Abstract

Salah satu program studi di lingkungan Universitas Ahmad Dahlan adalah Program studi Pendidikan Biologi. Pada tahun 2011 Program studi Pendidikan Biologi membuka Kelas baru yang berstandar Internasional dengan mahasiswa yang dibatasi yaitu 25 mahasiswa. Berdasar hasil belajar mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi semester lima tahun ajaran 2010/2011 pada mata kuliah genetika terlihat cukup memprihatinkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keaktifan dan prestasi belajar mahasiswa pendidikan biologi UAD khususnya pada kelas berstandar Internasional melalui model belajar kelompok dan media pembelajaran imitasi persilanganPenelitian ini dilakukan di UAD kampus 3 Jl. Prof. Dr. Soepomo Janturan Yogyakarta mulai bulan September 2012 dengan menyesuaikan kalender akademik semester gasal tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan biologi UAD kelas berstandar Internasional semester lima yang berjumlah 25 mahasiswa yang dikelompokan menjadi 5 kelompok dan diberikan pembelajaran dengan model belajar kelompok dengan bantuan media pembelajaran imitasi persilangan, dengan melibatkan 1 dosen pengampu mata kuliah dan 1 dosen pengamat penelitian. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilakukan secara kolaboratif. Teknik Pengumpulan data yang dilakukan yaitu menggabungkan instrumen-instrumen penelitian yaitu data observasi keaktifan mahasiswa dan Hasil Belajar MahasiswaBerdasarkan hasil penelitian tentang perbaikan pembelajaran pada mata kuliah Genetika yang terdiri dari 2 siklus, serta melakukan pengamatan pada kegiatan tersebut, dapat dirumuskan kesimpulan bahwa prestasi belajar mahasiswa sebelum menggunakan variasi model pembelajaran dan media pembelajaran menunjukkan prestasi yang kurang memuaskan. Aktifitas mahasiswa selama proses pembelajaran genetika dengan metode ceramah, tanyajawab, penugasan, model belajar kelompok dan penggunaan media pembelajaran menunjukkan perubahan yang positif.

Abstract

The decline in environmental quality is a severe problem that occurs in various countries in the world. The decline in environmental quality can occur due to several factors, including habitat degradation (pollution), ecosystem damage, and global climate change. Instilling an attitude of caring for the environment in higher education can be done through Environmental Education materials integrated into several courses or stand as a separate subject. The ultimate goal of Environmental Education is to make students have environmental literacy (environmental literacy). This study aimed to analyze the need for the development of environmental literacy instruments and to develop prototypes of literacy instruments. This research is a type of survey research. The research carries out in May – September 2019 at the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP UAD. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and unstructured interviews with questionnaire data collection instruments. Descriptive data analysis technique. Environmental science courses provide information on current environmental issues that students urgently need. After taking environmental science courses, students feel that environmental literacy has increased, but the level of environmental literacy is not yet known. Students and lecturers feel the need to see the level of environmental literacy, so it is necessary to develop an instrument to measure environmental literacy. The literacy instrument that will develop refers to the NAAEE consisting of four components, namely Competence (identification, analysis, investigation, and solution of environmental problems; knowledge (ecological concepts, environmental concepts, and environmental components); disposition (ideas/ideas, concern), sensitivity. ). , solutions to environmental problems); behavior (commitment to care for the environment and concrete actions to care for the environment).

Abstract

This research was aimed to know the influence of water quality and pollution on fecundity of Lebistes reticulatus Peters. The result of this research will show how environmental factors act toward the organism on several levels of ecological hierarchy. The disscussion of it then will enrich student's understanding about the effect of environmental fastors toward the organism. That is the material to learn.This research was carried out upon Gajah Wong river precisely on water mass which polluted by tannery waste and the water mass out of polluted area. Three sampling were carried out along the trasect which cover the befor- polluted area, the outlet of waste and the water mass polluted by the waste. Embrio was then counted for measure the fecundity.The result shows that pollution affect the fecundity of Lebistes reticulatus by turning the fecundity lower. Pollution caused the change of dissolved oxygen and water acidity from its normal condition. Indeed, pollution caused the low environmental quality, even for reproduction of the more-tolerannt fish. Disscussion upon that result will enrich student’s understanding about the effect of pollution toward living thing. By carrying the student into the field during teaching and learning proccesses and practicing on ecology, the understanding will go into effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of the protected chirping bird E-booklet at the Yogyakarta Various Animal and Ornamental Plants Market (PASTY) as a learning resource for class X biology based on material experts, media experts, and biology teachers. In this study, the preparation of an E-booklet adapted from a 4D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate) is limited to the develop stage. The quality assessment e-booklet uses a questionnaire method. Likert scale questionnaire (4 scales) was used to validate the product. Product validation was carried out by media experts, namely Biology Education lecturer at Ahmad Dahlan University, material expert namely ornithologist from the Science for Endangered and Trafficked Foundation (SCENTS), and class X Biology teacher at SMA Negeri 11 Yogyakarta. Data from the assessment questionnaire was then analyzed descriptively to determine the quality of the E-booklet. The results of the assessments from material experts, media experts, and Biology teachers showed that the quality of the compiled E-booklets was in the very good category.

Abstract

Biology Education Study Program students, FKIP UAD have a learning style that tends to be auditive-visual. Based on these student characteristics, it is necessary to select appropriate and appropriate learning media to retain the information provided as much as possible. Therefore it is required to use learning media to accommodate student learning styles, namely by using video learning media. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using video learning material on environmental pollution in the Environmental Science course. Video learning of environmental pollution material used includes water, soil, and air pollution. The research design is one-group pretest-postest design. The research was conduct at the Biology Education Study Program FKIP UAD in March-August 2018. The population in this study were all students of the Biology Education Study Program FKIP UAD semester VI academic year 2017-2018,  125 people (class A, B, C). Data collection techniques using observation and tests. The instruments used were the observation sheet and pre-post test. Data analysis includes prerequisite tests and hypothesis testing using the gain score and t-test. The results of the gain score for classes A, B, and C were obtained in the moderate category (0.3 ≤ g ≥0.7), meaning that there was an increase in learning outcomes using video learning. The t-test shows a significant difference between the pretest and post-test. The video learning of environmental pollution material is effectively used in the learning process of Environmental Science. Abstrak. Mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UAD memiliki gaya belajar yang cenderung auditif-visual. Berdasarkan karakteristik mahasiswa tersebut diperlukan pemilihan media pembelajaran yang tepat dan sesuai. Oleh karena itu perlu menggunakan media pembelajaran yang dapat mengakomodir gaya belajar mahasiswa, yaitu dengan penggunaan media pembelajaran video. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan video learning materi pencemaran lingkungan pada mata kuliah Ilmu Lingkungan. Video learning materi pencemaran lingkungan yang digunakan meliputi materi pencemaran air, tanah, dan udara. Desain penelitian yaitu  one-group pretest-postest design. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UAD pada bulan Maret–Agustus 2018. Sampel penelitian ini mahasiswa semester VI prodi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UAD tahun akademik 2017-2018, berjumlah 125 orang (kelas A,B,C). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, dan tes. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi dan soal. Teknik analisis data deskriptif kuantitatif, analisis data meliputi uji prasyarat dan uji hipotesis menggunakan gain score dan uji t. Hasil gain score untuk kelas A, B, dan C diperoleh kategori sedang (0,3 ≤ g ≥0,7), artinya terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar dengan menggunakan video learning. Hasil uji t menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara pretes dan postes sehingga video learning materi pencemaran lingkungan efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran Ilmu Lingkungan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of digital books of endangered birds according to the IUCN Red List at PASTY as a high school biology learning resource based on assessments by media experts, material experts, and biology teachers. In this study, the digital book compilation model was adapted from the 4D development model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). which is limited to development. The instrument used is a Likert scale assessment questionnaire sheet with scales 1-4. Product validation was carried out by media experts, namely a Biology Education lecturer, Ahmad Dahlan University, an ornithologist from the Science for Endangered and Trafficked Species (SCENTS) Foundation as a material expert , a class X biology teacher at SMA Negeri 1 Seyegan. The results of the product assessment were then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the digital book compiled had very good quality based on assessments by media experts, material experts, and biology teachers. Abstract

Environmental problems include pollution, loss of habitat, climate change, and decreased biodiversity related to human behavior. People who have environmental literacy will behave more responsibly towards their environment. An alternative solution that can be done is to build community environmental literacy through education. This study aims to analyze the level of environmental literacy of students based on the components of knowledge, attitudes, behavior. This type of research is quantitative with a survey method. Research respondents are students from 23 provinces in Indonesia who are currently studying at the Biology Education Study Program, Ahmad Dahlan University, with 93 respondents. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire, and the instrument uses an environmental literacy questionnaire (knowledge, attitudes, and behavior components). Validation of the instrument using exploratory factor analysis and reliability using Cronbach's Alpha. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative. The level of environmental literacy in the knowledge component of 69.55% (high criteria), 1.08% (moderate criteria), and 29.37% (low criteria). Components of student attitudes obtained 62.37% in the excellent; 13.04% neutral; 24.59% in the poor. The behavioral component 52.93% gave an occasional response; 37.28% always; and 9.80% never. Students' level of environmental literacy on the components of knowledge and attitudes is not in line with the behavior shown. Knowledge about the environment and attitudes care for the environment owned by students have not been fully expressed in the behavior that is responsible for the environment. Students have not fully implemented the knowledge and attitude components into the behavioral components.

Abstract

Bioethanol is an environmentally friendly and renewable alternative fuel. The use of alternative fuels is necessary because petroleum fuels make a major contribution to increasing greenhouse gas concentrations, especially CO2. Bioethanol can be obtained from materials containing carbohydrates such as cassava peel which has a high carbohydrate content, namely 4.55%. The aim of this research was to see the effect of the crude enzyme concentration of Bacillus subtilis on the results of sugar and bioethanol content of cassava peel fermentation with Zymomonas mobilis and to find out the crude enzyme concentration that had the greatest influence. This research is an experimental study with the independent variable, namely the concentration of crude cellulase enzyme B. subtilis with concentrations of 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15%, and 17.5% , and the dependent variables are sugar content from hydrolysis and bioethanol content from the fermentation process. The data obtained were analyzed using the ANOVA test and Duncan's test. The results of research on the effect of crude Bacillus subtilis cellulase enzyme concentrations of 8 concentrations have an influence on the amount of sugar and bioethanol produced from fermentation of cassava peel with Zymomonas mobilis. Crude Bacillus subtilis cellulase enzyme with a concentration of 17.5% had the greatest influence on sugar and bioethanol levels with a sugar content of 0.37% and a bioethanol content of 1.67%.

Abstract

The dense population of Cokrokusuman results in an increasing amount of waste, both organic and inorganic, one of which is plastic waste, therefore efforts need to be made to overcome this. The aim of this service is to introduce and increase knowledge and skills about ecobricks. The methods used are lectures, questions and answers, discussions, demonstrations and practice. This activity had a positive impact on the residents of Cokrokusuman, as can be seen from the evaluation results by comparing answers before and after the training. After the training, the community 100% understood the knowledge about ecobricks, materials and obstacles to making ecobricks. There are still 7.1% of people who do not understand the benefits and uses of ecobricks. The entire activity process was followed enthusiastically by all participants and gave satisfactory responses, the community was interested in making more diverse ecobrick creations.
