Abstract

Central Java was the largest shallot producing province in Indonesia with the Boyolali Regency as one of the main producers. Selo sub-district was the main contributor to organic shallot production in Boyolali Regency. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of farmers who cultivate organic shallots and to determine the production factors that affect the yield of shallots in the Argoayuningtani Farmer Group. The data used in this research are primary data and secondary data. Sampling was done by using the census method and the data analysis method used was multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the respondent farmers were generally young people and had a good enough education to develop organic agriculture. Production factors in the form of labor and biological pesticides have a significant effect on the yield of shallots. Variables of seeds, manure, and the land area had no significant effect on onion production. Further guidance needs to be carried out and developed because generally, farmers who work and join farmer groups are young and educated farmers, making it easier to develop organic agriculture in Boyolali Regency. Training is needed to make organic fertilizers and biological pesticides with active microbial ingredients that have been tested to increase shallot production.

Abstract

Onion farmers in Tawangmangu are currently experiencing difficulties due to changes in rainfall. As a result, they are planting garlic and then intercropping with shallots. This decision will have a direct impact on farmers' income. This study aims to determine the effect of farmers' decisions in intercropping garlic with shallots on farmers' income in the Tawangmangu District. This research was conducted in Tawangmangu District with a simple random sampling method to determine the sample size of 49 respondents. The method of data analysis used a two-stage least square. The decision to intercrop shallot and garlic does not affect farmers' income. The age of the farmer influences the decision to do intercropping. A farmer's income is influenced by land area and the use of Phonska fertilizer. To increase farmers' income, using fertilizers with similar elements must be paid more attention to when fertilizing plants.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and identify internal and external environmental factors, describe marketing strategies, and describe the priority strategies used by Soko Langit Agrotourism. The data processing and analysis method uses the IFE (Internal Factor Evaluation), EFE (External Factor Evaluation) matrix, the IE (Internal-External) matrix, the SWOT matrix (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats), and QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix). The study results were obtained from five internal and five external factors, which resulted in eight alternative strategies in the marketing of Soko Langit Agrotourism. This study resulted in three strategic priorities related to visitor satisfaction, including a) improving the quality of facility maintenance; b) adding and maintaining rides in order to compete with competitors; and c) taking advantage of capital opportunities from the village government to reduce the number of loans from banks. Recommendations for strategies that can be implemented include: allocating capital opportunities from the village government for facility maintenance costs; adding rides with manageable maintenance levels; improving facilities that accommodate extreme weather changes; increasing the efficiency of financing from bank loans; and increasing the efficiency of facilities to accommodate extreme weather.

Abstract

Climate change is an important educational issue that contributes to sustainable development. Students in urban areas play an important role as key contributors in mitigating the worsening climate change. This activity aims to increase the understanding of climate change among junior high school students in urban areas. The method used is a classical face-to-face approach with socialization and games using climate flashcards to convey information related to climate change. The evaluation results showed that the students' average knowledge of climate change reached 74.3%, but there was a lower understanding, namely 34.6%, related to adaptation and mitigation efforts. This finding shows that although the students' knowledge level is quite high, a comprehensive understanding of climate change is still lacking. Through this training, an increase in students' understanding of 93% was recorded, indicating that the socialization and game method using climate flashcards was effective in improving students' comprehensive knowledge of climate change. Therefore, this "understanding of climate change" training can be an effective model for climate change education for students

Abstract

This study investigates the marketing of large red chilies in Kedawung District, Sragen Regency, Central Java, where farmers often face fluctuating prices, forcing them to sell at the prevailing market rates. Conducted in December 2021, the research focuses on understanding the marketing channels for these chilies amidst unstable prices. Using a descriptive analytical method, the study involved 10 farmers, 10 marketing agencies, and 10 consumers to identify and analyze the marketing channels. The study reveals three main marketing channels with varying structures and margins. Channel I, directly linking farmers to consumers via collectors, has a marketing margin of IDR 2000/Kg and a farmer's share of 88.3%. Channel II, which includes retailers, has a margin of IDR 7000/Kg and a 69% farmer's share. Channel III, involving wholesalers and retailers, shows the highest margin of IDR 9000/Kg with a 62.5% farmer's share. Despite the price fluctuations, all channels are deemed efficient based on the farmer's share data.
