Abstract

East Teba Village has limited water availability due to the relatively long duration of the dry season, so the villagers use rainwater puddles for various activities, including consumption (source of drinking water) for livestock. This study aims to determine the quality of water in puddles of rainwater for consumption (source of drinking water) livestock. This research is quantitative descriptive. The sampling point of the test is the point where livestock drink water. Sampling test based on SNI 6989.57:2008 regarding the method of sampling surface water. The test result data is compared with the quality standard and the quality status is calculated using the pollution index method. The results showed that the TSS value had exceeded the class 2 and class 3 quality standards, while the BOD value had exceeded the class 2 quality standard and still met the class 3 quality standard. The parameter index value obtained was 2.20 which was classified as lightly polluted. The water in the puddle cannot be consumed by livestock, because the water does not meet the quality standard based on the calculation of the quality status using the pollution index method.

Abstract

The community carries out bathing and washing activities directly in the retention basin which can cause polluted water. Water quality checks need to be carried out before treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of water in the retention basin. Determination of the sampling location by purposive sampling. Sampling was carried out once in August 2021. Parameter measurements were carried out in the field and in the laboratory. The measurement results are compared with the quality standards listed in the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 32 of 2017 concerning Environmental Health Quality standards and Water Health Requirements for Sanitary Hygiene, Swimming Pools, Solus Per Aqua and Public Baths. A parameter that passed the quality standard was E-Coli while pH, hardness, nitrate, temperature, and TDS still met the quality standards. Retention basin water in Tubuhue Village seen from the parameters of temperature, pH, TDS, hardness, and nitrate can be used for sanitation hygiene purposes, but judging from the parameter E-Coli cannot be used for sanitary hygiene purposes.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSalah satu dampak negatif dari kegiatan pembangunan adalah permasalahan lingkungan. Permasalahan lingkungan yang selalu ditemukan di sekitar kita adalah sampah. Sampah dapat dikelola dengan pendekatan 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle). Pengelolaan sampah dengan pendekatan 3R perlu disosialisasikan kepada semua pihak terutama peserta didik. Sosialisasi pengelolaan sampah dengan pendekatan 3R dilaksanakan dalam bentuk kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini berlokasi di SMPN Neonbat Kefamenanu. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah memberi pemahaman pada peserta didik mengenai pentingnya pengelolaan sampah di lingkungan serta untuk meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik mengenai jenis sampah organik dan anorganik.  Metode kegiatan pengabdian yang digunakan adalah permainan dan pembuatan produk kreasi dari sampah. Hasil tes akhir menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pemahaman peserta didik tentang pengelompokkan sampah organik dan anorganik. Sosialisasi pengelolaan sampah dengan pendekatan 3R pada peserta didik SMPN Neonbat telah memberi dampak positif dengan meningkatnya pemahaman mengenai pengelompokan sampah organik dan anorganik serta memberikan pemahaman kepada peserta didik bahwa sampah yang dihasilkan bisa dimanfaatkan kembali dan dapat bernilai ekonomis apabila dikembangkan menjadi sebuah produk bermanfaat. Kata kunci: sampah organik; sampah anorganik; 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle). ABSTRACTOne of the negative impacts of development activities is environmental problems. Environmental problems that are always found around us are garbage. Waste can be managed with a 3R approach (reduce, reuse, recycle). Waste management with the 3R approach needs to be socialized to all parties, especially students. The socialization of waste management with the 3R approach was carried out in the form of community service activities located at SMPN Neonbat Kefamenanu. The purpose of this service is to provide students with an understanding of the importance of waste management in the environment and to increase students' understanding of the types of organic and inorganic waste. The method of service activities used are games and the manufacture of creative products from waste. The final test results show that there is an increase in students' understanding of the grouping of organic and inorganic waste. Socialization of waste management with the 3R approach to students of SMPN Neonbat has had a positive impact by increasing understanding of the grouping of organic and inorganic waste and providing understanding to students that the waste produced can be reused and can be of economic value if it is developed into a useful product. Keywords: organic waste; inorganic waste; 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persentase mortalitas hama kumbang bubuk, mengetahui LC50 ekstrak daun sirsak, ekstrak daun gamal dan kombinasi ekstrak daun sirsak dan daun gamal dan kombinasi keduanya untuk mematikan hama kumbang bubuk (Sitophilus zeamais M.) dan untuk mengetahui ekstrak daun mana yang paling efektif untuk membunuh hama kumbang bubuk (Sitophilus zeamais M.). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni-Juli 2022 di Laboratorium Pendidikan Biologi, Universitas Timor. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan yaitu 0 (kontrol), 3%, 6%, dan 9% masing-masing dengan 5 ulangan. Nilai LC50 diperoleh dari analisis probit. Nilai letal konsentrasi (LC50) ekstrak daun sirsak dan ekstrak daun gamal berturut-turut sebesar 9.616% dan 6.724%. Nilai letal konsentrasi (LC50) kombinasi ekstrak daun sirsak dan daun gamal tidak ada yang dihitung karena rasio jumlah respon terhadap jumlah subjek adalah sama. Presentase mortalitas hama kumbang bubuk tertinggi terjadi ketika diberikan perlakuan konsentrasi 9 % ekstrak daun gamal dan konsentrasi 9 % ekstrak daun sirsak. Pemberian perlakuan konsentrasi 3 % kombinasi ekstrak daun sirsak dan daun gamal telah dapat mematikan seluruh hama uji. Kombinasi ekstrak daun gamal dan daun sirsak adalah ekstrak yang paling efektif membunuh hama kumbang. Namun jika dilihat dari nilai LC50 maka ekstrak yang paling efektif membunuh hama adalah ekstrak daun gamal diantara kedua ekstrak daun.

Abstract

Timor Tengah Utara mengalami musim hujan selama empat bulan yang dapat menyebabkan terbatasnya air, sehingga sumber air yang ada harus dapat dimanfaatkan untuk berbagai kegiatan. Genangan air hujan di Desa Teba Timur merupakan salah satu sumber air yang berpotensi digunakan untuk keperluan higiene sanitasi masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menilai potensi air pada genangan air hujan untuk keperluan higiene sanitasi dari segi kualitasnya. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deksriptif kuantitatif dimana metode pengambilan contoh uji mengacu pada SNI 6989.57:2008 tentang Metoda Pengambilan Contoh Air Permukaan. Titik pengambilan contoh uji yaitu titik yang dekat dengan jalan raya sebanyak 2 titik. Pengujian suhu, pH dan bau dilakukan di lapangan, sedangkan pengujian parameter lain dilakukan di laboratorium. Hasil pengujian dibandingkan dengan baku mutu untuk keperluan Higiene Sanitasi yang termuat dalam Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia Nomor 32 Tahun 2017 tentang Standar Mutu Kesehatan Lingkungan dan Persyaratan Kesehatan Air untuk Keperluan Higiene Sanitasi, Kolam Renang, Solus Per Aqua dan Pemandian Umum. Nilai pH pada titik 2 melebihi baku mutu dan air memiliki bau. Air pada Genangan Air Hujan di titik 1 dapat digunakan untuk keperluan higiene sanitasi, sedangkan pada titik 2 tidak dapat digunakan untuk keperluan higiene sanitasi.

Abstract

Siswa SMP SATAP Negeri Nian belum memiliki pengetahuan mengenai kode resin plastik sehingga perlu dilakukan kegiatan sosialisasi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa mengenai kode resin plastik. Langkah-langkah kegiatan dimulai dari kunjungan awal ke sekolah, persiapan kegiatan, pelaksanaan kegiatan dan pembuatan laporan. Peserta kegiatan sebanyak 31 orang. Peningkatan pengetahuan siswa diukur dari peningkatan hasil posttest dibandingkan dengan hasil pretest. Kriteria siswa yang mengikuti pretest dan posttest adalah siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan dari awal sampai akhir. Jumlah siswa yang memenuhi kriteria tersebut sebanyak 17 orang. Pengetahuan siswa mengalami peningkatan ditandai dengan persentase jawaban “Ya” dari kelima pernyataan pada posttest yang seluruhnya berhasil melampui angka 50 %. Kegiatan sosialisasi ini mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa SMP Satap Negeri Nian tentang kode resin plastik.

Abstract

In the learning process, properly empowering students' environmental care character is a crucial endeavor. This study was conducted to analyze the effectiveness of empowering students' environmental care character, as measured by the environmental care character profile. This quantitative descriptive study used a student environmental care character questionnaire instrument. The results showed that the average value of students' environmental care character was 64.34, which was in the sufficient category. Out of the 52 participants in this study, only 14.29 demonstrated an average level of environmental care character in the good category. Other respondents, specifically 77.55 % and 8.16 %, had average values in the sufficient and less categories. This shows that the conventional approach has not been effective in empowering students' environmental care character. Other efforts are needed, namely 1) school commitment to integrate character values into the school's vision and mission including the implementation of various school activities, 2) teacher commitment to select, develop and implement learning models that provide opportunities for students to be actively involved in learning, for example problem-based learning models, project-based learning models, contextual learning models and outdoor learning, 3) Development and use of ICT-based media and learning resources that are integrated with environmental literacy and 4) increasing the involvement of relevant stakeholders such as parents, government and the community in efforts to empower students' environmentally conscious character

Abstract

Rice production depends on the quality of irrigation water. Irrigation water in the rice fields of Noemuti District has never been tested, so this research was conducted. This research is a quantitative study. Water test sampling points for measuring physical, chemical, and phytoplankton parameters were 3. Parameters of pH, DO, temperature, and TDS were measured in the field, while the parameters of Nitrate (NO3-N) and Total Phosphorus (PO4-P) were tested in the laboratory. Phytoplankton collection began with 100 liter water sample filtered using a 20 μm plankton net, the results of the filtration were put into a 100 mL bottle, then given formalin, and then analyzed in the laboratory using a Sedgewic Rafter Counting Chamber (SRCC) and a microscope. The values ​​of physical and chemical parameters were compared with quality standards, and the quality status calculated using the pollution index method. The obtained plankton were identified by comparing with various literatures. The abundance, diversity index, dominance index and uniformity index of phytoplankton calculated. The values ​​of physical and chemical parameters at the three stations met the quality standards. The pollution index values ​​at the three stations were included in the category of meeting the quality standards. The diversity index values ​​at the three stations fall into the moderate community stability and moderate diversity categories (moderately polluted water quality). The moderately polluted water quality category based on the H' value differs from the water quality category that meets quality standards as seen from the pollution index value. The uniformity index is high, and the community dominance index is low at all three stations. Irrigation water based on physical and chemical parameters can be used for agricultural purposes, but based on the diversity index, it should be treated first.
