Abstract

Parenting is a method or way to educate, love and facilitate children in an effort to shape the child's identity. Every parent certainly has differences in providing care, especially for children with special needs. The purpose of this study was to determine the forms of parenting and motivation used by parents for children with special needs to become outstanding children at SLB Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang Timur. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive method approach. The data sources used are in the form of observation, interview and documentation data. Structured interview data is obtained based on interview guidelines. The theory used in this research is Talcot Parson's Functional Structure Theory. Parenting consists of three categories, namely authoritarian parenting, permissive parenting and democratic parenting. The results showed that parents of children with special needs in the application of parenting use a democratic approach because children are given freedom, there is no coercion and selfishness of parents to children so that children are more optimal in choosing their abilities in achieving at SLB Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang Timur

Abstract

This study aims to find out how social actions are carried out by people living in the hot river public cemetery area of Batam city. In this study using qualitative methods with a descriptive method approach, the data obtained through the results of observations, interviews and documentation in this study to determine the informants needed through purposive sampling techniques first determine the criteria for informants based on the results of this research analysis looking at the causes of people choosing to live in public cemetery areas. Researchers also found actions taken by people living in the public cemetery area, including selling, using social assistance, and volunteering. This condition is meant by Max Weber in instrumental rationality actions, affective rationality actions, value rationality actions and traditional rationality actions in which a person performs rational actions to obtain the goals he wants to achieve and also the actions taken are determined by conscious beliefs in the form of ethical, aesthetic and religious values. Individuals perform actions hereditaryly and emotionally.

Abstract

The fishermen in Pemping Village, Rear Padang District, Batam City, are poverty-stricken in terms of fulfilling basic needs for the dynamics that occur in the eyes, causing the search for fish to be not optimal and not getting high selling prices for fish. In addition to poverty affecting fishermen caused by educational background, fishing that is not optimal, and not getting high selling prices, fishermen from the Pemping Village are also faced with problems with illegal smuggling activities. Furthermore, the Pemping community faces restricted access to fishing areas. International fishing transactions to Singapore, due to the increasing stringency of regulations by the two countries, requires the form of a strategy to meet the daily needs of fishing families. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The theory used is French Fukuyama's social capital as an analytical knife in this study. The results of this study are the trust of fellow fishermen gaining trust in the form of work, lending, and borrowing money. The two values and norms that are applied in society include maintaining friendship, helping each other, and feeling the same fate. The three social networks that exist among fishermen, relatives, and neighbors are used to obtain information on potential fish stocks and job vacancies, as well as obtain information on access to selling to middlemen at higher prices. Other strategies are adding working hours, looking for side jobs, and taking advantage of the potential of families in every house holds including women in fulfilling family needs.

Abstract

Skin care are a social reality that has mushroomed in social life, not only the upper age layer but also the lower age layer often use skin care. This society is synonymous with adolescence as seen from the status of those who are still in school due to the role of social media and also influencer reviewers, thus creating construction social media in the use of skin care by teenagers. The research entitled Social Construction of Beautiful Consept Adolescents in Tanjungpinang City. In order to be able to answer this problem, the theory put forward by Peter L. Berger is Construction Social. Among other things, by using the social definition paradigm by using qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques in this study used observation data collection techniques, interviews, and documentation. In this study there were 10 people as informants with purposive sampling technique. This study does not blame the use of skin care as a right or wrong behavior, but this research explains how to use skin care according to age, safety in use, avoiding extravagant living, so it doesn't change the meaning of beauty.

Abstract

The billiards game has become a deviant behavior for the community in Kiabu Village, the deviation occurs because of the gambling element in it. Billiards gambling that occurs among the Kiabu Village community is due to weak social control which causes unrest in the community. This research uses a qualitative approach, selecting informants using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were carried out in three stages, namely by interview, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use social control theory by Travis Hirschi. Data collection techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study found that billiard games became gambling activities due to weak social control which should be carried out by families who have an important attachment and role in self-control to prevent family members from doing deviant behavior, education where boring learning methods make students bored to learn and feel bored in the educational environment, and village government where the lack of efforts from the village government in dealing with billiard gambling marks the weak relationship between the community and the village government. The conclusion of this study is that billiard gambling occurs due to weak external control, where the weak attachment between family, education, and village government to billiard gambling offenders that should exist in Kiabu Village.

Abstract

The phenomenon that is happening now is that female students are competing to show an attractive appearance through thrift shopping. The purpose of this study was to find out Thrift Shopping as a Lifestyle for Tanjungpinang Students and in this study used Chaney's theory (2009:41). The method in this study the authors used a qualitative descriptive research type where in this study used 10 informants with interview and observation data collection techniques. Based on the results of the research, it is known that it is found that the attitude of students buys goods because the prices are much cheaper and the benefits they get are the same as buying new clothes. Students feel lucky because they get goods with well-known brands, students believe that what they wear will be a concern and identity for themselves, therefore some prefer branded items, rather than buying new clothes that are not branded. The conclusion in this study is thrift shopping as a lifestyle for Tanjungpinang students. In this case, students carry out thrifting with the aim of getting clothes with well-known brands besides that clothes with well-known brands are considered to have good quality. Therefore, in doing thrifting, it is clear to get branded and quality clothing, regardless of the main function of clothing is to cover and protect the body.

Abstract

The implementation of a traditional wedding ceremony is an event that requires considerable funding, overcoming the problem of financing the wedding, therefore the people in Tanjung Balau Village, Serasan District, Natuna Regency have given birth to various traditions, one of which is the wedding arisan, or often referred to as (Pesatuan). Geographical location, the amount given will remain the same and people in other villages may also participate so that this is interesting to study and is a difference from previous research. The purpose of this study was to find out how the wedding arisan tradition was carried out as a system of social exchange in the implementation of weddings (Studies in Communities in Tanjung Balau Village, Serasan District, Natuna Regency). The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method with as many as 10 informants and uses data collection techniques and tools in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses Social Exchange Theory by Thibaut and Kelley. The results of the study found that in this study, namely this social gathering, it had been running for ± 60 years to date. The wedding arisan in Tanjung Balau Village has several types of arisan including rice, sugar, fish, eggs, oil, wood, mineral water, single organ and seserahan arisan from proposing to marriage and each type of arisan has its own chairman. Each type of arisan has ±100 members or participants, and each participant may join more than one type of arisan as long as it is according to ability. If you donate rice you have to return rice, you donate oil you have to return oil, you donate sugar you have to return sugar with the same measure and amount. This wedding arisan tradition in the implementation of the wedding ceremony is a form of social exchange that occurs between members of the arisan. The pressures faced by members of the wedding arisan are by means of social control (preventive) which are not written but these are considered rules and norms that must be followed to prevent unwanted things from happening in the.
