Abstract

Developing an integrated coconut beef cattle system could be prospective in view of both technical and economical aspects. The present agribusiness of coconut plantation as monoculture, has not met sufficient farmer’s income, because each hectare of land, only produces equivalent to 2,500,000 rupiahs per year. Constraints such as plant disease, fluctuation price of coconut and the large areas of old plants need to be solved seriously. Integrated coconut-cattle system (CCS) in small holding scale region with Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture (LEISA) approach is considered to be economically potential. Additional income is estimated increase 2 – 3 times than traditionally monoculture-based coconut production. About one percent (approximately 30,000 hectare) of total coconut plantation can support 30,000 until 100,000 cattle per year. This will contribute mostly (90%) of the national requirement of meat. Theoritically, when 10% of whole areas of coconut crop is integrated with cattle production, Indonesia could even export the meat. This program of CCS -based on coconut farming can be made posible, when it is supoported by sufficient fund, technology, supervision and condusive policy. Key words: Development, agribusiness, cattle, coconut farm

Abstract

Abstract: System maintenance goats in Indonesia, especially in the District High King of the North Sumatra regency shavings Proopinsi done the traditional way, the availability of quality feed is one of the limiting factors to determine the number of livestock kept by farmers. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the possibilities among supplementary feeding is applied by farmers feed ingredients are easily available at affordable prices, livestock forage planted palm perkebunana dilahan the age of 5 years with extensive 3 ha forage crops forage Brachiaria and Stylosanthes ruziziensis Guianeniserta, as well as waste agriculture, which can increase the rate of goats nuts. Livestock production performance shows R1, R2 and R highly significant (P <0.01) higher than R33, whereas to measure the growth rate of goats nuts (R) which is the regression coefficient Yk = 14:33 +2.02 X (R) which is the regressioncoefficient Yk = 14.34 +1.75 x, and (R32) which regress coefficient Yp = 14.34 + 1.58 y obtained regression equation with the same value of R2 = 0.99, not only petambahan weight are visible on the nut goats in ruziziensis give forage Brachiaria and Stylosanthes guianenis but goats seem nuts over fluffy, slippery, sparkling eyes, smooth and healthy. Gains derived by farmers around R Rp.1.058.602/bulan B/C 1.2,R21 around Rp.984.145/bulan B/C 1.2 due to variable expenses and the cost of production, while approximately R3 Rp.666.268/bulan B/C 1.1 expenditure concentrated on variable costs, labor costs and the purchase of seeds.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The study was conducted in Pabentengang Village, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi 2020.Materials and Methods: The study used a survey method of 25 farmers, using questionnaires and interviews. The research location is agricultural land and the community's main business is agriculture and beef cattle. Primary data and secondary data were analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and economically. The purpose of this paper is to determine the increase in the economic value for farmers through improving beef cattle business. Results: The results showed that the profit of farmers by "paro" or profit sharing was IDR. 4,262,500/farmer/year, and the R/C value was 1.3. The profit of farmers from fattening is IDR. 9,847,000/farmer/period with an R/C value of 1.2. The profit of farmers by producing calves through AI with Limousin semen is IDR. 7,250,000/farmer/year, the R/C value is 1.9. Government support and policies are needed regarding economic feasibility for the welfare of farmers, so that the sustainability of the beef cattle business can be maintained. The strategies that need to be implemented are not only related to the technical aspects of animal husbandry, but also the institutional and communication aspects that are needed in a mutually sustainable manner. Conclusion: Beef cattle business by paro or with profit sharing, producing calves through AI and fattening, is economically feasible to be re-cultivated.
