Abstract

This paper describes a study that compared performance and emission from a 97 cc small single cylinder gasoline engine using five differences carburetor jet configuration. The study is based on the engine test bed results. The test results have shown that the bigger main jet produce slightly higher torque and power than the smaller one, but the fuel consumption also higher. The emission test results have shown a higher hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) for bigger main jet configuration. However Oxide of Nitrogen (NOx) emission from bigger main jet configuration was generally lower. The smallest jet configuration produced to lean fuel air mixture and caused engine over heat. The data obtained in this study indicate that the best configuration for the engine tested is 72/38 jet configuration.

Abstract

This paper describes a study an influence of ethanol concentration in premium-ethanol fuel blends on vehicle performance and exhaust gas emissions. The study is based on the vehicle test on chassis dynamometer. Exhaust gas emission was measured on idle condition and using ECE standard regulation No. 83-04. Three compositions were performed on the first step, which are 3%, 10% and 20% of volume. Performance and emission results were compared to the test results on the same vehicle fuelled with 100% premium and pertamax. The test results have shown that increasing concentration of ethanol will increase torque and power, reduce CO and HC emission, except on idle condition. 10% ethanol concentration have identical performance characteristic with the same vehicle fuelled with pertamax, with 60% less CO emission on idle condition and 30% less when using ECE 83-04 standard.

Abstract

This paper describes a study that compared heat release, performance and exhaust emission from asingle cylinder direct injection engine fueled with dual-fuel (Compressed Natural Gas, CNG), with thoseIndonesian dieselfuel (solar). The dualfuel tested was mixture of about 80% CNG-20% Solar. The study isbased on the engine test bed results from Centerfor Thermodynamics, Engines and Propulsion-BPPT. Thetest results have shown that for a given engine speed, the diffusive combustion phase period on the enginefueled with dualfuel were shorter than dieselfuel, whereas the late combustion phase were longer. However, premixed orrapid combustion phase periodfor dualfuel were shorter at low speedandlonger at high speedthan thosefoundfor dieselfuel. Enginefueled with dualfuel pratically produced the same maximum torqueandpower asenginefueled with dieselfuel 100%, andean be operated on large range ofspeed. The emissiontest results have shown a lower particulate matter, slightly higher hydrocarbon (HC) andcarbon monoxide(CO) than the same enginefueled. Oxide ofNitrogen (NOx) emissionfrom dual-fueled however was generallyhigher. The data obtained in this study indicate that dualfuel has promise asan emission reducing alternativefuelfor dieselengine, mainly onparticulate emission.

Abstract

Liquid Gas Vehicle (LGV) is one of an alternative hydrocarbon fuel, which is the dominant composition are propane and butane, and now is already available in the market. With low sulfur content and high octane number, theoritically vehicle emissions using LGV are better than gasoline. But it is need a good mixture ratio of air to LGV (AFR) in the gas mixer before enter to the engine. This paper describes a study that compared emission test results from gasoline engine using LGV with standard mixer and Pertamax market fuel. The study was based on the vehicle chassis dynamometer test results according to the UN-ECE R83-04 test cycle standard on both cold and hot starts. The test results have shown that on urban cycle CO and HC emissions of Pertamax fuel was better than LGV on both cold and hot starts. Whereis on extra urban cycle CO emission of LGV fuel was better than Pertamax. NOx emission of LGV fuel was very low and practically undetected for all test condition. Utilisation of LGV fuel reduce CO2 emission in order of 15% for urban drive cycle for both cold and hot start, and in order of 9,2% for cold start and 10.5% for hot start for mixed cycle.

Abstract

To accelerate the energy transition, starting February 1, 2023, the Indonesian government has made it mandatory to use biodiesel (B35). Biodiesel has different characteristics from diesel oil, especially its greater viscosity and density, lower heating value, and high NOx emission. Therefore, this research has been carried out by adding the additive diethyl ether (DEE) to B35 to reduce the viscosity and density, increase the cetane number, and reduce emissions. The effects of diethyl ether on engine performances have been evaluated, including parameters of torque, power, brake thermal efficiency, brake-specific fuel consumption, exhaust emissions, and lubricants. The fuels used are B35 (35% FAME palm oil + 65% diesel oil), and B35 + DEE, with a DEE volume percentage of 3% to 6%. Diesel fuel (B0) was used as a comparison. Tests were carried out in the engine performance test laboratory using the heavy-duty diesel engine Komatsu SAA12V140E-3 at various engine speeds. The test results showed that adding diethyl ether slightly increases the average maximum power, increases brake thermal efficiency, and reduces brake-specific fuel consumption and emissions compared to B35. Very significant effects were seen in NOx and SO2 exhaust emissions. At maximum load, the mixture with 4% diethyl ether gave the greatest brake thermal efficiency, the lowest brake-specific fuel consumption, and the greatest reduction in NOx and SO2 emissions, respectively 7.69%, 6.30%, 53.48%, and 40.89% compared to B35, and 2.24%, (-0.90%), 48.88% and 71.17% compared to B0, respectively. Evaluation of lubricating oil during the performance test did not show a significant difference for all types of fuel used.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of product quality, service quality, and price perception on purchasing decisions at Janji Jiwa Coffee Shop. A total of 106 respondents, who were customers visiting Kopi Janji Jiwa, were collected using an accidental sampling technique. Primary data was gathered through questionnaires and analyzed using quantitative methods with SPSS20 software. The results revealed that product quality does not significantly influence purchasing decisions. In contrast, service quality and price perception have a significant impact on purchasing decisions. The findings suggest that product quality does not affect purchasing decisions when consumers do not consider product quality as a factor in their purchase decision-making process. Service quality influences purchasing decisions when consumers consider the quality of service provided during the decision-making process. Additionally, price perception affects purchasing decisions when consumers take into account the product price in their decision to purchase or not. The study concludes that enhancing service quality and managing price perception are crucial for influencing consumer purchasing decisions at Janji Jiwa Coffee Shop.
