Abstract

Livestock is one of the important sources for  protein in Jambi Province. However, the information on the consumption behavior of animal protein by local people was not available . Hence, the study aimed to analyze the behavior of consumption of protein sources from livestock between geographically and demographically separate regions.The researchsurveyconductedfor sixmonthsusingcross-section datawith the unitof analysisis the household. The multistage cluster random sampling(CRS) technique was used to selectthreetypes sub-districts(urban, migrantandnativerural) inthreedistrictsrepresentingthe western,central and eastern. The selected numbers of 150 householdswhere are allocatedequally with50electedforeach district. Simultaneous equationsmodel ofAIDS(Almost Ideal Demand System) was usedtoanalyze the difference inthe proportion ofconsumer spendingforfood material sources ofanimal protein from livestock. The AIDS model estimated bySeeminglyUnrelatedEquation (SUR) technique usingthe SAS/ETS9.12. The result showed that geographically,  the household expenditure for eggs significantdifferencesamong the others and the highestoccur ineastern regions; while demographically, the household expenditure formeatin rural areas was significantly higher thanin the urban, but fordairysignificantly higher than in urban areas. The household expenditure for eggs more responsive to the other prices, but the meat more responsive to own and dairy prices. The same non-price factor was significantly influenced to all commodities for livestock products, and the relationship between eggandmeatcommodities weresubstituted, but with dairywascomplementary. Abstract

Teknologi biogas merupakan bioenergi yang berpotensi mengurangi kerusakan lingkungan. Manfaat teknologi biogas bagi rumah tangga peternak sapi masih ber bentuk deskriptif, sehingga dibutuhkan kajian empiris guna menentukan potensi nilai manfaat ekonomi sebenarnya teknologi biogas. Maka dilakukan penelitian penggunaan metode valuasi ekosistem guna menentukan nilai manfaat teknologi biogas bagi rumah tangga dan potensi nilai ekonomi jika dikembangkan secara luas pada suatu wilayah. Pemilihan rumah tangga sebagai unit analisis menggunakan teknik penarikan contoh acak kelompok bertahap (multistage cluster random sampling) secara sengaja (purposive sampling), pemilihan sentra pengembangan teknologi biogas secara sengaja pada wilayah terpilih dan pemilihan rumah tangga sebagai unit sampling di sentra pengembangan secara acak sederhana (simple random). Alokasi rumah tangga menggunakan pendekatan alokasi proporsional (proportional allocation). Data sekunder bersumber dari instansi terkait dan data primer melalui observasi langsung dengan teknik wawancara dan pengisian kuisioner. Tahun pertama adalah analisis regresi berganda untuk mengetahui faktor yang mempengaruhi adopsi dan aplikasi teknologi dan pendekatan evaluasi ekonomi untuk menentukan besaran nilai manfaat teknologi biogas. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingkat adopsi teknologi biogas masih belum menggembirakan yaitu sebesar 53,33% dengan nilai manfaat teknologi biogas sebesar 66,15%.

Abstract

Penelitian dilaksanakan di habitat mentok rimba yang ada di Taman Nasional Berbak (TNB) Provinsi Jambi. Pelaksanaan penelitian selama 5 bulan dari bulan Juli sampai Nopember 2016. Habitat mentok rimba merupakan daerah rawa-rawa yang berdekatan dengan Desa Telago Limo dan Desa Sungai Rambut.Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis karakteristik habitat Mentok Rimba dan mengetahui binatang, tumbuhan yang menjadi sumber makanan Mentok Rimba di Kawasan Taman Nasional Berbak. Metode penelitian adalah survei dan eksperimen di lapangan serta di laboratorium Fakultas Peternakan. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap aspek ekologi, ekonomi dan sosial budaya masyarakat sekitar TNB, karakteristik habitat mentok rimba yang berhubungan dengan keberlanjutan mentok rimba. Indeks keberlanjutan mentok rimba di TNB secara multidimensi sebesar 48,98 pada skala sustainabilitas 0 – 100, yang berarti termasuk ke dalam kategori kurang berkelanjutan. Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Coleus amboinicus L. (daun bangun-bangun) dan Sauropus androgynus L. Merr (daun katuk) terhadap produksi susu kambing Peranakan Etawah. Enam belas ekor kambing Peranakan Etawah laktasi digunakan pada penelitian ini dengan rancangan acak kelompok 4 x 4. Perlakuan P0 = 30% konsentrat +70% hijauan, P1= P0+6 g/kg BK Coleus amboinicus L., P2 = P0+6 g/kg BK Sauropus androgynus L. Merr, dan P3 =3 g/kg BK Coleus amboinicus L. +3 g/kg BK Sauropus androgynus L. Merr. Peubah yang diamati adalah konsumsi ransum (bahan kering, protein kasar, lemak kasar, serat kasar, Ca dan P), produksi susu dan kualitas susu (bahan kering, bahan kering tanpa lemak, lemak, protein, casein dan berat jenis). Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA, jika berbeda nyata antar perlakuan dilakukan uji lanjut berganda Duncan. Perlakuan pemberian Coleus amboinicus L. dan Sauropus androgynus L. Merr tidak memengaruhi konsumsi bahan kering (BK) pakan, protein kasar (PK), lemak kasar (LK), serat kasar (SK), Ca dan P (P0,05). Perlakuan Coleus amboinicus L. dan Sauropus androgynus L. Merr dapat meningkatkan produksi susu (P0,05), namun tidak memengaruhi kualitas susu (bahan kering, bahan kering tanpa lemak, lemak, protein dan casein) (P0.05) dan sangat nyata memengaruhi berat jenis (BJ) susu kambing Peranakan Etawah (P0,01). Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian Coleus amboinicus L. dan Sauropus androgynus L. Merr dapat meningkatkan produksi susu, tetapi tidak memengaruhi konsumsi ransum dan kualitas susu. (Increased production of Etawah cross-breed goat milk by giving Coleus amboinicus Lour and Sauropus androgynus L. Merr) ABSTRACT. This study intended to determine the effect of Coleus amboinicus L. and Sauropus androgynus L. Mers on Etawah crossbreed goat milk production. Sixteen lactating Etawah crossbred goats were used in the 4 x 4 randomized block experiment consisted of four treatments, P0 = 30% concentrate + 70% forage, P1 = P0 + 6 g/kg Coleus amboinicus L., P2 = P0 + 6 g/kg Sauropus androgynus L. Merr and P3 = 3 g/kg Coleus amboinicus L. + 3 g/kg Sauropus androgynus L. Merr on dry matter basis. The variables measured were consumption (dry matter, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, Ca and P), milk production and milk quality (dry matter, milk solid non fat, protein, specific gravity). Data were analyzed by ANOVA, if there were differences between treatments, Duncan's multiple-test was carried out. The result showed that, the addition of Coleus amboinicus L. and Sauropus androgynus L. Merr in ration did not affect dry matter consumption, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, Ca and P (P0.05). Coleus amboinicus L and Sauropus androgynus L. Merr significantly increased milk production (P0.05), and highly affected specific gravity of Etawah crossbreed goat milk (P 0.01), but did not affect milk quality (dry matter, dry ingredients non fat, protein fat and casein) (P0.05). It could be concluded that the addition of Coleus amboinicus L. and Sauropus androgynus L. Merr increased milk production, but did not affect consumption and milk quality.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the organoleptic quality of duck egg sausage with the addition of carrots (Daucus carota L.). The study was conducted at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Jambi University on November 24 to December 23, 2025. The design used was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 5 treatments and 30 semi-trained panelists as a group. The treatment consisted of a ratio of 100% duck eggs with the addition of carrots successively at 25% (P1), 35% (P2), 45% (P3), 55% (P4), and 65% (P5). The parameters observed included color, aroma, texture, and taste using a hedonic scale of 1–5. Data were analyzed using One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed that the addition of carrots at various treatment levels did not provide significant differences (P>0.05) on the color, aroma, texture, and taste of duck egg sausage. This study concluded that the addition of carrots up to 65% showed the same organoleptic quality of duck egg sausage based on panelist assessments.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding various concentrations of carrots (Daucus carota L.) on the physical quality of duck egg sausages including water content, cooking loss, and pH. The study was conducted at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Jambi University on November 24–28, 2025. The research method used was an experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments given were the addition of carrots as much as 25% (P1), 35% (P2), 45% (P3), 55% (P4), and 65% (P5) with the use of sago flour of 10% in each treatment. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's test if  there  were  significant differences. The results of  the  analysis  of  variance showed  that  the  addition of  various concentrations of carrots had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the water content and cooking loss of duck egg sausages, but had a significant effect (P<0.01) on the pH value. The water content ranged from 61.44–65.54% and cooking loss between 3.09–8.05%. Treatment P3 produced the lowest cooking loss (3.09%) with the lowest water content (64.45%) and pH (7.13). Based on the results of the parameters, treatment P3 (45% carrot addition) produced good physical quality and showed significantly lower results compared to the other treatments.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of youth interest in beef cattle farming and to analyze the relationship between socio-economic characteristics and youth interest in beef cattle farming in Kayu Aro District, Kerinci Regency. The research was conducted from April to May 2025 using a survey method. The respondents consisted of 38 young beef cattle farmers aged 16–30 years, selected through a census approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively using a Likert scale and inferentially using the Pearson Chi-Square test.The results showed that the level of youth interest in beef cattle farming was categorized as high, with an average score of 72.36%. The indicators of pleasure, attention, awareness, and willingness obtained scores of 71.57%, 72.76%, 70.39%, and 74.73%, respectively. The Pearson Chi-Square analysis indicated that education level (p = 0.049) and farming experience (p = 0.024) had significant relationships with youth interest in beef cattle farming, whereas livestock ownership (p = 0.432) showed no significant relationship. Education and farming experience were identified as important factors in enhancing youth participation in beef cattle farming.Keywords: youth interest; beef cattle farming; education; farming experience.
