Abstract

The number of people with diabetes mellitus (DM) worldwide continues to increase. In 2019, Indonesia was the seventh country with the largest number of people with DM worldwide. The people with DM in Indonesia were dominated by the productive age population. This study aims to determine the variables affecting the prevalence of DM in Indonesia in 2018. The analysis unit used is 34 provinces in Indonesia, where the data comes from the Health Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia and Statistics Indonesia. Graph analysis and multiple linear regression are the methods used in this study. DKI Jakarta has the highest DM prevalence in Indonesia, reaching 3.4 percent. The prevalences of obesity and hypertension have a positive effect on the prevalence of DM. The result shows that every one percent increase in the prevalence of obesity will increase the prevalence of DM by 0.049 percent. While, every one percent increase will increase the prevalence of DM by 0.168 percent. The percentage of the population smoking, not exercising, the unemployment rate, and the average length of schooling does not affect the prevalence of DM in Indonesia.

Abstract

The fifth goal of the SDGs is to achieve gender equality and empower women. One indicator of women's empowerment is to give women the opportunity to be in managerial positions. The proportion of women working in managerial positions tends to increase from year to year but still lagging behind and there are gaps compared to men. This study aims to determine the effect of the percentage of women with the highest diploma who had a minimum of Diploma IV, female AHH, female LFPR, the number of women who attended training, and the percentage of women working with married status on the proportion of women working in managerial positions in Indonesia 2015-2021. The data used is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency. The method used is the fixed effect panel data regression method with the Feasible Generalized Least Square estimation method. The results of this study indicate that the percentage of women with the highest diploma who had a minimum of Diploma IV, female AHH, and the percentage of women working with married status have a significant effect, while female LFPR and the number of women who attended training did not significantly affect the proportion of women working in managerial positions.

Abstract

The existence of forests is threatened with deforestation, which can affect climate disturbances and environmental decay. This study aims to analyze determinants of deforestation in Sumatera Island from 2011-2019. The dependent variable is deforestation, and the independent variables are population density, land fires, road length, GDP of agricultural, fisheries, and forestry, and GDP of mining and excavation. The results show that there is spatial-temporal heterogeneity in deforestation in Sumatera Island from 2011-2019. Furthermore, because of the normality violation, the Robust Geographically and Temporally Weighted Regression (RGTWR) method is used. Analysis shows variables affecting deforestation in Sumatera Island vary in each province and change annually. Land fires were always significant in every province and every year from 2011-2019. To overcome deforestation, the governments need to consider the varying causes of deforestation, more firmly to forestry regulation and establish cooperation with local communities in managing forest.

Abstract

Sulawesi Island has fairly high economic growth but is not followed by a significant decrease in income inequality. Therefore, a new strategy is needed to overcome these problems, one of them by increasing the role of the financial sector through financial inclusion. This study aims to analyze the relationship between financial inclusion, economic growth, and income inequality, as well as the factors influencing them in Sulawesi Island from 2011 to 2019. The analytical method used is the simultaneous equation model with panel data using the EC2SLS model. The results show that there is a simultaneous relationship between financial inclusion and economic growth and also between economic growth and income inequality. Economic growth has a positive and significant effect on financial inclusion. Financial inclusion, foreign direct investment, and government spending have a positive and significant effect, while income inequality has a negative and significant effect on economic growth. Financial inclusion and inflation have a positive and significant effect, while economic growth has a negative and significant effect on income inequality. Thus, this study can show that financial inclusion can reduce income inequality by promoting economic growth.

Abstract

The use of information and communication technology in ASEAN is massive and growing. This development not only has a positive impact, but also a negative one. In addition to advancements in various fields, criminality is also increasing. ASEAN is the fastest growing digital market in the world. As digital technology becomes more integrated into our lives, cybercrime will increase exponentially. This study aims to determine the overview and variables that affect cybercrime in ASEAN in 2015-2020. This research uses secondary data from ITU, World Bank, UNDP, and Transparency International the Global Coalition Against Corruption. Through descriptive analysis, it is found that the value of the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) in ASEAN has increased, but there is still a cybersecurity gap between countries in ASEAN. Through the panel data regression equation formed, it is found that economic growth, mobile broadband users, and average years of schooling significantly affect the GCI in ASEAN in 2015-2020. Meanwhile, the variables of mobile cellular users, technology exports, and corruption perception index do not have a significant effect. Therefore, governments in ASEAN countries are also expected to continue to increase economic growth and allocate budgets for technical implementation of cybersecurity. In addition, the government should maintain the stability of the number of mobile broadband users, and increase the average number of mobile broadband users.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) account for the majority of deaths in Indonesia, especially cardiovascular diseases. The main risk factor for cardiovascular disease is hypertension, which is also a disease with the highest increase in prevalence compared to other NCDs. The risk of cardiovascular disease doubles for every increase in blood pressure of 20/10 mmHg and starts from a pressure of 115/75 mmHg. Therefore, a prehypertension category was introduced which also aims to prevent the development of hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension in the majority of the productive age population (15─64 years) has exceeded the RPJMN 2015─2019 target, even though Indonesia is currently in the demographic bonus period. This research aims to obtain a general picture and factors that influence blood pressure status in the productive age population in Indonesia in 2018. The data used comes from Riskesdas which is integrated with Susenas in 2018. The results of the ordinal logistic regression analysis (non-proportional odds model) show that consumption of fruit and vegetables, consumption of fatty foods, consumption of salty foods, consumption of seasonings, alcohol consumption, smoking status, physical activity, education level, employment status, poverty status, residence, age, gender, and body mass index have a significant effect on blood pressure status in the productive age population.

Abstract

Transportation services are the most significant contributor to the deficit in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) services trade. From 2016 to 2019, eight out of ten countries in the ASEAN still experienced a trade deficit in transportation services. So that this condition does not drag on in a continuous deficit, one of the policies that each country can carry out is to increase the export performance of transportation services. This study aims to determine the factors that affect the export of transportation services in ASEAN. The secondary data used is trade flow data from 2012 to 2019 from the ASEAN Secretariat and World Bank. The method used is panel data regression with the Random Effect Model (REM). The result found that foreign direct investment, exports of goods, and value-added services significantly affect exports of transportation services in ASEAN. Meanwhile, internet users and exchange rates do not substantially affect exports of transportation services in ASEAN. The results of this study recommend continuing to improve the climate for ease of investment. In addition, it is essential to utilize resources that can increase the production of transportation services and maintain the availability of raw materials and capital goods.

Abstract

The main source of funding of BPJS Kesehatan comes from the different premium class in which the participant registered. The medical benefits among classes are equivalent, except inpatient facilities. But when the improvement health degree is not linear with the incurred costs, problem would arise. This study aims to analyze class shifting and determinants of BPJS Kesehatan membership. Around 1.53 percent of participants access higher classes, while 5.62 percent access lower classes. Class III participants with inpatient status severity level 2 and 3, reaching 41% and 43%, respectively. In addition, 60% of non-PBI participants are Class II premium participants; most of them are male, productive age, and workers. This research using Generalized Ordered Log- it Unconstrained Partial Proportional Odds Model concludes that participants who are married tend to choose higher premium class. Whereas productive age participants and a worker is in the lower premium class. The recommendation is the evaluation of membership based on class premium contributions considering potential participants (productive age and workers) who tend should be conducted in a lower class. Although mutual assistance is the principle of National Health Insurance, specific mechanisms should be established to examine the relation of age and health status to each participant regarding the difference in the registered class, besides their economic factors
