Abstract

Kegiatan industri di Kalimantan lebih dari 70% merupakan industri pertambangan batu bara. Limbah hasil kegiatan pertambangan dapat menyebabkan pencemaran air yang mengakibatkan turunnya kualitas air akibat kandungan air limbah tambang yang mengandung logam berat terlarut dengan sifat asam yang tinggi. Oleh sebab itu diperlukan adanya pengujian kadar besi pada air limbah tambang sebagai upaya pengendalian pencemaran air agar sesuai dengan baku mutu air limbah pertambangan. Pengambilan contoh sampel uji air limbah berdasarkan SNI 6989.59-2008 yaitu sampel air limbah diambil dari tiga titik lokasi kolam penataan area stockpile pada industri pertambangan batu bara di Kabupaten Sangatta, Kalimantan Timur. Validasi setiap parameter uji dilakukan di Laboratorium Terpadu ITK  dengan pengulangan untuk masing-masing sampel uji sebanyak 7 (tujuh) kali pengulangan. Pada parameter validasi metode analisis untuk uji linearitas pada air limbah diperoleh nilai koefisien korelasi regresi linier (r) sebesar 0,999; batas deteksi dan batas kuantitasi diperoleh sebesar 0,141 mg/L dan 0,470 mg/L. Pada uji presisi sampel uji air limbah tambang A, B dan C didapatkan nilai %RSDr sebesar 1,602%; 0,829% dan 0,782%. Nilai %recovery pada masing-masing air limbah adalah 103,429%, 108,870% dan 95,116%. Hasil pengujian kadar besi (Fe) menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis dengan pengompleks tiosianat (KSCN) pada limbah A, B dan C adalah 0,721 mg/L, 2,786 mg/L dan 4,961 mg/L. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kadar besi sampel air limbah tidak melebihi batas ambang air limbah pertambangan.

Abstract

Students' interest in learning may be enhanced through an attractive learning design. An attractive learning design can improve the quality of student understanding, where improvement can be assessed from the effectiveness of learning. Aspects that can affect the effectiveness of learning are learning curriculum, facilities, and teacher quality. Of the three aspects, the aspect of facilities is often a problem in schools. One example of limited school facilities is the inadequacy of the Natural Sciences Laboratory. Public Junior High School (SMPN) 17 Balikpapan is one of the schools which is constrained in the aspect of facilities where it only has one Science Laboratory so that the practicum is only carried out occasionally. Therefore, community service is carried out at SMPN 17 Balikpapan through the "Introduction to simple applied science to increase interest in science" program in which it is hoped that students' knowledge and interest in science will increase. To increase the knowledge and interest of students in science, a simple hands-on module is implemented. Before doing practicum, students are first given science material in the form of basic theory related to the experiment to be carried out. Evaluation of the activity was carried out by conducting a post-test on students in the class that was the target of the program (VII G) and the comparison class (VII A). The evaluation results showed that class VII G got a higher average score than class VII A, but class VII A got a score ≥ 75 which had a higher percentage. Field findings show that the addition of practical modules in learning methods has a positive impact on students' learning motivation. This simply did not have a significant impact on the team's expected achievement objectives, with only 6.9% achieving a score of 75.

Abstract

The effect of biochar supplementation with different particle size on biogas production in two-stage anaerobic digestion of white bread waste was carried out on a laboratory scale using a 100 mL bioreactor. The supplementation of biochar variations with particle sizes <63 µm, <125 µm, <149 µm, <250 µm, and <500 µm and the addition of different biochar concentration of 5 g/L, 15 g/L, and 25 g/L were investigated to obtain optimal concentrations. Mixed cultures were incubated at 35 °C for 40 days. Daily gas production, pH and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) were measured using the daily water displacement method. The results showed that the particle size of biochar < 500 µm with a biochar concentration of 5 g/L increased biogas production by 60% and resulted in gas accumulation of 4,240.03 mL/L. CH4, It has proven that biochar increased pH in the mixture. COD concentration decreased from 9,670 mg/L to 1,640 mg/L.
