Abstract

Beside technology-based startups are not many enough in Indonesia, they must have faced problems that make them hard to grow. Not many of them can sustain for a long time. UAVINDO Nusantara is an exception. The company that concern in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology was founded in 2000 and can survive till now. It passed three periods (building trust, crisis, and rising up) before commits to be a solution provider company in aeronotics that concern in military market. Its change capability of organizational management, its innovation culture, and ability to become trusted company are characteristics for the company to become sustainable. Three factors that shape it like that ; leadership of its manager (director), learning culture inside the company, and ability to maintain its network. Keywords: UAVINDO Nusantara, technology-based startup, Indonesian company, sustainable company.

Abstract

Technology commercialization in universities which consists of three phases, namely basic research, commercialization feasibility, and commercialization runs non-linearly and goes through licensing and spin-off creation. To achieve commercialization success, there are eight influencing factors, namely academic entrepreneur, role of technology, availability of market, availability of finance, intermediaries' support (i.e. University Technology Transfer Office (UTTO), university's incubator, and proof of concept center), role of collaborative research center, policy support, and regional infrastructure and environment. Meanwhile, the existing management theories that discuss the commercialization of technology in universities mostly use a resource perspective such as Resource-Based View (RBV), resource orchestration theory, and dynamic capabilities with university and spin-offs as unit of analysis. This literature study provides several recommendations for future studies. First, it needs to expand the analysis not limited to licensing and spin-off, and second, it is suggested to develop a resource perspective by enriching what dimensions influence the success of a technology commercialization in universities or provide alternative new management theories in understanding technology commercialization in university.

Abstract

Waste reactors can help overcome waste problems in cities, including the city of Bandung. The hydrothermal reactor is one of various types of reactors that we design to convert organic waste into useful products that have a selling value comparable to fertilizer and animal feed. The people of Cangkuang Kulon sub-district, Bandung Regency, which is directly adjacent to the Cibaduyut shoe center area, Bandung City, will test the manufacture and use of this reactor. We hope that this community service effort can solve the waste problem in cities, especially in the city of Bandung.

Abstract

Universities that initially carried out teaching and research missions are now carrying out a new entrepreneurial mission, which shifted to commercially oriented activities. This research proposes a theoretical framework for commercialization strategy in three leading Indonesian universities; Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB University). Using an abductive approach, the findings show that the Indonesian universities can adopt both technology push and market push in commercializing their research outputs. Each of these strategy adoptions has implications for subsequent commercialization mechanisms, such as by simply optimizing the role of TTOs and incubators or by optimizing holding companies and Science and Technoparks (STPs) by establishing closeness to industry. Abstract

AbstrakCV XYZ merupakan salah satu industri kecil dan menengah (IKM) yang bergerak di sektor alas kaki berbahan kulit.Saat ini, proses bisnis di CV XYZ masih dilakukan secara manual, seperti pencatatan stok, penggajian, dan pelaporankeuangan, yang menyebabkan inefisiensi, risiko kesalahan, dan kurangnya integrasi antarbagian. Penelitian inibertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memodelkan proses bisnis pada CV XYZ menggunakan Business Process Modeland Notation (BPMN) sebagai langkah menuju kesiapan digitalisasi Industri 4.0. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatankualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studipustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses bisnis eksisting (as-is model) di CV XYZ masih memiliki banyakkelemahan, seperti ketergantungan pada sistem manual, kurangnya integrasi data antarbagian, dan ketidakefisienanoperasional. Rancangan proses bisnis rekomendasi (to-be model) menggunakan BPMN menghasilkan model baruberbasis database terpusat, yang mendukung digitalisasi pada proses penjualan, produksi, dan pengadaan bahan baku.Implementasi to-be model ini tidak hanya meningkatkan efisiensi operasional dan akurasi data, tetapi juga kesiapandigitalisasi perusahaan berdasarkan framework INDI 4.0. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi industrikecil dan menengah (IKM) lainnya dalam menghadapi transformasi digital di era Industri 4.0. Abstract

The current commercialization business model in universities emphasizes the role of the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) with its main activities in licensing and incubators with university spin-off incubation activities. Few studies have highlighted a business model in the form of a university profit-oriented company that focuses specifically on accommodating technology commercialization activities, especially in the Indonesian context. This study constructed technology commercialization business models from PT Rekacipta Inovasi, Institut Teknologi Bandung (PT RII). We conducted interviews with eight informants who are company’s management and staff, university’s management, and technology inventors. Using abductive approach, we found that business models for university technology commercialization are not only includes licensing practices and establishment of spin-off companies that focus on the Business to Business (B to B) market, but also joint venture and joint operation practices and direct selling with the Business to Costumer (B to C) market. Through this business model, universities can direct the commercialization practice of research results towards business practices that can generate revenue. This research provided a novel commercialization model for developing countries context which can be a reference for universities in carrying out their technology commercialization activities.

Abstract

Sampah organik masih menjadi permasalahan utama di kawasan perkotaan maupun semi-urban. Salah satu pendekatan teknis yang dapat digunakan adalah pemanfaatan reaktor sampah untuk mengolah limbah organik menjadi produk bernilai guna, seperti pakan ternak dan pupuk. Namun, keberhasilan implementasi teknologi tersebut sangat ditentukan oleh keterlibatan aktif masyarakat dalam sistem pengelolaan sampah. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melakukan sosialisasi lanjutan mengenai reaktor sampah kepada warga Kelurahan Cangkuang Kulon, sekaligus meluncurkan website reaktorsampah.com sebagai sarana informasi, branding, dan edukasi digital. Metode kegiatan mencakup penyuluhan, demonstrasi penggunaan reaktor, penjelasan website, serta diskusi kelompok terarah (FGD) untuk menggali ide sistem setoran sampah organik dari warga. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya antusiasme tinggi dari masyarakat dan dukungan dari tokoh lokal, yang ditandai dengan munculnya inisiatif pembentukan mekanisme setoran sampah berbasis komunitas. Keberadaan website juga mendapat respon positif karena memperluas akses informasi dan meningkatkan kredibilitas program. Dengan demikian, sosialisasi lanjutan ini tidak hanya meningkatkan pemahaman warga mengenai manfaat reaktor sampah, tetapi juga membuka peluang pembentukan ekosistem partisipatif dalam pengelolaan sampah organik yang berkelanjutan.
