Abstract

Pantiaw is one of the traditional dish made from rice flour served with fish meat grinder and other ingredients. The design of this pantiaw cutting tool uses a press system using a lever. Based on the survey that has been done at the residence of mrs. Yuli, pantiaw produce 8 kg daily. The obstacle faced by yulimother at this time is the process of cutting pantiaw still using scissors or knives sliced one by one. So that takes longer time is 45 minutes to 1 hour. The purpose of making this pantiaw cutting tool is to cut the pantiaw uniformly in a single process, increasing the production capacity and the tool is easy to movearound. The results of the pantiaw cutter test resulted in uniform pieces of pantiaw in one press / process. Capacity 0.5 kg pantiaw processing with 30 seconds.

Abstract

Vehicle Comfortability in a minibus is highly influenced by the noise level and the mechanical vibration on the cabin. Sound and vibration can come from the engine excitation, the pressure difference in both inside and outside of the cabin, the road roughness and the primary vehicle’s structure. The ground, wall and floor of the cabin in a vehicle are the most influenced parts in the role of transmitting sounds and vibrations. These can be reduced by means of increasing the cabin’s stiffness. Sheet metal is mainly used as the cabin’s material. Its stiffness can also be increased by means of thickening, grooving and embossing the plate. The aims of this experimental work are to increase both the natural frequency and the stiffness of the plate by means of forming and grooving in the cabin’s plate. The material used in this paper is mild steel plate 0,8 mm from galvanized steel that is generally used in manufacturing of the minibus vehicle (ASTM A 29 coated with zinc and aluminum). The research method is derived as follows: determining the panel dimension, calculating the number of the groove, designing both the heating temperature and the cooling media, grooving process, measuring and analyzing the natural frequency and the stiffness. The length and the width of the panel dimension are determined by 550 mm and 550 mm, respectively. Trapezium cross-section is used as groove’s design. The results show that the natural frequency and the stiffness are linearly influenced by residual stress. The highest frequency, reached at 258,06 Hz, is to be found at 10 groove with temperature of 700 °C and followed by water cooling. In addition, this frequency is increased nine times compared with plain panel without groove in which it has 27,55 Hz. Keywords: natural frequency, vehicle panel, heat treatment, fixed-end, stiffness

Abstract

In this design, the product we want to make is a die for the M 20 ring because the die we designed is helpful for student learning (practicum) at the Mechanical Technology Laboratory. The ring manufacturing process is carried out using one blanking compound dies. The blanking and piercing processes are carried out in one operation, thus saving time and money. This dies planning includes the process of designing dimensions and other supporting tools using the SolidWorks 2017 application. This design aims to produce blanking compound dies designs on press machines for the M20 ring manufacturing process with little or no defects and estimate the cost of making blanking compound dies. The method of analysis using Solidworks 2017 software includes displacement, von misses stress, safety factor. The results obtained from the 2017 SolidWorks analysis are to estimate the wear life of the punch and die to anticipate product failures. The material used in this ring is SAPH440 as defined in JIS 3113, starting from 2 mm to 14 mm. At the same time, the one we use for the M20 ring has a thickness of 2 mm. Based on the dies design calculations and data analysis that has been carried out, it is concluded that the use of blanking compound dies can reduce product defects due to dimensional accuracy in the dies and accelerate the production process of ring making.

Abstract

Salah satu kualitas yang terbaik dari suatu komponen adalah permukaan yang halus. Proses kerja mesin yang ingin dicapai pada bubut CNC Mori Seiki SL-25 adalah nilai kekasaran permukaan yang minimum, perlu dilakukan penentuan penyetelan yang tepat dari parameter-parameter proses bubut CNC Mori Seiki SL-25 agar diperoleh kekasaran permukaan benda yang minimum. Parameter proses pemesinan yang divariasikan adalah kecepatanNspindle, kedalaman pemakanan, dan kecepatannpemakanan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh kecepatan spindle dan kedalamanNpemakanan terhadap tingkat kekasaran permukaan hasil pemesinan bubut CNC pada baja ST41. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metodeneksperimen, dengan penyetelan parameter untuk mendapat kekasaran permukaan. Baja yang digunakan adalah ST 41, dan data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan anova pada softwarenstatistik. Kesimpulan dari hasilnpenelitian menunjukkan persen kontribusi dari variabel-variabel adalah kecepatan spindle sebesar 27,79%, kedalaman pemakanan sebesar 7,28% dan kecepatan pemakanan sebesar 7,28%. Dari hasil analisa, kombinasi variabel padanprosesnbubut St41 yang dapat menghasilkan nilai respon paling optimal adalah kecepatan spindle sebesar 1526 rpm,. kedalaman pemakanannsebesar 0,6  mm, dan kecepatannpemakanan 0,25 mm/rev.

Abstract

Areca nut peeler machine is a machine that serves to separate the betel nut seeds from the coir. This machine is used by the community to process their agricultural products, and helps small entrepreneurs to produce large production, saving time and labor. Basically, the working principle of the areca nut peeler machine is the separation process between areca nut and areca nut seeds that occurs due to the rotation of the driving motor which is forwarded to the pulley and belt so that it moves the carrier shaft (screw) and the stripping cutting blade. The stripping is done by inserting the betel nut into the storage container. This research focuses on how to design and make a betel nut peeler machine using the basic product/machine design, so that the machine is able to peel betel nut according to the specified target.

Abstract

Old coconut meat is usually used for household needs. Usually used for making coconut milk for combination ingredients for cooking every day by the community. Demand increases with certain needs and moments, approaching Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Based on the results of a field survey to traditional markets located in the Sungailiat area, grated coconut sellers still use coconut grating machines where in the process of grating they still use human hands, even with the help of wood, in 1 hour they can only grate ± 25 coconuts, so the process is finished. slower. At this stage, we conduct a survey and identify problems, determine data needs, data sources will continue with further data collection from observations and research results will be compared to determine product planning to be modified. This design is an illustration before making machine analysis in the form of construction and other components. In designing the machine, it is necessary to know the grating process that will be carried out so that the results used are maximized. In the trial, it was able to grate ± 190 coconuts per hour so that the coconut grater machine looks more optimal in the grating process.

Abstract

Friction welding is one of the metal joining methods, by utilizing the heat generated from the physical contact of two metals in the form of friction that occurs continuously on the two metals to produce a welding joint.  This research aims to find out what phenomena occur in the connection between AISI 1040 and Brass. The materials used are AISI 1040 solid cylinder with a diameter of 16 mm and brass solid cylinder with a diameter of 16 mm. This research uses experimental method. The friction time used is 6 minutes, 7 minutes, and 8 minutes with a variation of pressing distance of 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm with a rotating speed of 1000 rpm. The free heat process of 200 ℃ was carried out on AISI 1040 before the welding process. From the time variation and pressing distance variation that has been carried out in this study, the results obtained from the two materials do not occur. There are several phenomena seen after the welding process such as the occurrence of plastic deformation in brass and the formation of a brass thermoplastic layer attached to the surface of AISI 1040, in the time variation of 6 minutes and 7 minutes the brass thermoplastic attached to AISI 1040 is small and thin, while in the time variation of 8 minutes the brass thermoplastic layer attached to AISI is quite a lot and thick but no connection has occurred. This friction welding method is likely to connect the AISI 1040 material with brass by increasing the friction time performed.

Abstract

A pick-up car is a car that has a tub at the back that is useful for lifting goods. The body or tailgate of the car is designed to use iron plates so that the car is stronger and more durable. Vehicles are greatly affected by noise and vibration levels. The resulting vibrations come from the engine, the floor of the vehicle cabin, and the road that has an effect on the vehicle. Vibration can be reduced by increasing the stiffness. Stiffness can be increased by making grooves in the panels. The purpose of this research is to increase the natural frequency and stiffness of the plates by forming grooves in the plates. The materials used in this study were galvanic plates with plate thicknesses of 0.6 mm and 0.8 mm. The research method is demonstrated as follows: determine the dimensions of the plate, the process of making grooves, measure and analyze the natural frequency and stiffness. The length and width of the plates are 580 mm and 600 mm. The groove used is in the form of a trapezoid by means of a rolling process. The results of the grooved plate experienced a 3-fold increase in frequency compared to the flat plate.

Abstract

The Friction Welding method is a welding method that utilizes heat energy caused by the friction of the two materials to be joined, the heat from the friction will cause the material to become semisolid or plastic. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of variations in friction time and distance suppression carried out on impact strength and hardness tests using the Friction Welding method on AISI 1045 steel material connected to Stainless Steel 304. The method used is the Response Surface Method (RSM) to determine impact strength value of AISI 1045 steel which is connected to Stainless Steel 304 after the friction welding process is carried out. The variation used in this study is the variation of the pressure distance and friction time. The size of the impact test specimen is made according to the impact test standard, namely ASTM E23. The greatest impact test results were found in specimen number 6 with a pressing distance of 4.41 mm and a friction time of 5 minutes, namely 0.156 Joule/mm2. While the lowest impact value is found in specimen number 1 with a pressing distance of 2 mm and a friction time of 4 minutes, namely 0.038 Joule/mm2.

Abstract

The construction of the body of minibus passenger vehicles usually uses walls, roofs and floors called vehicle panels. The vehicle panel itself is the most important part that supports safety and comfort for the occupants of the vehicle. Generally, the vehicle panel will cause a sound that makes passengers uncomfortable because of the noise that occurs due to the vibration of the vehicle engine and damaged road conditions. Excessive vibration can be reduced by increasing the rigidity of the panel by changing the shape such as beads, embossing, stiffeners, spot welded stiffenes, and grooves. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of borehole variation and the number of dimple holes on plate stiffness for its natural frequency response. This research method is shown as follows: making experimental designs, dimple manufacturing processes, measuring and analyzing the results of dimple-shaped plates with variations in boreholes and the number of dimple holes to stiffness for their natural frequency response response. Based on the results, the number of holes on the dimple plate affects the stiffness of the plate to its natural frequency response.
