Abstract

The calligraphy is an aesthetic expression in Islamic world. Different from another arts activities that some times created controversies,  such as the art of sculpture or the art of' living pictures', the existence of caligraphy is regarded as one of sacred arts that 'closely related' to al-Qur'an. According to Ismail Raji al-Faruqi, explained in this article, the calligraphy in Islamic world is not only have the artistic values but also have the theological  values. For Faruqi, the art is an expression  oftauhid. In this position, tauhid could be explain as the essence of aesthetic and the aesthetic is an expression of tauhid This article stated that tauhid does not confront the art's creativities and does not also face up to the aesthetics audiences.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

[English]: Generational, transformational, and global meta-level are three typical activities of algebraic thinking students engage in school. Several studies show that students involve more in the generational activity than the other activities. However, some students still have difficulties solving problems in the generational activity. Therefore, this study focused on the generational activity, aiming to analyze student's algebraic thinking and difficulties in the generational activity. It involved ninety-five 7th-grade students given an initial test to measure their abilities in the generational activity. The analysis of students’ answers and interviews follow three steps; data condensation, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusions. This study indicates that, in the generational activity, the students can generalize statements from patterns better than forming statements and equations containing an unknown quantity. Students’ difficulties in the generational activities, including (1) understand the problems and turn them into mathematical forms and (2) generalize the patterns to the nth term. These are due to the students’ incomprehension of the relationships of some conditions in the given problems and understanding of the meaning of variables.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how students' reflective thinking skills in solving problems similar to PISA by looking at their mathematical dispositions. This research uses a qualitative approach with a qualitative descriptive research type. The subjects in this study were 34 students of class VIII A at an MTsN in Banjarnegara for the 2021/2022 academic year. Data collection techniques used are tests and non-tests. The instruments in this study were reflective thinking ability test sheets, mathematical disposition questionnaires, and interview guidelines. The data analysis technique of this research uses the data analysis technique of Miles and Huberman. The results of the data analysis show that most students with high mathematical dispositions have high and moderate reflective thinking skills. Students with a high mathematical disposition have been able to fulfill the indicators of the reacting, elaborating, and contemplating phases well, although some are still constrained in the reacting phase. Students with a moderate mathematical disposition have moderate reflective thinking skills because they are still constrained in the reacting phase, but are able to fulfill the indicators in other phases well even though they are not systematic. Some students with low mathematical dispositions have not been able to meet the indicators in the reacting, elaborating, and contemplating phases, so their reflective thinking skills are also low. It was also found that subjects with low mathematical disposition were able to meet the indicators in the reacting, elaborating, and contemplating phases so that they had good reflective thinking skills.
