Abstract

This study investigated the effect of filler content on mechanical properties of polypropylene. There are synthesis clay and un-synthesis clay used as filler content. Different ratio of clay in polypropylene to study which ratio has a better mechanical property. The tensile test was carried out using INSTRON5565 and the maximum stress, strain, and modulus of elasticity observed. The experimental results showed that polypropylene/clay nanocomposite has a higher maximum stress compare to pure polypropylene and un-synthesis clay. Besides that modulus of elasticity of specimen calculated and finds that it increased with increment filler content and strain did not affect by filler. The synthesis clay filled into polypropylene will have a better mechanical property. Keywords: nanocomposite, polypropylene, synthesis clay

Abstract

ABSTRAK Komposit merupakan campuran bahan-bahan yang berbeda atau telah menghasilkan sifat dan karakterisasi yang lebih banyak, tidak dihasilkan pada bahan utama. Resin poliester BQTN 157-EX merupakan bagian dominan (mayor) pada komposit yang berfungsi sebagai matriks dan bentonit merupakan bagian tidak dominan (minor) pada komposit yang berfungsi sebagai filler. Telah dilakukan penelitian pertama terhadap olahan bentonit yang bersumber dari bahan anorganik dan sifat hidrofilik. Pemeriksaan ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat kekuatan tarik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, pada nanokomposit 3,5%, massa bentonit dan ukuran partikel 300 mesh menghasilkan kuat tarik sebesar 197,57 Mpa, elongasi sebesar 24% dan Impact 0,80 Joule. Hal ini lebih baik jika dibandingkan dengan resin virgin polyester yang menghasilkan kekuatan tarik 104,92 Mpa, elongasi 13,32% dan Impact 0,21 Joule.Kata Kunci : Poliester BQTN 157-EX, Komposit, Sifat Mekanik

Abstract

ABSTRACT Gluten is the protein in flour that gives the viscoelastic properties of dough. There are still inadequate understandings of the knowledge concerning gluten during the dough mixing and the unique properties that gluten posses. Gluten production was examined in terms of quantity and quality of gluten. Quantity of gluten was measured in terms of wet and dry gluten content. Wet gluten content was determined by weighing the gluten obtained from the dough washed under running tap water. The wet gluten was dried using air oven drying method to obtain dry gluten content. In terms of quality, the gluten was analysed in terms of volume expansion, extensibility and rheological characterisation. The volume expansion analysis was performed by frying the wet gluten in hot oil at 170oC in deep fryer for 15 minutes. The volume of fried gluten was measured using mustard seed displacement method and the difference between the volume of fried gluten and the volume of wet gluten is measured as volume expansion of gluten.Keywords : Gluten, rheological, wheat

Abstract

ABSTRACT A novel segmented polyurethane/clay nanocomposites has been synthesized by polyurethane based on palm oil and Kunipia-F as organoclay with an ammonium salt of cetyltrimetyl ammonium bromide (CTAB). In this investigation, we give much interest to synthesis of polyurethane/clay based on palm oil as raw materials for polyols to open new era for partial replacement of petrochemical based polyol with palm oil based polyols. Surprising, we got the polyurethane elastomer after along time polyurethane based on palm oil only using in coating applications. However, it is the first report in investigation about polyurethane/clay nanocomposites based on palm oil. Polyurethane/clay nanocomposites were prepared by a pre- polymer method and evaluated by fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction measurements (X-RD) respectively. Abstract

ABSTRAK Minyak nilam komersial diperoleh dengan penyulingan uap daun kering tanaman herba, Pogostemon cablin Benth., milik keluarga Labiatae. Tanaman ini dikenal juga dengan nama P.patchouli Pellet.var. suavis Kait. F. Tanaman ini tumbuh liar di beberapa belahan dunia, namun praktik yang biasa dilakukan adalah membudidayakannya untuk tujuan penyulingan. Tanaman ini dibudidayakan secara luas di Indonesia, Malaysia, Cina dan Brazil untuk diambil minyaknya. Aroma nilam telah dikenal di dunia Timur selama berabad-abad. Pada suatu waktu, memberikan aroma melalui daun kering merupakan hal yang biasa dilakukan. Meskipun hal ini masih berlaku di satu atau dua daerah penghasil nilam untuk aplikasi tertentu, namun di luar negara produksinya, minyak atsiri sulingan uap merupakan media universal. Minyak nilam memiliki profil bau yang sangat kaya yang ditandai dengan hangat, manis, herba, pedas, berkayu, dan balsamic. Harganya relatif murah untuk produk alami dan biasanya tersedia dalam jumlah banyak. Oleh karena itu, minyak nilam sangat banyak digunakan dalam berbagai jenis parfum. Konstituen utama penyumbang bau adalah sekelompok alkohol polisiklik. Yang paling terkenal adalah alkohol nilam, norpatchoulenol, dan nortetrapatchoulol.Kata kunci : minyak nilam, alkohol nilam, norpatchoulenol, dan nortetrapatchoulo

Abstract

Biorang briquettes are solid fuels derived from a mixture of powder and adhesive to form a specific shape according to the desired results through a pressing process. The purpose of this study was to determine the variation in particle size and carbonization temperature of palm shell waste on the results of biorang briquette testing. This study used two independent variables, namely the particle size of palm shell charcoal 10 mesh, 20 mesh, 40 mesh, 60 mesh and 80 mesh and the carbonization temperature of 4000C, 450 0C, 500 0C, 550 0C and 600 0C. The results showed that the higher the temperature and particle size of palm shell charcoal, the lower the water content, ash content and flame duration, while the volatile content increased with increasing temperature and particle size.

Abstract

This study aims to implement an Internet of Things (IoT) system in the coffee bean drying process using a tray dryer to improve efficiency and ease of monitoring. The system is designed using a DHT22 sensor to read temperature and humidity, a MAX6675 sensor to monitor the heater temperature, an HX711 load cell sensor to measure the weight of the coffee beans, and a DS1302 RTC to record the drying time. All data is displayed on an LCD and sent to the Blynk IoT platform for remote monitoring. Testing was conducted with five drying temperature variations, namely 30°C, 35°C, 40°C, 45°C, and 50°C, each for 5 hours. The results showed that a temperature of 50°C produced the best results with a final moisture content of 7.21%, which meets the SNI 01-2907-2008 standard for coffee bean storage, which is a maximum of 12.5%. This IoT-based drying system has proven to be capable of automating the drying process with accurate and efficient monitoring, as well as enabling real-time remote monitoring. Abstract

This study aims to modify lithium-ion battery separators using a combination of polypropylene (PP), polyurethane (PU), and nano chitosan, and to evaluate the effects of varying composition ratios and soaking time on thickness and thermal stability. The separators were fabricated using the casting method with variations in the PP:PU:Nano Chitosan ratio (4:1:5, 4:2:4, 4:3:3, 4:4:2, and 4:5:1) and soaking times of 1–5 days. Characterization included thickness (Digital Thickness Gauge), thermal stability (thermal shrinkage test and TGA), and surface morphology (SEM). The results showed that a 4:3:3 ratio with 3 days of soaking produced the best performance, with a thickness of 23–25 µm, low thermal shrinkage (0.5%–2.1%), degradation onset at 370.10 °C, degradation peak at 429.73 °C, and a dense and uniform morphology with well-distributed pores. This formulation is recommended as a potential separator for lithium-ion battery applications.Keywords: Battery, Lithium-ion, Nano Chitosan, Polypropylene, Polyurethane, Separator
