Abstract

Gender equality is the most important thing to prevent discrimination in the community. One way to achieve gender equality is by providing access to women to influence political policy, such as participating in politics, becoming legislative candidates. The low percentage of women legislatures, especially in Aceh shows that women are still not actively participating in politics. The cause factor is low motivation. This study aims to see the motivation of legislative candidates in terms of sex. The result of the research shows that there is a difference of motivation between male and female legislative candidates. The motivation of male candidates is more dominated by need for power which is a need to influence and control others. In contrast to female legislative candidates who are more dominated by need for affiliation which is a need to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships with others.

Abstract

The existence of women in politics is needed as a representation of women's voices to influence political policy. There are several factors that influence the presence of women in the political world such as participation in party activities, ideology of the party chosen, social support, educational background and political experience. It requires strong determination to compete in political participation. One psychological theory that discusses self-determination is the theory of self-determination. There are three parts in the theory of self-determination, namely the need for competence, interrelation and autonomy. Based on this explanation, this study aims to see a picture of self-determination in Aceh women in the political world. The study uses qualitative methods with purposive sampling technique. The sample of the study was a female councilor in the DPRK. Data collection is done by interview and observation. The results showed that all three parts of the theory of self-determination were found in women councilors in the DPRK Banda Aceh City and Aceh Besar District. Self-determination is an internal factor that makes female legislators able to survive and adapt well in the political world. There are also supporting external factors such as family factors, which are dominantly active in the political world.

Abstract

Ada tiga jenis need yang mempengaruhi tingkah laku individu yaitu need for power, need for affiliation dan need for achievement.

Abstract

Early adulthood will experience stress, insecurity, worry, and social pressure regarding life goals, including students, which is called a quarter-life crisis. One factor that affects the quarter-life crisis is hope. This study aims to analyze the relationship of hope with the quarter-life crisis in early adulthood. This study uses a quantitative approach. The measuring instrument in this study uses a quarter-life crisis scale based on Robbins and Wilner's theory and a hope scale based on Snyder's theory. The sample amounted to 330 early adult students. Sampling using non-probability sampling method with purposive sampling technique. The hypothesis of this study was tested using Pearson's product-moment correlation. The study results showed a correlation coefficient (rxy = -0.249) with p = 0.000 (p ˂ 0.05), namely there is a very significant negative relationship between hope and quarter-life crisis in early adulthood, so the hypothesis is accepted. The higher the level of hope in individuals, the lower the level of quarter-life crisis experienced, and vice versa, the lower the hope, the higher the quarter-life crisis experienced by individuals.

Abstract

The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami caused catastrophic damage in Aceh-Indonesia, leaving profound psychological impacts on survivors. This study examines the long-term role of problem-focused coping in predicting post-traumatic growth (PTG) among 145 adult survivors who lost close family members. Using the Post-Traumatic Growth Scale and the Problem-Focused Coping Scale, the results show that problem-focused coping significantly predicts PTG, accounting for 52.34% of the variance (p < 0.001). Survivors who employed active, constructive coping strategies displayed greater growth, meaning-making, and personal development nearly two decades after the trauma. These findings underscore the enduring significance of adaptive coping and the importance of incorporating culturally grounded values into post-disaster mental health interventions.
