Abstract

Abstract

The numeracy literacy gap among coastal children represents a multidimensional structural problem, influenced by the socioeconomic conditions of fishing families, limited access to quality educational facilities, and the scarcity of community-based learning ecosystems. This community service study aims to describe the implementation of the Collaborative Learning House program based on the Service Learning approach and to analyze changes in numeracy literacy skills among elementary school students in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara following the mentoring program. The activity was conducted on November 13, 2025, involving 50 students from grades III to VI in coastal areas. The Service Learning approach comprised five systematic phases: Preparation, Action, Reflection, Demonstration, and Celebration. Program evaluation employed Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Evaluation integrated with Bloom's Taxonomy (cognitive C1–C6, affective A1–A5, and psychomotor P1–P5). Results indicated significant improvement across all dimensions: average cognitive ability increased from 37.0% to 70.5% (from Sufficient to Good category), affective dimension improved by an average of 34.8%, and psychomotor dimension showed an average increase of 37.5%. At the Kirkpatrick Reaction Level, participant enthusiasm increased by 35 percentage points, reaching the Excellent category. These findings confirm that a contextual, community-based Service Learning approach is effective in improving numeracy literacy among coastal children. The program also succeeded in building social capital through the establishment of a learning community with eight active volunteers as a sustainability initiative. The implications of these findings affirm the urgency of integrating community approaches into non-formal educational literacy program designs in marginalized areas.

Abstract

This study aims to explore a deep understanding of the internalization of the five principles of pesantren among all stakeholders, especially the students. Another objective is to explore the essence and implementation of Panca Jiwa Pondok from Pesantren which has been initiated by the founders of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 3 in Ngawi, East Java, and non-alumni of Gontor Islamic boarding schools adopt this. This research uses qualitative methods with an ethnomethodological approach. This method focuses on the resources, procedures, and practices that groups or community members use to generate and recognize perceived social realities. This research was conducted at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 3, Ngawi. Data was collected through natural interviews in everyday life involving researchers in the pesantren environment. The data analysis process is carried out descriptively since the first data collection, so as not to wait for excessive data accumulation. This research reveals three main characteristics of Panca Jiwa Pondok: strengthening social piety, strengthening intrapersonal aspects, and spirituality. The process of internalizing "Panca Jiwa Pondok" to students goes through stages: introduction, thinking, imitation, and internalization, as well as interpretation. The findings of this study have important implications for educational institutions, both public and Islamic-based, regarding the implementation and strengthening of the five principles of Pesantren in teaching and learning activities. This is expected to help students understand the essence of learning in order to grow into individuals with strong character as learners.

The research uses a descriptive approach with interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that the main supporting factors include adequate facilities, active participation of managers, and community awareness of the importance of reading. Inhibiting factors include limited time, access to technology, and minimal promotion. Strategies for improvement include increasing socialization through social media, brochures, and direct outreach, adjusting activity schedules, and developing relevant programs, such as writing workshops and book discussions.
