Abstract

Management Science has been in existence and evolving for about 3,000 years, spanning three distinct eras: prehistoric, historical, and modern. It's evident that knowledge of management is an integral part of human existence. In this article, we aim to introduce a novel perspective on Management, emphasizing the idea that effective management begins with self-mastery before extending to external management endeavors. The approach taken in this article involves merging established management theories with principles from the Alqur'an, Hadith, and works like "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," "Maximum Achievement," and "Kubik Leadership." Management, in essence, is defined as the art of collaborating with people and utilizing organizational resources to accomplish predefined objectives. In simpler words, it's about employing resources to achieve set goals through effective interactions with people. Islamic teachings emphasize two main purposes for human creation: worshiping the Creator and acting as stewards or natural managers (others management). When fulfilling the role of steward or nature manager, Islamic teachings stress the significance of self-management as a foundation for behavior. This concept is mirrored in the principle of sidiq (fairness), which forms a trust-building self-mirror, ultimately leading to self-growth. The Seven Habits, as presented by Covey, provide guidelines for high effectiveness, emphasizing the importance of personal mastery. Conclusion of this article emphasizing before managing external aspects of one's life and environment through established management theories, it is essential to begin by nurturing oneself. This process involves drawing inspiration from the teachings of the Alqur'an and Hadith, as well as other referenced literature mentioned within this article.

Abstract

Lecturer productivity is a strategic priority for Islamic Higher Education Institutions (IHEIs), which combine academic excellence with Islamic values and community service while often operating under constraints such as limited digital infrastructure, heavy administrative workloads, and dual religious–academic responsibilities. This study examines how organizational commitment and work-life balance influence lecturer productivity in six IHEIs in Jambi Province, with information technology (IT) tested as a moderating factor. Using a quantitative survey of 237 lecturers and analyzing the data with SEM-PLS, the results show that organizational commitment significantly improves lecturer productivity, whereas work-life balance has a positive but statistically insignificant effect. IT demonstrates a strong direct impact on productivity, but it does not moderate the effects of organizational commitment or work-life balance, suggesting that technology operates primarily as a general performance enabler rather than a conditional amplifier of these individual factors. These findings extend evidence on productivity determinants in the under-studied IHEI context and offer practical implications for policy and management, particularly the need to strengthen digital infrastructure, enhance organizational support systems, and align HR practices with the institutional realities of Islamic higher education.

Abstract

This article aims to reveal the time management practices of female students at the State Islamic University who have three roles: first, as students with academic responsibilities on campus; second, as workers or career women; and third, as wives to their husbands and mothers to their children, with the obligation to take care of various household matters. This article uses a qualitative research method with four female students who have these three roles as research subjects. There are two sources of data in this study, namely primary data (interview and observation results) and secondary data (library data from scientific articles, books, etc.). The data collection methods used were observation and interviews. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is the technique popularised by Miles et al., which consists of data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study indicate that not all female students who have three roles have good study time management. This means that these female students have difficulty managing their time, which has an impact on their academic achievement. However, female students who have good time management and are able to develop discipline and have planned and organised learning strategies can improve their academic achievement. In fact, they successfully completed their final studies well and in accordance with the set targets. This study has implications for female students, especially in terms of good time management, by designing, managing, and adapting to various things, so that female students can discipline themselves.
