Abstract

Background: Workload is a critical determinant of nursing performance and healthcare quality, influencing work efficiency, patient safety, and job satisfaction. Despite its importance, evidence regarding these relationships remains inconsistent. This study examined the associations among workload, work efficiency, patient safety, and job satisfaction among nurses Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 136 nurses. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS version 26. Spearman’s rank correlation assessed associations between variables, while the Kruskal–Wallis test compared job satisfaction across workload categories. Ordinal logistic regression identified predictors of job satisfaction. Model diagnostics included assessments of multicollinearity, model fit, pseudo R², and the proportional odds assumption. Results: Workload demonstrated a weak but significant positive association with work efficiency (ρ = 0.290, p < 0.001) and a weak negative association with patient safety (ρ = −0.231, p = 0.007), but was not significantly related to job satisfaction. The Kruskal–Wallis test indicated no significant differences in job satisfaction across workload categories (p = 0.392). Ordinal logistic regression revealed that workload and work efficiency were not significant predictors of job satisfaction (p > 0.05), whereas patient safety was significantly associated with job satisfaction (p < 0.001). The model demonstrated acceptable fit (χ² = 15.452, p = 0.017), modest explanatory power (Nagelkerke R² = 0.182), no multicollinearity (VIF < 5), and satisfied the proportional odds assumption (p = 0.823). Conclusion: Overall, workload is associated with work efficiency and patient safety, although these relationships are weak. Job satisfaction appears to be more closely associated with patient safety than with workload. These findings inform workload management strategies in hospital settings and underscore the importance of strengthening patient safety culture alongside workload regulation.

Abstract

Stress can worsen disease and reduce quality of life in patients with chronic diseases. This is because a chronic illness that is suffered for a long time will disrupt all aspects of life, including financial problems, career, role disorders, and including psychosocial problems. The aim of this community service is to increase the knowledge and abilities of chronic disease sufferers regarding stress management through training activities. The results of a preliminary study through interviews with cadres, residents and community health center officers show that mental health services are not yet optimal, especially for people with chronic illnesses. People, especially those suffering from chronic diseases, do not yet know about stress management techniques and there is no special program from the Community Health Center for health services for patients experiencing psychosocial problems. Health services are only provided to patients with serious mental disorders. The activity method used to overcome the problem is 1) Education through counseling to community groups suffering from chronic diseases and about psychosocial problems such as stress and ways to reduce and overcome it. 2) Training and Demonstration, after being given education through partner counseling, demonstrations of deep breathing and muscle relaxation are given. 3) Evaluation to determine the extent of the program's success and to ensure the sustainability of the program. Evaluation activities will be carried out using instruments to measure the partner's level of knowledge and skills. Activities continued with consolidation with the community health center and village government for the sustainability of the mental health service program, including the psychosocial early detection program. The results of the education were that participants' knowledge about stress management increased by almost 95%, participants were able to carry out deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation techniques independently and stated their attitude that they would apply them at home.

Abstract

Low adherence to antiretroviral (ARV) therapy and inadequate nutritional intake remain persistent challenges among People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in Indonesia, contributing to suboptimal treatment outcomes and reduced quality of life. Mobile health (mHealth), which utilizes mobile devices for health interventions, offers a promising solution by facilitating personalized, accessible, and continuous patient support. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of an Android-based mHealth application, SEHAT+, in improving ARV adherence and nutritional intake among PLHIV at the Bandarharjo Health Center, Semarang. A total of 41 active PLHIV undergoing ARV therapy were recruited from March to May 2025. Descriptive and paired t-test analyses were conducted to compare adherence and intake before and after the intervention. The mean ARV adherence score increased from 62,3 (SD = 10,5) to 84,9 (SD = 8,1), and the nutritional intake score improved from 58,7 (SD = 11,2) to 79,2 (SD = 9,6), both showing statistically significant changes (p < 0,001). SEHAT+ features included medication reminders, dietary logs, multimedia-based nutrition education, and online consultation forums. The findings indicate that mHealth interventions can significantly enhance both medication compliance and nutritional behavior in PLHIV. Community-driven digital tools such as SEHAT+ have the potential to strengthen primary healthcare responses to HIV/AIDS in resource-constrained settings.

Abstract

Compliance with taking medication is very important for pulmonary tuberculosis patients because it can ensure that the tuberculosis infection is controlled and does not spread to other people. Motivational interviewing counseling can help tuberculosis patients increase medication adherence with an empathetic and supportive approach to providing information. Through this technique, counselors can foster the patient's internal motivation to overcome obstacles that arise related to taking medication regularly. This research has gone through an ethical process with No. 000.9/002/KEPKRSUDBTG/1/2025. This type of research is quantitative, a quasi-experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest without control design. The sampling technique in this research used purposive sampling of 30 respondents. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon rank test. The research results show: The patient's level of compliance with taking TB medication before Motivational Interviewing counseling is in the medium category and the low category. The level of patient compliance in taking TB medication after Motivational Interviewing counseling has increased, namely the high category and the medium category. There is an influence of motivational interviewing counseling on medication adherence in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Batang Regional Hospital. There is a significant difference between the results of compliance with taking TB medication before and after counseling motivational interviewing at Batang Regional Hospital.
