Abstract

Land and forest fire are the natural disasters that often occur in Indonesian regions, especially Sumatera and Kalimantan. The disasters cause deep impacts to environments and human beings, so it is necessary to conduct mitigation. The research area took place in Central Kalimantan Province. The objective of the research is to applicate the MODIS remote sensing imagery for supporting the land and forest fire mitigation efforts, that is identifying the burned area. The analyzing is done by using methods of NDVI changes before and after land and forest burned periods in 2009. The stages of the research consist of; fire hotspot frequency analyzing, NDVI changes calculation, threshold of NDVI changes establishing, and burned area estimation based on the threshold result. The results of the research show that the burned area in Central Kalimantan can be identified by using MODIS based on NDVI changes. The total numbers of burned area in 2009 are 122.900 hectares, most of them occurred in Pulangpisau, Kapuas, Katingan and Kotawaringin District. The results are needed to be verified in the next further research based on the field survey and or by using the high resolution imageries such as Landsat, SPOT-2 or 4, ALOS, Ikonos or Quickbird.

Abstract

Simulation of eruption material flow using probabilistic model based on the Monte Carlo algorithm was conducted in this research. The simulation result was used to support the creation of zoning map of volcanic hazards and the estimation of building number which has possibility to be impacted by the Merapi Volcano eruption. Input data for the simulation was Digital Elevation Model - Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (DEM-SRTM) with a spatial resolution of 30 meters. In addition, GeoEye satelit imagery in 2009 was used to renew settlement information of the RBI map from BAKOSURTANAL. The simulation result of material flow eruption was overlaid with building area information to estimate the magnitude of eruption impact. The simulation results from this research has similar pattern and similar eruption material distribution with the reference map (volcanic hazard map of Merapi). The flow of Merapi eruption material generally leads to the south through the Gendol Rivers to Cangkringan, and to the southwest ward through the Puth Rivers to Srumbung. Material flow eruption is shown in height simulations 2 meters and 7 meters. The wider and widening of the simulation models material flow eruption generated, the greater impact on the settlements in the vicinity of Merapi Volcano.

Abstract

Geologically, most of Indonesia is located on subduction zone of the Pacific ring of fire that causes many emerging active volcanoes. The existence of active volcanoes has an implications that the volcanic eruption could occur at any time. This study aims to detect the precursors of volcanic eruption by using parameters NTI (Normalized Thermal Index) derived from MODIS data. Volcanic object selected is Raung Volcano in East Java, where around June to July 2015 showed an increase in volcanic activity and was erupted. Data processing method includes processing of Landsat-8 for the determination of the area of interest (caldera and active crater), MODIS image processing for NTI measurement, and analysis of spatial and temporal patterns of NTI. The results showed that the precursors of a volcanic eruption can be detected from the increasing of the NTI value in the kaldera and its value which relatively higher than in the surrounding area. NTI parameters have proven to have a good ability to distinguish between the kaldera and other objects during eruption period. In case of Raung Volcano, NTI value = 0.06 can be applied as a threshold value for the eruption of this volcano.

Abstract

Pada masa pandemi Covid-19, berbagai bidang mengalami penurunan, terutama bidang kesehatan dan ekonomi. Seperti di Desa Ciparigi Pondok Aren, banyak masyarakat yang ekonominya menurun akibat pandemi ini. Pengabdian (Mahasiswa) Kepada Masyarakat (PMKM) merupakan bentuk tanggung jawab seorang mahasiswa setelah menyelesaikan tugas belajar di kampus untuk mentransfer, mentransfomasikan, dan mengaplikasikan ilmu pengetahuan dari dalam kampus kepada masyarakat. Untuk merealisasikan hal tersebut, maka Mahasiswa Universitas Pamulang berinisiatif untuk mengusung kegiatan PKM dengan tema Memanfaatkan Kain Perca Dalam Pembuatan Masker Kain Guna Menambah Pendapatan Bersama Ibu-ibu. Tujuan PMKM ini untuk memberikan wawasan lebih kepada ibu-ibu Desa Ciparigi untuk memanfaatkan kain perca dan membuatnya menjadi masker kain yang sangat berguna pada saat pandemi, dan menumbuhkan minat berjualan masker kain dengan bermodalkan kain perca. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah dan praktik. Setelah mengikuti kegiatan ini, ibu-ibu dengan berbeda latar belakang diharapkan mampu dapat memanfaatkan kain perca yang terdapat di rumah, membuka peluang usaha, serta membantu memperbaiki roda perekonomian Indonesia yang sempat turun dikarenakan Covid-19. Kata kunci : PMKM; Masker Kain; Kain Perca
