Abstract

Tulisan yang disajikan dalam Lumen Veritatis edisi kali ini terangkai dalam beberapa fokus kajian yang meliputi kedua tema di atas (Agama dan Budaya). Berbagai eksplosari ilmiah dijalankan demi sebuah tatanan praksis yang bernilai filosofis. Kiranya keterjalinan kajian-kajian ini membawahi anjuran kebijaksanaan yang telah dicatatkan Aristoteles; First, have a definite, clear practical ideal; a goal, an objective. Second, have the necessary means to achieve your ends; wisdom, money, materials, and methods. Third, adjust all your means to that end. Bahwa, memiliki idealisme untuk sebuah tujuan membutuhkan sarana untuk persesuaian tersebut. Bahwa, agama yang ber-zaman, membutuhkan permenungan yang berbudaya. Ini menjadi bagian penting dari rutinitas ilmiah filsafat. Dan terungkap sebagai penegasan lanjutan bahwa, segala studi dan kajian terhadap berbagai ilmu, harus membawa kita ke dalam kesatuan relasi ilmu-ilmu tersebut. Kajian tentang Hauteas, selain sebagai perkenalan terhadap kultur keagamaan tradisional, juga membantu terjadinya inkulturasi keimanan orang Kristen. Sementara, kajian tentang Hak dan Tanggung Jawab Atas Lingkungan Hidup, mau memperlihatkan hakikat lingkungan dengan komponen biotik dan abiotik sangat mempengaruhi proses perkembangan seluruh makhluk. Selanjutnya, kajian terhadap tema Sexual Abuse menjadi salah satu cara untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya dalam hidup keagamaan. Diikuti kajian terhadap Pembentukan Karakter melalui analisis fenomena tradisi lisan yang menekankan adanya perjumpaan manusia dengan kebudayaan yang inkulturatif. Di samping itu, hadir juga sebuah refleksi teologis-filosofis terhadap kepercayaan agama asli di Sumba (Agama Marapu) tentang Perjalanan Jiwa ke ‘Kampung Leluhur’. Dan yang terakhir adalah sebuah kajian Fenomenologis dari isu jeritan semesta atas penyalahgunaan dan panggilan untuk bertanggung jawab.

Abstract

Lumen Veritatis edisi Oktober 2020 hadir dan teramu dalam rangkaian pemahaman akan iman dan pengetahuan. Wacana dasar yang tersaji melalui karya-karya para penulis, mulai dari Kitab Suci sebagai sumber keberimanan, Teologi sebagai tonggak, diikuti praktek-praktek teoritikal yang humanis, merupakan penyataan dari sebuah ekspresi pengetahuan. Di dalamnya, manusia yang melakukan pencaharian menyadari keterbatasan akan pengetahuannya, jika tanpa iman yang menyelamatkan. Rangkaian kisah kebesaran kasih Allah yang mengungkapkan hakekat-Nya yang hakiki telah tercurahkan sejak penciptaan manusia dengan segala kelengkapan akal budi dan kehendaknya yang bebas, supaya manusia dapat mengambil bagian dalam kehidupan-Nya yang ilahi dan bahagia. Dan kisah pencurahkan kasih ini telah teralami dalam seluruh perjalanan hidup bangsa Israel sebagai bangsa pilihan. Demikian kasih Allah, dialami seutuhnya, tetapi tidak terselami segala rencana kasih-Nya. Demi membina dan mempertahankan kehidupan iman, manusia hanya mampu mengekspresikan ketaatannya pada kasih Allah yang tidak terselami.

Abstract

Louis Althusser has been called a structuralist or precisely as a structural marxist. Althusser himself does reject the name structuralist, but in some terms he uses, such as structure, structural, anti-humanism, anti-historisism, makes himself close to the structuralistic terminology. The emphasis it should have on his thinking of theoretical humanism was the attempt to avoid any misconception that he was opposing humanism, emphasizing human dignity and human rights. Though he merely rejected the stand that made man the center of history and the center of reality. For Althusser, this establishment was a humanism to the theory of Marx and Lenin, of history.

Abstract

Kerahiman adalah asas dan spirit utama bagi terbangunnya sebuah relasi dan komunikasi yang bertanggung jawab dan manusiawi. Ketika manusia terus tergiring untuk mengagungkan teknologi, hadir pula penampakkan mulia yang tidak akan mungkin termakan oleh perkembangan zaman. Dialah kerahiman. Kerahiman yang diimani sebagai tindakan Allah yang paling mendasar; dengan mana Allah datang menjumpai, berelasi, berkomunikasi, sampai pada penyelamatan manusia melalui Yesus Kristus.

Abstract

Catholics have the holy Bible as a way of life of faith. But in reality there are still many people, especially young Catholics, who do not have adequate knowledge of their own scriptures. In addition, they are not used to reading and meditating on it, let alone using the holy Bible as a source of reflection for the sake of worship. On the other hand, the need for knowledge of the scriptures is increasing among the people. Likewise, the need for skills to read and meditate on the scriptures and the ability to compose biblical reflections that are useful in thanksgiving worship. This basic course of Bible training was created to answer the needs of Catholics, especially the young Catholics in the Saint Gregory the Great Oeleta Parish. Through this activity, the participants gain knowledge about the scriptures in general, and the skills to explore the texts of the scriptures and compose biblical reflections. Abstract

One aspect that can be learned from the figure of a Mary in the Bible is her holiness. As a young woman or a virgin who was chosen to conceive and give birth to Jesus, the Son of God, Mary had a wealth of spirituality that today's Christian women can emulate. One of the riches of spirituality is its holiness. This study examines aspects of the holiness of Mary based on the Bible and the teachings of the Catholic Church. The method used is library research with a descriptive analysis approach. From an analysis of the holy texts and teachings of the Catholic Church, it is found that Mary has three dimensions of holiness, namely existential holiness, spiritual holiness and moral holiness. This holiness of Mary is a model for the holiness of Christian women today.

Abstract

The research aims to examine the concept of human relations in Martin Buber's thought and seeks to read this concept against the phenomenon of human trafficking in Indonesia. The formulation of the questions in this study are; what is the concept of the I-thou relationship from Martib Buber's point of view? and how is this concept used to read (analyze, view) the phenomenon of human trafficking crimes in Indonesia? This paper is analyzed using the literature review method through literary sources such as books, journals and relevant articles. The results of the study found that Martin Buber divides human relations into two types, namely the I-it relationship and the I-thou relationship. Through the pattern of the "I-it" relation, there is a relation that runs as subject-object. Where "I" always sees the other as a mere object. Meanwhile, the pattern of "I-thou" relationship requires interpersonal relationships that run dialogically and reciprocally. There is a dimension of equality there. I see other people not as objects but as subjects like the other me. Because of that there is a principle of mutual responsibility. The relevance of Martin Buber's concept to the phenomenon of human trafficking is as follows: first, in the I-you relationship it is reflected that I must treat others the way I want to be treated. Second, the couple must hold each other, not annihilate each other. Third, dialogue oriented towards mutual understanding, responsibility towards 'the other' without imposing personal will, fourth, an I-Thou relationship requires everyone to uphold the attitude of sociality with the aim of eliminating the attitude of ego and greed that often makes other people need satisfiers.

Abstract

The practice of academic cheating is one of the biggest scandals in the educational process at various universities throughout Indonesia. This study aims to elaborate on the issue from Michael Sandel's philosophical criticism of the tyranny of meritocracy and the reproduction ofeducational inequality. The research uses the literature review research method, which is carried out by identifying, analyzing, and interpreting Sandel's works critically, especially his book, The Tyranny of Merit: What Becomes the Common Good? The results of this study indicate that academic cheating in university is not only the result of personal academic incompetence or degradation of personal moral integrity but mainly the result of the educational system and paradigm that exalts and adores meritocracy. Under the tyranny of meritocracy, the academicians concentrate on pursuing academic titles and individual pride rather than being an organic and humanistic intellectual. It can be concluded that under meritocracy, the education system fails to implement its humanistic and liberating role and instead reproduces the new social inequality and oppression. This research has implications for the revitalization of education’s role as an agent of liberation, equality, and justice in Indonesia.

Abstract

Legio Maria is a Catholic lay organization that is devoted to the Virgin Mary. As devotees of Our Lady, members of the Legion of Mary should have an adequate understanding of Our Lady who is believed in and accepted as the Supreme Commander of the Legion of Mary. However, in reality, there are still many members of the Legion of Mary who do not have adequate knowledge and understanding of Mary in the holy scriptures. This research aims to determine the extent of understanding of the members of the Legio Maria Parish of Saint Simon Peter Tarus about the Virgin Mary and provide an understanding of Mary in the holy scriptures. The method used is field research combined with library research. The results of the research state that most members of the Legion of Mary in this parish do not understand the Virgin Mary according to the information in the holy books, especially the four Gospels. As a solution to this lack of understanding, the author offers the importance of scriptural training for legionaries by explaining the description of Mary in the four Gospels based on selected texts. The results of this research became a starting point for further activities, namely community service in the form of basic holy book training courses for members of the Legio Maria Parish of Saint Simon Peter Tarus.
