Abstract

Background: Basic life support (BLS) is one of the skills in Emergency Nursing that is a mandatory achievement for undergraduate nursing students. During the past COVID-19 pandemic, the training method changed to an online learning system. This study aimed to determine differences in increasing students' knowledge and skills in carrying out BHD procedures according to the American Heart Association (AHA) 2020 guidelines Methods: This research was a quantitative-experimental pre and post-test design. The population in this study were undergraduate nursing students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Wiraraja University, in July 2021. Sampling used a simple random sampling technique (n=74), then divided randomly into two groups, the learning group using the offline method (K1; n= 36) and the learning group using the online method (K2; n=38). In this study, the independent variables were BLS knowledge and skill. Data analysis used the Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test because the research data was homogeneous but not normally distributed (α=0.05). Results: The results of the difference test between the two paired groups were p<α; knowledge K1 (0.000), knowledge K2 (0.001), skill K1 (0.002), skill K2 (0.003). Conclusion: The research results showed no difference in knowledge and skills in BHD according to the 2020 AHA guidelines between offline and online learning groups using the simulation method

Abstract

Background: reproduction is an important aspect in health development, especially for adolescents who are in the transition period from childhood to adulthood. Adolescents in coastal areas often face unique challenges that impact their knowledge of reproductive health. These factors can be social, economic, cultural, as well as access to information and health services Methods: This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to teenagers in coastal areas. Respondents were randomly selected from several middle and high schools in the area. Data analysis was carried out using statistical software to identify factors that significantly influence adolescent reproductive health knowledge . Results: The results of the study show that factors such as parental education, access to information (0.000), the role of schools (0.037), and peer (0.000) influence significantly influence the level of reproductive health knowledge of adolescents in coastal areas. On the other hand , cultural and economic values of the family also play an important role, but their impact varies more depending on the specific context of each community Conclusion: Knowledge of adolescent reproductive health in coastal areas is influenced by various interrelated factors. Efforts to increase this knowledge must include a holistic approach, involving parental education, increasing access to information, strengthening the role of schools, and addressing cultural norms that hinder it. Intervention programs that focus on teacher training, health campaigns through the media, and improving health facilities in coastal areas can help increase knowledge of adolescent reproductive health.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents are a group that is vulnerable to the spread of HIV/AIDS due to risky behavior such as unprotected sexual intercourse and drug use. One approach that can be used to understand and reduce this risky behavior is self-efficacy, which is an individual's belief in their ability to take preventive action. The purpose of this study was to test the model of risky behavior towards preventing HIV/AIDS transmission based on self-efficacy in adolescents in Sumenep City District, Methods: This study is an observational analytical study, the population of the study is all adolescents aged at least 16 years in the Sumenep City District Results: Based on the Goodness of Fit table, the final model for adolescent risk behavior in the Sumenep City District can be said to be fit when viewed from several criteria, for example the Chi-square value of 0.001 (which is expected to be small), the GFI value of 0.915 (standard> 0.90), the NFI value of 0.934 (standard> 0.90), and the RMR value of 0.030 (standard <0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the self-efficacy-based behavioral model is effective in reducing risky behavior and increasing preventive measures for HIV/AIDS transmission among adolescents in the Sumenep City District. This approach can be an effective strategy in preventing HIV/AIDS in the adolescent community by increasing their confidence in their ability to take appropriate preventive measures.

Abstract
