Abstract

Islam melalui sumbernya utama Al-Qur’an sangat menghargai seni. Al-Qur’an menuntun manusia mengenal Allah mengajak untuk memandang keseluruhan jagad raya yang diciptakan-Nya dengan serasi dan indah. Menikmati keindahan jagad raya ini, kita bisa membuktikan bahwa Allah sangat mencintai keindahan, menciptakan alam raya ini dengan indah tanpa kurang apapun. Ini lah bukti kebesaran Allah yang patut kita rasakan dan kita nikmati. Seni yang islami adalah seni yang menggambarkan wujud dengan bahasa yang indah serta sesuai dengan fitrah. Seni Islam adalah ekspresi tentang keindahan wujud dari sisi pandangan Islam tentang alam, hidup dan manusia yang mengantar menuju pertemuan sempurna antara kebenaran dan keindahan. Keindahan adalah salah satu sebab tumbuh dan kokohnya keimanan, sehingga keindahan itu menjadi sarana mencapai kebahagiaan dalam kehidupan.

Abstract

In the modern era, a few people think that Islam cannot provide answers to the problems faced by humans. Therefore, a renewal is needed to restore the values of the universality of Islam to build Islamic civilization as in the previous century. The purpose of this study is to describe Nurcholish Madjid's view of Islam and the challenges of modernity. This study uses a qualitative method, while the data used is sourced from a literature review, in this case examining the works written by Nurcholish Madjid and the works of others who examine the thoughts of Nurcholish Madjid. This study concludes that according to Nurcholish Madjid the Islamic world currently needs reforms so that Islam can answer all the problems faced by Muslims themselves, or protect themselves from outside influences which are increasingly complex and require effective solutions. This research also identifies that the solution offered by Nurcholish is to break away from stagnation, and develop an Islamic spirit in this modern era.AbstrakPada era modern, Islam dinilai oleh segelintir orang tidak dapat memberikan jawaban yang sesuai terhadap permasalahan yang ada. Hal itu menimbulkan masalah-masalah baru yang membutuhkan pembaharuan untuk mengembalikan nilai-nilai keuniversalitas Islam guna menumbuhkan peradaban Islam sebagaimana pada abad-abad sebelumnya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan pandangan Nurcholish Madjid terhadap Islam dan tantangan modernitas. Pendekatan metode yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif, adapun  data yang digunakan bersumber dari telaah kepustakaan berupa karya-karya yang ditulis sendiri oleh Nurcholish Madjid dan karya-karya orang lain terhadap karya dan pemikiran Nurcholish Madjid. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa menurut Nurcholish Madjid dunia Islam saat ini membutuhkan pembaruan-pembaharuan untuk menjawab semua persoalan yang ditimbulkan oleh umat Islam sendiri, atau oleh pengaruh-pengaruh dari luar yang semakin lama semakin kompleks dan membutuhkan solusi yang up to date, solusi yang ditawarkan oleh Nurcholish ialah dengan melepaskan diri dari kejumudan, dan menumbuhkan semangat keislamanan di era modern ini.

Abstract

The article is based on a research report (field research) which aims to examine the understanding, efforts and influence of wirid yasin practice on women's spiritual awareness in Sawang District, South Aceh Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach, data collected through documentation, observation, and interviews. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and supported by interpretation and triangulation of data. This study concludes that women in Sawang Subdistrict recognize wirid yasin as a tradition to improve the quality of their faith, religious knowledge, brotherhood and blessings. The revitalization of wirid yasin is carried out not only by establishing educational programs and teaching religious knowledge, but also by improving the quality of wirid yasin practice. This practice has succeeded in increasing spiritual awareness among women, in terms of increasing their piety, obedience to worship, muraqabah and gratitude to Allah in living their daily lives.

Abstract

This research aims to observe the roles women in coastal Aceh play in bolstering family income and their own efforts to support children's education. This research was conducted in the field using a qualitative descriptive methodology. This research set out to learn how hard women in Keude Unga, Cebrek, and Gampong Meunasah Tuha work to improve their households' financial situations and reduce poverty in their communities. Participant observation, in-depth interviews with targeted informants, and document analysis were the three phases of the data collection procedure. The study's findings show that women from Aceh have a robust work ethic when it comes to supporting children's education. There is a multitude of activities within the public realm that serve as evidence of this strong commitment to labour. The contemporary understanding of work ethic necessitates an examination of the historical presence and circumstances of women. The manifestation of women's work ethic may be observed in the coastal communities of Keude Unga, Meunasah Tuha, and Cebrek, where the entire population faces the arduous task of improving their socioeconomic status and providing for their families.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the epistemological debate between Al-Ghazali and Ibn Rushd concerning the concept of the eternity of the world within Islamic philosophy, highlighting the relevance and depth of their thoughts in contemporary Islamic intellectual discourse. Al-Ghazali, through his work "Tahafut Al-Falasifah," critiques the philosophical view that deems the universe as eternal (qadim), emphasizing the importance of revelation and spiritual experience as valid sources of knowledge. Conversely, Ibn Rushd, in "Tahafut Al-Tahafut," defends Aristotle's view on the eternity of the world, illustrating the significance of logic and rationality in understanding the relationship between God, the universe, and humanity. Employing philosophical and historical approaches, this study investigates the methodological differences, arguments, and epistemological conclusions drawn by both thinkers. The findings demonstrate that the dialogue between philosophy and theology in Islam not only enriches the Islamic intellectual tradition but also offers new perspectives in understanding contemporary religious and philosophical issues. This study affirms the significant contributions of Al-Ghazali and Ibn Rushd to advancing Islamic thought, highlighting the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in resolving philosophical and theological dilemmas.AbstrakKajian ini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan tentang perdebatan epistemologis antara Al-Ghazali dan Ibnu Rusyd mengenai konsep kekekalan alam dalam filsafat Islam, menyoroti relevansi dan kedalaman pemikiran keduanya dalam diskursus intelektual Islam kontemporer. Al-Ghazali, melalui karyanya "Tahafut Al-Falasifah," mengkritik pandangan filsuf yang menyatakan alam sebagai qadim (kekal), menekankan pentingnya wahyu dan pengalaman spiritual sebagai sumber pengetahuan yang valid. Sebaliknya, Ibnu Rusyd dalam "Tahafut Al-Tahafut" membela pandangan Aristoteles tentang kekekalan alam, menunjukkan pentingnya logika dan rasionalitas dalam memahami hubungan antara Tuhan, alam, dan manusia. Melalui pendekatan filosofis dan historis, kajian ini mengeksplorasi perbedaan metodologi, argumentasi, dan kesimpulan epistemologis yang dihasilkan oleh kedua pemikir tersebut. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa dialog antara filsafat dan teologi dalam Islam bukan hanya memperkaya tradisi intelektual Islam, tetapi juga memberikan perspektif baru dalam memahami isu-isu keagamaan dan filosofis kontemporer. Kajian ini menegaskan kontribusi signifikan Al-Ghazali dan Ibnu Rusyd dalam memajukan pemikiran Islam, dengan menyoroti pentingnya pendekatan interdisipliner dalam memecahkan dilema-dilema filosofis dan teologis.

Abstract

Dayah Salafiyah in Aceh play a crucial role in preserving Islamic traditions and instilling Sufi values, particularly in the face of modernization and technological advancement. These institutions focus on developing ethical and spiritual resilience among students while addressing challenges posed by contemporary societal changes. This study investigates the methods employed by Dayah BUDI Mesja Lamno, Dayah Darul Munawwarah Kuta Krueng, Dayah MUDI Mesra Samalanga, and Dayah Ruhul Fata Seulimum Aceh Besar to internalize and adapt Sufi values in their educational frameworks. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, direct observations, and curriculum analysis. The study found that dayahs utilize methods such as the study of kitab turath, spiritual retreats (khalwat), daily rituals, and mentorship to foster virtues like humility, patience, and reliance on God. However, challenges persist, including technological distractions, societal pressures, and misconceptions about Sufism. The dayahs address these through strict discipline, critical engagement, and community support. The findings affirm the enduring relevance of Sufi values in navigating modern complexities while maintaining spiritual depth. By integrating traditional teachings with selective adaptation, Dayah Salafiyah provide a balanced model for education.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are instrumental in promoting moderate Islamic teachings and cultivating values of tolerance and peace, serving as critical bulwarks against the spread of radical ideology. The Al-Hidayah Integrated Islamic Boarding School in Aceh Tamiang represents a unique post-radicalization context, having previously faced allegations of disseminating anti-nationalist ideology. This study examines the implementation and internalization of wasathiyah (moderate) Islamic values at Al-Hidayah after its rehabilitation, with a particular focus on the strategies employed and the challenges encountered. Utilizing a qualitative field research design, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with school leaders, teachers, and students, and analysis of institutional documents. The findings demonstrate that wasathiyah values—including moderation, balance, tolerance, consultation, reform, innovation, and nationalism—are systematically integrated into daily activities, the curriculum, extracurricular programs, and public religious study sessions. Teachers function as both primary agents and role models in this internalization process, supported by the use of classical Islamic texts and government-issued materials. However, efforts to entrench wasathiyah values face significant obstacles, notably the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of students, uneven teacher capacity, and diminished government support following the school’s official rehabilitation. This study offers new empirical insight into the complexities of ideological transformation within Islamic educational institutions previously associated with radicalism, highlighting both the progress made and the persistent challenges in sustaining wasathiyah as a foundational ethos.
