaesthetic learners have the highest mean score of 86.00. Meanwhile, the auditory learners were in between with 82.35 of mean score. Finally, one-way Anova analysis is used to test the hypothesis and it showed that the Fcount < Ftable (0.335 < 3.28). Thus, H0 is accepted and it can be concluded that there is no significant difference on students‟ achievement in English for Profession course across the three learning styles of auditory, visual and kinaesthetic.

Abstract

Learning using technology nowadays has many benefits and advantages, but as a teacher you also have to know about the technology that has developed. Good teaching media is teaching media that becomes a bridge or link between teachers and students, besides that it can increase students' interest in learning. Teachers are also required to innovate in teaching using technology, because technology is diverse and has its own benefits, therefore teachers have a responsibility, apart from teaching material in class, to also learn about technology. In this research, researchers used Ispring suite 10 media which was created in the form of an application for learning in class XA at ​​SMAN 1 Rejotangan. This research used quantitavive research and pre-experiment type because take and class. Instrument research used worksheet with 20 multiple choice question and used expert validation. The research results showed significance as evidenced by the increase in students' average scores. The result of the finding showed that the mean score of pretest 75.69 to the mean posttest data of 85.14.
