Quality nursing services require nurses to work in a professional and standardized manner, where the service focuses on the patient and has to be comprehensive. The best nursing services can be realized by caring behavior which is fundamental to the nursing profession. The design of this research is “Quasi-experimental with One Group pretest-posttest design”. The study was conducted on 50 nurses in four wards selected by proportional random sampling. Data were analyzed with proportions and Paired T-Test. The results showed that there was significant differences caring domain such as cognitive abilities (p = 0.000), affective abilities (p = 0.000), psychomotor abilities (p = 0.000), and also work culture (p = 0.000) after being given caring training. It means that caring training can improve caring behavior and work culture. It is expected that the hospital will conduct caring training for all nurses for a minimum of 1 day with the training method carried out by lectures, questions and answers, role play/demonstrations, discussions and using the caring module as nurse guidance for caring behavior.

Abstract

The number of HIV positive cases reported in Indonesia from year to year tends to increase. The number of HIV cases in 2021 increased by 76 people and since 2022 there have been 3 new cases of HIV/AIDS. Where the highest cases were in their teens, the results of interviews conducted indicated that there were cases of immoral acts. Results The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitude and prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission in PGRI 3 high school youth in the Seberang Padang Working Area in 2022. This type of research used a quantitative research method. The research design used was a cross sectional study. This research was conducted in January - June 2022. For data collection in this study, it was conducted from June 6 2022 to June 11 2022. The population in this study were all students at SMA PGRI 3 Seberang Padang with a total of 100 people. The sampling technique in this study is total sampling. The results showed that the low level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS in adolescents was close to half (46%), close to half (42%) of adolescents had a negative attitude towards HIV/AIDS, whereas in the prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission that was close to half (46%) having preventive measures against the transmission of HIV/AIDS is not good. The results of the study show that the statistical test has a Sig.(p) value of 0.019 which is less than 0.05. The statistical test shows a Sig.(p) value of 0.007 which is less than 0.05. There is a relationship between the two variables. The suggestion for this research is for adolescents to increase their knowledge and insight about HIV/AIDS so that the risk of HIV/AIDS can be avoided.

Abstract

Purus Urban Village is an area located on the coast of Padang City which is classified as a red zone, having a high tsunami landfall. Based on an initial survey, 2 out of 3 heads of households stated that they did not know the actions before and after an earthquake and tsunami, and would not plan evacuation drills for the family at home. This study aims to determine the relationship between family knowledge and attitudes with earthquake and tsunami risk preparedness. Cross-sectional research design, research conducted in RW 03 Purus Village from November 2022 to May 2023. The study population was all heads of families in RW 03 Purus Village with simple random sampling a sample size of 120 families. Data collection techniques using questionnaires. Univariate data analysis by means of descriptive statistics in the form of frequency distribution and percentage, bivariate analysis by means of Chi-Square statistical test. The results showed that almost half of the (49.2%) had low preparedness, (7.5%) had low knowledge and more than half of the (50.8%) had negative attitudes. There was a significant relationship between knowledge and preparedness with a significance value (p-value) = 0.033 and a significant relationship between attitude and preparedness with a significance value (p-value) = 0.044. It is recommended that urban village increase the knowledge, attitudes and preparedness of families by promoting socialization or counseling and developing community action plans through earthquake and tsunami disaster preparedness groups. Future researchers should examine the factors that influence family preparedness in facing the risk of earthquake and tsunami disasters.
