Abstract

This study aims to generate an effective way of guiding the practice of Professional Capabilities Stabilization (Pemantapan Kemampuan Profesional/PKP) and is used to enhance the ability of S1 PGSD-UT student in the learning improvement. Through lesson study in PKP considered important, because theoretically, provide a way for teachers to improve learning systematically (Podhorsky, C., & Fisher, D., 2007). As the program estuary of S1 PGSD-UT program, this program is the culmination of a course that has been followed earlier by S1 students PGSD. Through PKP, students are expected to have better professional skills in applying the principles of action research (PTK) to find, analyze, and formulate learning problems encountered. The study was conducted with a participatory or emancipatory paradigm approach as set out basic concepts of participatory action reseach (McTaggart, R., 1991, Carr and Kemmis, 1990, Connole, 1993). The study was conducted in 2014 with 34 students S1 PGSD-UT as a sample. The research method using observation, learning journals, interviews, and documentaries. Results showed that the lesson study as a model for professional development of educators through collaborative learning and continuous assessment based on the principles of collegiality and mutual learning to build a learning community. Lesson study selected and implemented the guidance PKP be an effective way to improve the quality of learning and teaching in the classroom. The development of lesson study conducted and based on the "sharing" knowledge based on practice and teacher learning outcomes. Stages lesson study on mentoring PKP include six, namely: (1) forming a group lesson study, (2) determine the focus of the study, (3) plan research lesson, (4) the implementation and observation of learning, (5) to discuss and analyze the results of observation, and (6) of reflection. Guidance PKP with lesson study produced five phases, namely a phase in service training, Generic Classroom Action Research (CAR practices), studying ICT, report preparation and presentation of reports PKP. Through lesson study under the guidance of PKP increased teacher competence, quality improvement processes and learning outcomes, development of democratic learning paradigm based on constructivism to develop scientific thinking. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan suatu cara yang efektif dalam pembimbingan praktik Pemantapan Kemampuan Profesional (PKP) dan digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa S1 PGSD-UT dalam perbaikan pembelajaran. Melalui lesson study dalam PKP dianggap penting, karena secara teoretis, menyediakan suatu cara bagi guru untuk dapat memperbaiki pembelajaran secara sistematis (Podhorsky, C., & Fisher, D., 2007). Sebagai program muara dari program S1 PGSD-UT, program ini merupakan puncak dari mata kuliah yang telah di ikuti sebelumnya oleh mahasiswa S1 PGSD. Melalui PKP, mahasiswa diharapkan akan memiliki kemampuan profesional yang lebih baik dalam menerapkan prinsip-prinsip Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) untuk menemukan, menganalisis, dan merumuskan masalah pembelajaran yang dihadapi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan paradigma participatory atau emancipatory sebagai konsep dasar yang berangkat dari participatory action reseach (McTaggart, R., 1991, Carr and Kemmis, 1990, Connole, 1993). Penelitian dilakukan pada tahun 2014 dengan 34 mahasiswa S1 PGSD-UT sebagai sampel. Metode penelitian menggunakan teknik observasi, jurnal belajar, wawancara, dan dokumenter. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa lesson study sebagai model pembinaan profesi pendidik melalui pengkajian pembelajaran kolaboratif dan berkelanjutan berlandaskan prinsip-prinsip kolegalitas dan mutual learning untuk membangun komunitas belajar. Lesson study dipilih dan diimplementasikan pada bimbingan PKP menjadi cara efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas belajar dan mengajar di kelas. Pengembangan lesson study dilakukan dan didasarkan pada hasil “sharing” pengetahuan yang berlandaskan pada praktek dan hasil pembelajaran guru. Tahapan lesson study pada pembimbingan PKP mencakup enam, yaitu: (1) membentuk group lesson study, (2) menentukan fokus kajian, (3) merencanakan research lesson, (4) pelaksanaan dan observasi pembelajaran, (5) mendiskusikan dan menganalisis hasil observasi, dan (6) refleksi. Bimbingan PKP dengan lesson studydihasilkan 5 fase, yaitu fase in service training, Generik PTK (praktik PKP), belajar ICT, penyusunan laporan PKP dan Presentasi hasil laporan PKP. Melalui lesson study dalam bimbingan PKP terjadi peningkatan kompetensi guru, peningkatan kualitas proses dan hasil pembelajaran, pengembangan pembelajaran yang demokratis berbasis paradigma konstruktivisme untuk membangun pola pikir ilmiah.

Abstract

This research was conducted to trace the long effects of psychological interventions, which were provided in the previous research in 2004. The psychological interventions were given to the distance learners of Universitas Terbuka (UT) in the previous research experiments in 2004. The psychological treatments had been aimed to enhance self-directed learning abilities to the first year students of Public Administration Study Program of UT, who registered in 2004.The respondents had randomly assigned into three experimental groups and one control group. The learners achievement had been followed to the first semester of 2007 and 2008. Learnersachievement was measured through regular course examinations. The three experimental groups were tested against the control group. The hypothesis was tested using analysis of Variances (ANOVA). The results show that after a 3 to 4 yeras there was a significant difference in students achievement between the experimental groups and the control group (p = 0.027). In summary, this research proves that psychological interventions that are usually used in face-to-face education could effectively be used in distance education context as well. As the findings show that, after a period of time, the interventions significantly increase students awareness of the need to learn that leads to the increase in their self-directed learning abilities and their achievement.

Abstract

This article discusses about distance education in the context of sosiological point of view. The discussion emphasizes on the concepts of social capital and human capital, especially, the role of distance education in contributing social capital and human capital in the society. It is also focuses about the contribution social capital and human capital in the distance education institution in Indonesia, that is the Universitas Terbuka. The discussion shows us that distance education institution has the role in improving the human capital that, then, force in increasing the social capital between the human who are involved in the society social network.

Abstract

For a long time, teaching and learning in a formal higher education is always means the meeting of teacher and learners in the classroom. The rapid changes in technology shift the paradigm of teaching and learning. The emerging in the use of the Internet changes the teaching and learning activities. Teaching and learning not only happends in the real classroom, but also in the virtual classroom where teacher and and learners separate physically. E-learning becomes a popular tool as an interactive tool for virtual education. However, the use and the implementation of e-learning in formal education are not as simple as it says. Since, changing paradigm of teaching and learning is a complicated process which involved many parties. The article discusses how e-learning changes the teaching and learning in a formal higher education in Indonesia. The article also discuss the prior experience of Universitas Terbuka, as a distance education institution in Indonesia, in implementing the teaching and learning through the Internet

Abstract

The role of a highly credible academic lecturers or charismatic figures at a public lecture in a university are expected to affect behavior changes of the freshmen in understanding the core of the courses.. However, the public lecture has many obstacles if it would be implemented in distance education, because they are the limited number of charismatic figures, and the time constraints of the charismatic figures. With the development of information and communication technology (ICT), the public lecture presentation can be conducted through the use of ICT. In this way, the number of the target recipients become very large and can be spreaded out in many areas at once than if occurs in the face to face meetings. This study aims to: (1) develop a learning media prototype of a lecture-based ubiquitous learning (u-learning) or multi studio-based learning. The media is expected to show enlightenment from the charismatic figures that allow asynchronous learning, (2) empirically evaluate the validity and effectiveness of the use of the substance based learning media model u-learning. In accordance with the purpose of the study, the results of this research produce: (1) a learning media prototype containing lecture-based u-learning; (2) quantitative results of testing on the new student orientation activities (Orientasi Studi Mahasiswa Baru = OSMB) in the distance education regional office in Bandung (UPBJJ Bandung) which shows that all students responded positively. About the quality of media performance, 71.13% of the students commened good, while the students who answered good for the layout of the media are 68.25%, and the students who answered good for the systematics of public lectures are 70.38%, (3) results of qualitative data showed that the public lecture media is useful and accepted by the new students but not by the students of the last semester. In addition, the availability of electrical appliances and other technical equipment it should be considered if we would like to use this kind of media in remote areas. The prototype media or product generated from this study is expected to be used by various higher education institutions that require the content of the product, and can become an example for the development of a variety of enlightenment lecture materials. Peran tokoh akademisi berkredibilitas tinggi atau berkarisma dalam memberi pencerahan akademis pada suatu kuliah umum di perguruan tinggi diharapkan dapat mempengaruhi perubahan perilaku mahasiswa baru untuk memahami inti perkuliahan. Namun demikian, kuliah umum mengalami banyak kendala jika dilakukan pada pendidikan jarak jauh , karena keterbatasan jumlah tokoh keteladanan, dan keterbatasan waktu dari tokoh tersebut.Dengan perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK), kuliah umum dapat dilakukan melalui pemanfaatan TIK. Melalui cara ini, maka jumlah penerima materi atau sasaran target menjadi sangat besar dan dapat dilakukan di berbagai daerah sekaligus dibandingkan jika dengan pertemuan tatap muka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengembangkan prototipe media pembelajaran untuk kuliah umum berbasis ubiquitous learning (u-learning) atau multi studio-based learning. Media tersebut diharapkan dapat menampilkan pencerahan dari para tokoh yang memungkinkan terjadinya asynchronous learning; (2) melakukan evaluasi secara empirik validitas substansi dan efektivitas pemanfaatan model media pembelajaran berbasis u-learning. Sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian, maka hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) prototipe media media pembelajaran berisi kuliah umum berbasis u-learning, (2) secara kuantitatif, hasil uji coba pada kegiatan orientasi belajar mahasiswa baru (OSMB) di UPBJJ Bandung menunjukkan semua respon mahasiswa menanggapi secara positif. Untuk kualitas tampilan media, 71,13% mahasiswa menjawab bagus; sedangkan mahasiswa yang menjawab bagus sebesar 68,25% untuk tata letak media; dan mahasiswa menjawab sistematika materi kuliah umum termasuk bagus sebesar 70,38%; (3) secara kualitatif, hasil uji coba menunjukkan bahwa media kuliah umum ini bermanfaat dan dapat diterima oleh mahasiswa baru tetapi tidak oleh mahasiswa semester akhir. Pemanfaatan media di daerah terpencil juga perlu memperhatikan tentang ketersediaan peralatan listrik dan peralatan teknis lainnya. Prototipe media atau produk yang dihasilkan pada penelitian ini diharapkan akan dapat digunakan oleh berbagai instansi pendidikan tinggi yang membutuhkan, dan dapat dijadikan prototipe/contoh untuk pengembangan berbagai materi pencerahan lainnya.

Abstract

Online tutorial service was a learning support services provided by the Universitas Terbuka (UT) for its students. In the distance education system, the learning process could be done through the internet. Research on online tutorial learning and services has been done by UT lecturers. This article aimed to map research related to UT's online tutorials, both in the form of research reports and those that have been published in journals. The purpose of mapping was to find out what research topics regarding online tutorials that have been conducted. The research method used was the meta-analysis method, combining various analyzes which then produced a global analysis of online tutorials. The results of this study were online tutorial research could be categorized into five topics, namely a) the relationship between online tutorial values ​​and final exam scores; b) organizing online tutorials; c) the quality of online tutorials; d) online tutorial accessibility; and e) online tutorials as a research tool. Students rated the implementation of online tutorials as good and they were satisfied. The value of online tutorials could contribute to the value of final exam scores. However, the accessibility of online tutorials was still low because it depended on the network and students’ discipline and activeness. Layanan tutorial online merupakan layanan bantuan belajar yang diberikan Universitas Terbuka (UT) untuk para mahasiswanya. Dalam sistem pendidikan jarak jauh proses pembelajaran dapat dilakukan melalui jaringan internet. Penelitian tentang layanan dan pembelajaran tutorial online sudah banyak dilakukan oleh dosen UT. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memetakan penelitian yang berhubungan dengan tutorial online UT, baik dalam bentuk laporan penelitian maupun yang sudah dipublikasikan di jurnal. Tujuan pemetaan adalah untuk mengetahui apa saja topik penelitian mengenai tutorial online yang sudah dilakukan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode meta analisis, menggabungkan berbagai analisis yang kemudian menghasilkan analisis global mengenai tutorial online. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah penelitian tutorial online dapat dikategorikan menjadi lima topik, yaitu: a) Hubungan nilai tutorial online dengan nilai UAS; b) Penyelenggaraan tutorial online; c) Kualitas tutorial online; d) Aksesibilitas tutorial online; dan e) Tutorial online sebagai sarana atau alat penelitian. Mahasiswa menilai penyelenggaraan tutorial online sudah baik dan mahasiswa merasa puas. Nilai tutorial online dapat berkontribusi terhadap nilai UAS. Namun aksesibilitas tutorial online masih rendah karena bergantung kepada jaringan serta kedisiplinan dan keaktifan mahasiswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze influence leadership on employee job satisfaction, the effect of workload on employee job satisfaction, the influence leadership on employee organizational commitment, the effect of workload on employee organizational commitment and the effect of job satisfaction on organizational commitment of Bappeda and Litbang office employees, Bulungan Regency.The population in this study were all employees at the Department of Bappeda and R & D, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan, totaling 38 employees and the sample of this study was 38 employees. The analytical technique used in this research is path analysis with the help of SmartPLS software.The results showed that the leadership variable had a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction at the Department of Bappeda and Litbang, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan. The workload variable has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction at the Bappeda and Litbang Office of Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan. The leadership variable has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment in the Bappeda and Litbang Office of Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan. The workload variable has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment in the Bappeda and Litbang Office of Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan. The job satisfaction variable does not have a significant effect on organizational commitment at the Bappeda and Litbang Office of Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan.
