Abstract

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the growth of startups, particularly in developing nations. There are numerous opportunities for startups to innovate as a result of the rapid growth of technology, which can be utilized to better the lives of a great number of people in a variety of fields. Pioneering startups must place a significant emphasis on investment as it is a critical determinant in sustaining business growth and innovation. A multitude of organizations are compelled to cease operations and innovation as a result of insufficient financial resources. Often, venture capital (VC) firms or angel investors provide financial support to startups. Each year, a venture capitalist may assess thousands of funding proposals from startups. It signifies that venture capital entry is competitive for each startup. The many factors that influence a venture capitalist's decision to invest in a startup have been the subject of numerous studies. This study employs a multiple linear regression model to examine the influence of human capital, social media, the business sector, and entrepreneur gender on funding for advanced-stage startups in Indonesia.

Abstract

Indonesia is currently experiencing deindustrialization, characterized by a manufacturing industrial sector growth rate lower than the overall economic growth rate. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage the development of the industrial sector to achieve sustainable development. The scenario for industrial development policy is determined based on an evaluation of the country's economic position in relation to current business cycle conditions. The evaluation is carried out through output gap analysis, which refers to the gap between actual and potential output. The research aim is to analyze output potential estimates and gaps in the Indonesian non-oil and gas processing industry sector. The methodology used in this research includes the HP Filter (Hodrick-Prescott), BP Filter (Band-Pass), and the Production Function Approach. The findings show that Indonesia's non-oil and gas processing industry experienced a slight decline below its potential between 2020 and 2021. Therefore, policymakers must consider this; in the short term, inflationary pressures are caused by a positive output gap, so the government needs to prioritize efforts to control inflation. Meanwhile, medium-term structural reforms must continue to increase potential output, including increasing labor force participation, sustainable investment for capital factors, and improving the quality of human resources and technological expertise for productivity factors. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to the adoption of new emerging technologies.

Abstract

Technology commercialization in universities which consists of three phases, namely basic research, commercialization feasibility, and commercialization runs non-linearly and goes through licensing and spin-off creation. To achieve commercialization success, there are eight influencing factors, namely academic entrepreneur, role of technology, availability of market, availability of finance, intermediaries' support (i.e. University Technology Transfer Office (UTTO), university's incubator, and proof of concept center), role of collaborative research center, policy support, and regional infrastructure and environment. Meanwhile, the existing management theories that discuss the commercialization of technology in universities mostly use a resource perspective such as Resource-Based View (RBV), resource orchestration theory, and dynamic capabilities with university and spin-offs as unit of analysis. This literature study provides several recommendations for future studies. First, it needs to expand the analysis not limited to licensing and spin-off, and second, it is suggested to develop a resource perspective by enriching what dimensions influence the success of a technology commercialization in universities or provide alternative new management theories in understanding technology commercialization in university.

Abstract

Indonesia is experiencing an accelerated transition towards widespread electric vehicle (EV) adoption, bolstered by governmental support aimed at mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. While extensive research has been conducted on public acceptance of EVs, there remains a significant gap in the literature regarding the logistics sector, particularly in the domain of last-mile delivery. This gap is becoming increasingly salient as the e-commerce industry continues to expand, amplifying the impact of this sector. This study aims to provide a more comprehensive perspective on EV adoption by logistics firms by incorporating multiple stakeholders: the logistics firm itself, government entities, receivers, and suppliers. The research develops a multifaceted framework for EV adoption that encompasses these four stakeholder groups, with a particular emphasis on the logistics firm. This firm-centric approach is further delineated into two distinct levels: managerial and end-user (i.e., couriers). The proposed framework is designed to be implemented within computational modeling paradigms, facilitating deeper insights into how various factors surrounding logistics firm operations influence the electrification of last-mile delivery processes. This approach allows for a more nuanced understanding of the intricate relationships and interactions between stakeholders and operational variables in the context of EV adoption within the logistics sector.

Abstract

The research objective is establishing the relationship between business model, open innovation, and a firm’s performance in context-based corporate accelerator program held by Indonesia ICT industries. The crucial relationships between startup and industry collaboration are: co-creation; IP-sharing; reducing R&D costs; the need for risk sharing; and the primary driver of companies’ sustainability growth. Co-creation becomes the most reliable driver in the issue of the importance of collaboration, and it leads to an independent factor that should be firstly developed and continuously improved. The IP-sharing and risk-sharing factors are both reliable drivers but medium dependent. The startups and industries must have a proper contractual agreement once they decide to share the IP and risk. The integrity factor will be necessary for mutual benefit. Reducing R&D costs and the main driver of the company’s sustainability growth are the dependent variables or outcomes of the collaboration between startups and leading industries.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Systems Thinking (ST) and Entrepreneurial Thinking (ET) as complementary cognitive frameworks to develop a comprehensive approach to effective corporate turnaround management. Traditional turnaround strategies often emphasize linear processes, such as retrenchment and restructuring, while overlooking corporate decline and recovery's cognitive dimensions and dynamic nature. By synthesizing insights from various theoretical perspectives—including Resource-Based Theory, Stage Theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Theory, and Political Behavior—this research proposes a cyclical model that recognizes four interconnected stages: Cognitive, Behavioral, Turnaround Outcome, and Learning. This model highlights how managerial cognition shapes strategic choices and implementation effectiveness throughout the turnaround process. Unlike conventional approaches, the framework of this study incorporates cognitive adaptation, feedback loops, and resilience-building elements to enhance organizational recovery and long-term sustainability. The study culminates in developing an Integrated Turnaround Strategy Canvas. This practical tool enables decision-makers to apply cognitive skills in assessing corporate decline, implementing practical recovery actions, and building adaptive capabilities. This research contributes to the turnaround literature by highlighting the importance of cognitive flexibility, holistic thinking, entrepreneurial innovation, and political engagement in navigating organizational crises, moving beyond cost-cutting measures to foster strategic agility and sustainable competitive advantage in volatile business environments.

Abstract

Over the past five years, the education technology (EdTech) sector has gained increasing prominence, characterized by significant growth in investments, transactions, and overall revenues. PT Dibimbing (Dibimbing.id), an EdTech company, experienced a decline in revenue largely attributed to elevated customer acquisition costs (CAC). This research aims to analyze the challenges faced by Dibimbing.id and form an innovative and profitable business model for Dibimbing.id. This study uses qualitative research by applying Richardson's framework theory (Value Oriented Framework). This research was obtained through in-depth interviews and Forum Group Discussions (FGDs). The FGD involved teams in Dibimbing.id, including marketing and sales, development, operations, human resources, finance, and technology teams. The results showed that the existing business model faces problems such as variable learning speed, highly complex learning syllabus, hiring difficulties to find advanced talents, bootcamp business model that does not contribute to profit growth, students' concerns with limited job prospects, and financial constraints. Therefore, four solutions were revealed in this research for a new business model, namely self-paced learning, leveling course, job guarantee program, and Study Now Pay Later (SNPL).
